On the assumption that "hope I'm wrong" means you hope they have put something that tasteless in, and that Kenton is a goner, I agree!

You’re cruel, @Gonners! Kenton’s disappointingly dull but that’s not an end I’d choose for even the most evil character.

Well, thankfully we know he lives, as he’s still in the cast list.

Thereby eliminating any real element of suspense (I suppose someone, somewhere cares whether Kenton lives or dies, bizarre though that might seem) so well done them, again. They were happy enough to omit from the cast list when they wanted to surprise us with Rob, if I remember correctly.

We'll probably hear a lot of Jolene's pirate wailing and soothing tones.
Where was the friendly neighbourhood copper when he was needed?

Maybe he's been savaged and has to have an amputation or something.

OK, having triple checked I'm on the spoilers thread - yes, it does look very like loan sharks doesn't it? Harrison's boss features next week, and from the mention of 'unexpected visitor' and 'Jolene finds herself cornered' I'd say we might be in for a couple of weeks of Jolene doing what characters in soaps and crime dramas and whodunnits always do, and not telling the police and her nearest and dearest everything they need to know AT ONCE.

No new spoilers on the BBC page, just checked.

Yes! I'm not noted for my patience, as anyone in the Gasp0de household could tell you. Heading north next week, but will be able to keep up with developments. By that stage Kenton will probably be home with an elastoplast on his arm and a lifetime supply of Jill's lemon drizzle stacked up in the kitchen.

Forgive my ignorance but how would a loan shark’s violence / threat to one unfortunate borrower be disseminated to other potential victims? I mean, Jolene isn’t in a WhatsApp group with all the other borrowers. I don't remember Jolene having any dealings with loan sharks. Perhaps I've just erased it during a mental clear-out. How long ago was this?

We haven't had any indication on the programme. Someone on the other thread mentioned it was a speculation on Twitter.

I was imagining that heavies employed by the loanshark might go round to delinquents and say 'You heard what happened at The Bull in Ambridge? Well, think on ...'

Why wouldn’t said delinquent ring the police with a description of the heavy?

(I know loan sharks do threaten and persecute debtors - it’s been on TV - but that seems general, not specific - They might come after you rather than These people came for me and their dog savaged my husband but they’re still walking free and my useless policeman son in law has done nothing …)

Well, I'm right outside my comfort zone here and drawing heavily on TV dramas and brief news stories, but it seems common enough for people to be too frightened of organised crime gangs to give evidence in murder cases, so I'd say the odds are heavily against speaking to the police in lesser matters for fear of what might happen to your home and your loved ones.

Why would loan sharks have trailers (plural)? For the dog? Even an XLBully could fit in a car or the back of a van.

I don't go that far north! Eilean Arainn was my destination, not that anybody's spoken Gaelic there as a first language for a very long time. Rather eventful as the ferry service has been even more badly affected this month than usual by weather, ageing vessels, poorly maintained port and outright incompetence from the Scottish government. However, I got there (in the end, after an unscheduled night in a hotel) and I am now home again. It's a lot warmer in London than it was up North, surprisingly enough.

No idea about the party.
