Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread. Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-7-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4887688-archers-thread-153-total-absolute-rubbish-but-we-keep-on-listening-hoping-for-better-things-its-the-hope-that-kills-you-discuss-the-archers-here?latest=1 The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Ruairi might come back to say goodbye to Martha before Chris says yes to the life support being switched off. Sad But yes, far more likely to be the horse in the end.

Yes the last two episodes have made me realise I was wrong in predicting Harry's hospitalisation. I do fear it'll be Martha's, due to Mummy being drunk but it sounds like she'll manage to hide it for a while longer.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 25/04/2024 20:03

Ruairi indeed! (Wonder who’ll go to his graduation - Brian and …?)

Have to agree I’d rather Champion shuffles. And surely it wouldn’t just be Chris sad if anything happened to Martha?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/04/2024 20:05

No, but it looks as if the focus is on Chris making some sort of decision and saying goodbye as a result. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Does Ruairi = something to do with Brian (who is not in the cast)? I hope not.

Lisa…. Rhiannon Neads [I think this is Alice's AA sponsor]

Alice's AA sponsor has been being played by Katherine Jakeways before.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/04/2024 20:31

You're right of course, Asking. Recasting or coincidence?

Good spot, @Gonners, but I can't bear the idea of anything happening to Brian. Sad

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 25/04/2024 20:58

Of course it might be something major - but Ruairi would be coming home anyway, as it’s the end of the academic year.

It’s Adam and Stella who need to worry when he’s around! Brian would feed his son the whites of their eyes if Ruairi wanted them …

WombatCowgirl · 25/04/2024 21:31

Maybe drunken Alice allows Champion to run amok through Ambridge like those poor cavalry horses? Chris claims sole parental responsibility, Alice moves to Hungary with Brian to care for her. Chris's sad farewell could be to Alice or Champion?

Bruisername · 25/04/2024 21:33

Or Alice to rehab?

RegimentalSturgeon · 25/04/2024 21:52

Ruairi might come back to say goodbye to Martha before Chris says yes to the life support being switched off.

While that would be tremendous fun,, I can’t really see why Ruairi would feel the need to get involved.

Won’t happen, sadly.

Edited

Or to Ambridge and all its insane inhabitants - I mean, Chris seems like a moderately intelligent man.

JanglyBeads · 25/04/2024 22:55

A "sad goodbye" a couple of days after something dramatic does not sound like a death though, iyswim? In one liner-speak? More likely a decision not to have contact with Alice any more or something.

JanglyBeads · 25/04/2024 22:56

(Which can be achieved whilst maintaining child contact)

JanglyBeads · 25/04/2024 22:57

Term's only just started, Ruari wouldn't be home yet

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 25/04/2024 23:22

Our final year undergrad has completely finished any formal uni work. Came home for Easter and is only heading back to their student accommodation for extra-curricular pursuits.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/04/2024 06:06

Sad goodbye is often code for a funeral but that seems unlikely here, much too soon.

My grandsons (Manchester and York ) are still there working.

Bruisername · 26/04/2024 07:29

I’ve never heard a uni finish so early! And that’s it until October?

ZadocPDederick · 26/04/2024 07:44

In her last year at university, DD finished formal teaching two weeks after the start of the summer term, She then had exams in May and that was it. I remember wandering what she was supposed to be paying fees for.

Bruisername · 26/04/2024 07:47

Yes I remember that in my last year and was supposed to be studying. But there were exams until end May/early June

Gonners · 26/04/2024 07:49

Yes, we got no teaching in the last term of our final year - just papers to finish off and exams in May/early June. This was in London.

Bruisername · 26/04/2024 07:53

I was London too

my nephew is still having classes - science degree

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/04/2024 08:15

It's over 40 years since I was in my final year, also in London, and as far as I can recall we had some teaching after Easter but not much. Finals probably started in May and continued into June, but were finished well before the end of the month. There is then a huge amount of marking to be done, of course, followed by the Exam Board and the administrative task of sorting out degree certificates, transcripts and the graduation ceremony.

If Ruairi is about to graduate, how odd that we still haven't a clue what he's been studying or at which institution. I assume we will be told what he plans to do next. It wouldn't be at all unusual nowadays if he went straight on to do a Master's.

Does anyone know which of the London colleges/schools teaches Gigolo Studies? In any event, he could just be back for a few days, ostensibly to see Brian but really for the plot purpose of catching Alice out.
