Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread. Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-7-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4887688-archers-thread-153-total-absolute-rubbish-but-we-keep-on-listening-hoping-for-better-things-its-the-hope-that-kills-you-discuss-the-archers-here?latest=1 The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Oh it's just occurred to me - Harry will end up in hospital (and worse?) - that's the point of all the GP scenes.

JanglyBeads · 21/04/2024 13:52

And it's his mother who faces devastation. It'll all come out about Alice's involvement.

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/04/2024 16:41

The 🔮 predicted cirrhosis/liver failure some weeks ago.
Possibly including an appearance by the Ambridge Liver Transplant Fairy.

OMG, awful thought - don't let them kill off someone so they can do an organ donation s/l!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/04/2024 18:13

Bore will know, but surely liver transplants can only come from a dead donor? So there's no question of Alice saying 'Take mine, Harry, it's in marginally better nick than yours', I hope.

OP posts:
Gonners · 21/04/2024 18:20

A very small number of liver transplants are from living donors, who remain living (with luck) because they don't take the whole liver. I think that's mostly done by parents donating to small children, though.

Perhaps someone will drop a chainsaw on George and 'Arry can have his liver, for a "small" donation to the Grundy family?

Bruisername · 21/04/2024 18:22

Likelihood of Harry being a match and being high enough up the list are nil!

oh wait, this is nonsenseland so no doubt it will happen

Bruisername · 21/04/2024 18:23

Surely Alice’s liver wouldn’t be ideal

maybe she’ll give him Martha’s

Gonners · 21/04/2024 19:33

Spoiler alert!

After Ed's ludicrous realisation this evening, are we being prepared for disaster? As long as no livers are damaged, this might give 'Arry a double chance of a transplant ... or even more if they manage to take out a few of the inevitable spectators who have caused the whole disaster by shouting unwanted advice.

Madcats · 22/04/2024 14:30

Judging by the stunning recovery made by Lynda (who appears to be running the B&B single-handed/with minimal assistance from Robert), any "shocking" injury is likely to be forgotten within 4-6 months.

I can't believe that Eddie and Joe didn't have a chainsaw for cutting firewood. Or Will as a gamekeeper, for that matter.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 22/04/2024 14:45

Mmm … Lynda did suffer for a long time and continues to struggle, both physically and mentally, as a result of her GG injuries and trauma. They did that reasonably well.

Ben of course had the entire resources of the midlands health services concentrated on his wellbeing day and night, and ready and waiting to tend to his family at no notice and with no expense spared - so it’s not surprising he recovered within days …

WhoppingBigBackside · 22/04/2024 14:46

Ed had a chainsaw but there are different types.

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/04/2024 15:39

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 23/04/2024 15:49

Well! I won’t need to listen now …

Excellent effort, @WhoppingBigBackside!

Grin
Madcats · 23/04/2024 16:05

Those spoliers sound more plausible.

On the subject of moles (the subterranean furry ones, though seemingly popular with somebody's cat on X), have they ever featured in any Ambridge gardens? I have a feeling that Joe's ferrets might have been involved.

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/04/2024 16:05

I made some of them up, but I can't wait for tonight's episode. It will be vastly better than the previous two episodes.

@Madcats , Asking will know.
I might need to rewrite the spoilers to incorporate moles

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 23/04/2024 16:45

As far as I remember moles have never featured in TA. They should have done, though.

Oh, no, hang on: there was a nasty occasion on which moles invaded the cricket square from the Country Park, and Sid called on Mike Tucker to eradicate them. Only it wasn't moles at all: it was a practical joke played by "Mr Mole", who was subsequently unmasked and found to be Kenton.

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/04/2024 17:00

Maybe we could have the other type of moles too. Would a mexican sauce be one?

Madcats · 23/04/2024 19:08

Wayne could pop some Mexican dishes on the menu at The Bull!

(Is he still in the kitchen, diligently baking bread?)

noodlezoodle · 23/04/2024 22:37

It's very clear that Whopping needs to be hired by TA scriptwriters as soon as possible.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 25/04/2024 09:17

So who’s going to be Azra’s new friend - Helen, or Fallon?

Denise isn’t quite properly part of the village, yet.

And Lillian or Joy seem unlikely, though not impossible, and they’d both encourage her to get involved in village life.

… I’m assuming they mean female friend, avoiding the narrative complications of a new male friend given her husband is on another continent? The candidates would be Harrison, Ed, Alistair (and he’s … busy). Could be Henry, of course!

Bruisername · 25/04/2024 09:21

It would be good if it was Joy as I think that would pull those characters in more

How old are azra and Joy supposed to be

WhoppingBigBackside · 25/04/2024 09:57

Azra is young enough to have school age children but is much older than her brother.
Joy is old enough to be a grandmother.

Bruisername · 25/04/2024 09:58

Well I guess grandmothers can be in their 40s as can be mothers of teens

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 25/04/2024 10:04

Azra: Yasmin Wilde - playing age 44 -55

https://app.spotlight.com/9814-6754-3302

Joy:

Jackie Lye - full TA entry.

She’s 64, apparently.

So actually less distance between them than I’d imagined.
