After someone's name got autocorrected in an e-mail, I looked up mine. Some cracking suggestions came up.

Looked Eilean Arainn up and it looks beautiful. Were you raised there?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/02/2024 21:44

No, my Granny was and my Mum was born there and spent every summer there when she was growing up. Separately, my Dad and most of his mother's family spent many summer holidays there. We went there for a day at least every summer when I was a child, often a short stay. When Mum and Dad moved there a quarter of a century ago, Mum still had several cousins living there. In the years since, most of those have died, but two of Dad's cousins moved there too.

It is beautiful. I love going there.

Looking at the episode guide (I know, I know) but is the 'Contemporary drama in a rural setting' an indication of some 'Drama'? Was tonight the lull before the storm.

I'm slightly disappointed that there isn't an Isle of Gasp. A wee island where several generations of McGasp0des have been the Laird. Smile

I probably come from a long line of arses from the arse end of nowhere

I had always just assumed you were born within earshot of The Prospect of Whitby, @WhoppingBigBackside

Jazzer and Jim!!! What’s all this about the walls closing in on Harrison? 🙄

WhoppingBigBackside · 18/02/2024 12:13

Harrison was not keen on meeting Harry. Why was that?
Why dd we meet his boss?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/02/2024 12:16

Isle of Gasp has a certain ring to it ... Grin My family were never lairds, though. Lucky not to be despatched to the colonies during the Clearances.

Walls closing in on Harrison - either he gets suspended because of some spurious complaint from Harry, or he's miserable about not getting to be a Dad.

I can't go further. I think the BBC are late this week updating. This could be because of a big story in the offing, but I think it's just as likely to be slowness or inefficiency.

OP posts:
WhoppingBigBackside · 18/02/2024 17:44

Thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Gasp. I thought the'walls closing in on Harrison might be to do with him knowing Harry, or because he couldn't tell Alice, or to do with Jerlene's stalker. Or all of them.

Yep, You are the Gasp of Gasp and I am the Whopping of Wapping.

Neil and Susan go wall-climbing? Abseiling? Skydiving?

Aye, but there'll be a chilli waiting for them when they get home. Wink

Madcats · 27/02/2024 07:34

I thought it best to keep this off the main thread:

Sunday 17 March -(new) Robert Snell.

An actor played by Michael Bertenshaw.

I am glad they've done this, I think.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 27/02/2024 07:39

It’s already being discussed on the main thread, @Madcats!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2024 08:33

I forgot about the spoilers this week! Full of catarrh is my excuse. Gosh, I hate coughing. Anyway, to business. This is as much as the BBC and Mustardland have.

TottersBlanklyIntoBimboCore · 27/02/2024 09:25

Thanks!

Alistair quitting Ambridge? (Avec Denise?) Or just retiring? Leaving Jakob and Paul to run the vet practice?

Might Brian like Miranda? (What could she possibly want in Ambridge - didn’t she acquire/keep hold of enough ski chalets and 5th Avenue apartments in the divorce?)

Gonners · 27/02/2024 09:46

Is the mysteriously low turnout for the quiz night a result of someone else (Jimmus?) doing it last week/whenever, or of Kenton returning?

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/02/2024 17:46

Thanks Gasp0de!
Quite a few happenings in the offing, it seems.
Possible retirement of Alistair, sacking of Harrison and Justin rekindling with Miranda?

And what do Susan and Neil spot from the skies?

TopOfTheCliff · 27/02/2024 18:20

Maybe the Gills at Home Farm have built a spa building without planning permission like Captain Toms family? Or Neil spots Rex’s pigs running amok at Lower Loxley? Or somebody is stealing Lynda’s llamas. Lots of options from above.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2024 18:33

I wonder if the Gills have turned Home Farm into a cannabis or cryptomining centre, and the heatwaves rising up from the vast amount of electricity being used hits Neil and Susan as they pass over on their hanggliders. (Disclaimer: I know nothing about either of those, but the latter was mentioned in Death in Paradise this week.)

OP posts:
Gonners · 27/02/2024 20:14

Hang on - Death in Paradise is back? Oooh! I see I have 4 episodes to watch on catch-up.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/02/2024 20:19

I love DiP. I didn't watch it until recently and over the last few months have binged every single episode to date. Formulaic but in a good way. I have a theory that Equity has an agreement that every member will get a role in either Midsomer Murders or DiP at some point.

OP posts:
Gonners · 27/02/2024 20:38

Oh, me too! We don't have a telly (reception is rubbish here and during the brief period the Freesat dish worked, about 10 years ago, we realised we only ever watched the news) so I only discovered it on iPlayer during Covid lockdown. I still haven't got over the departure of Humphrey, though.
