The spoiler thread runs for around a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Could Neil and Susan be the first people to notice the cattle on the cricket pitch? There's been a surprising lack of reaction to that.

Poppins2016 · 27/02/2024 21:18

Gonners · 27/02/2024 20:38

Oh, me too! We don't have a telly (reception is rubbish here and during the brief period the Freesat dish worked, about 10 years ago, we realised we only ever watched the news) so I only discovered it on iPlayer during Covid lockdown. I still haven't got over the departure of Humphrey, though.

I loved Humphrey too. Have you discovered Beyond Paradise?

The sheep (not cattle) are no longer on the cricket field: about a week after they were moved, Eddie was said to have been helping to move them back.

Several people, including Tony and Lilian, did notice them there, but by the time they might have done anything the sheep were gone again.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2024 21:37

Yes, fully up to date with Beyond Paradise too. Not as good as DiP, but perfectly acceptable.

Robert Thorogood, creator of both series, must be coining it in now (deservedly) as he has branched out into writing crime novels and one is now being adapted for TV. The Marlow Murders Club. I haven't read that series yet, but I probably will. From the brief plug piece I read earlier I think the MMC may be a bit less cosy than DiP. Samantha Bond stars, and I like her.

The Archers? Oh, were we supposed to be talking about that? Grin

OP posts:
Bruisername · 28/02/2024 16:38

I’ve been very disappointed in the new series of DiP and thought the Humphrey spinoff was dire. Sad because I used to watch it with the kids but they felt the same as me so no more family viewing!

What will happen to fallon and Harrison

Gonners · 28/02/2024 20:10

Whatever happens as a consequence of Harrygate, I think they'll be fine as a couple as Alice is allegedly Fallon's friend, which is why he didn't keep quiet. As long as Ma'am works it so that he doesn't lose his pension, it's probably win-win for him, what with him being fed up with the job, and I expect the Ambridge Job Fairy will be along soon.

Or maybe they'll take over running The Bull and the second** most boring pub landlord in history will result in it going bust?

** after Kenton

WhoppingBigBackside · 01/03/2024 20:19

Maybe Ali-stair will meet Miranda via OLD.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 01/03/2024 20:26

Wouldn’t she be on Only Oligarchs or some such? Alistair wouldn’t get a sniff of membership of her exclusive dating site.

Unless the SWs have decided to downgrade her to bumbling village squire status, like her ex-husband.

WhoppingBigBackside · 07/03/2024 13:46

20/03/2024 Justin makes Stella an interesting offer, and hare spotting is the order of the day at the rewilding.

New Robert. Sad Good luck to the new actor. Big shoes to fill.

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g . It wasn't a hint but a will we find out why Stella and Justin met up some time ago.
I hope that Alice doesn't hit the bottle again.

Bruisername · 07/03/2024 14:14

Interesting because it sounds to me like Alice would give Harry another chance but you would expect Chris to say that she can’t be trusted as a mother if she brings an alcoholic into her life. So I guess that could get nasty.

I don’t really care about Stella but an interested to know what Hannah’s role is. Will Stella leave home farm? Or (fingers crossed) Justin offers her a job overseas and she takes pip?

Gonners · 07/03/2024 16:13

I really hope they give New Robert some sort of storyline. Maybe he'll show a hitherto unmentioned talent for cricket and put noses out of joint?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/03/2024 16:25

Asking will know, but didn't Robert play in years gone by? I could easily be misremembering, though. It just sounds like a Robert-ish thing to do.

OP posts:
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/03/2024 16:32

Robert was a cricketer and a stalwart of the Ambridge team, involved in them joining the village cricket competitions.

Gonners · 07/03/2024 16:40

Great, so (looking at the rest of the cast) maybe him wanting to become cricket club chair will put many, many noses out of joint?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/03/2024 16:00

And more, to add to the above. I'll try to remember to see if there's anything from the Daily Mail but it doesn't often add much to the RT preview.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary March 10th-15th
Kate seems to have her nose in everyone's business - and she's giving her opinion on Tony and George's plans for the Tearoom, telling Jakob to fix the terrible atmosphere at the vets' and planning a surprise for Brian and Alice to cheer up Alice. Ed and Emma come to a decision about accepting Will's help with their tree surgery business, but then George sticks his oar in and Will looks for a second opinion.

New spoilers:
24.3 Kenton hatches a plan, while the Snells come to an agreement.
25.3 Jolene makes a statement, and Jakob has serious news to impart.
26.3 George finds himself in trouble, and Freddie causes mischief.
27.3 Emma is forced to get involved, and Kenton fears the consequences of recent events.
28.3 Tensions mount at the cricket practice, and Robert has an idea.
29.3 The pressure increases on Jolene, and Hannah is put on the spot.

I wonder what New Robert will be like. I have a feeling we'll like him. Robert Snell is missed.

ZadocPDederick · 09/03/2024 10:42

Why would George have plans for the Tearoom? Mind you, if they involve getting rid of stupid cowhide on the walls, I could get right behind that.

I'm really hoping Justin's offer to Stella is a job in the Hebrides, with accommodation for partner and child.

WhoppingBigBackside · 09/03/2024 11:33

Why would Tony and George have plans for the tearooms?
I'm not bothered by the cowhides; the cows were dead anyway. Black cowhides seem a bit gloomy.

JanglyBeads · 09/03/2024 14:09

Sounds like George is really getting around, with his views....

Do we think jolene's statement is actually to the police? Guess so.

Gonners · 09/03/2024 14:21

I'm hoping Jolene's statement is along the lines of "Right, Kenton, I never want to see or hear from you again. Either become a silent character or get out!"

Daily Mail preview for next week:

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine March 10th-15th
When Chris questions Alice's judgement over her relationship with Harry, it's clear that old wounds have not healed, and the strained atmosphere at the vets is becoming intolerable.
