Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed, and of course we are always delighted to welcome back former or occasional listeners/posters. We don't all agree on all points, although we do mostly try to be civil about it. Most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you think people frequently miss their own weddings because of a morning quickie while in a plaster cast, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please! We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4636789-the-archers-spoilers-thread-7-cant-wait-for-702pm-join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks for title suggestions. I basically took @OverArmour's excellent suggestion and managed to shoehorn in snivelling simpleton, gloriously coined by @Eastie77Returns to refer to Lee in the first instance.

@WitcheryDivine suggested Recharging, Red Kites and The Man They Call Ron, is Ambridge becoming an earthly paradise or a hell on earth? which seems as good a place as any to kick off our discussions! Ron = Rob, a fortuitous typo on a previous thread. It does feel a bit as if we're marking time before he turns up again. Odd to do what could be a high profile storyline over the summer holidays when a lot of people will be away, but depending on your point of view, maybe that's a blessing!

Whither George? Is he shaping up to be Andrew Tate mark 2?

Everybody looking forward to Ferret Fun at the Fête? Me neither.

Over to you!

and he's had a difficult upbringing and I know biosecurity is important and technically he did breach the rules but they should have made allowances for him.'
wouldn't be in the post. She'd have posted that Hannah planted the sausage roll wrapper just to get George sacked.

Maybe that would have come out in the MASSIVE drip feed that would have come out 200 posts in...

PedantScorner · 28/07/2023 11:01

As would the complaint from George about living in a glorified trailer.

The replies would not have been judgemental. Grin

TheSilveryPussycat · 28/07/2023 11:20

What user name would Emma choose, I wonder?

In the very few instances where I've made a spoof Archers post on MN, I think I have used the name of the character as the user name. Only fair Wink

faffadoodledo · 28/07/2023 11:28

Emma would be something like 'Lifeshouldhavebeenbetter' or 'ideservemorebecauseimpretty'

Superb!

George is a vindictive shitheel. I look forward to his spectacular comeuppance in the future.

I don’t know why Brad is so fearful all the time, it’s quite a recent thing, isn’t it?

I’m not surprised he offered to help with the veg, I doubt Tracy lets her kids sit around being waited on. The lack of comprehension from all the Grundy men was both awful and funny. “How would we know, Clarrie’s still at work.”

Brilliant😂 Emma’s AIBU posts would be wonderful to read as well.

Em and Ed could have gone ahead with the Beechwood house. They were on the verge of Exchanging and there was no need for Ed to let the mortgage company know he’d lost his job. Emma’s begging resulted in contributions from Neil, Will and Chris chipped in as well. They had several thousands of pounds so they could have got by until Ed found another job.

Ultimately he just didn’t want the responsibility and of course owning a home “is not for people like us Em” (he said something to that effect)🙄

What you really want is a zoom out during this conversation to show an enormous blackboard in the kitchen with a meal plan for the week on it in large capitals and a note for Thurs saying "Please peel the carrots and chop onions before I get home"

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/07/2023 15:50

Grin Lovely idea, but I fear Clarrie is one of those women who rather enjoys being a martyr, or at any rate lacks the energy and drive to tackle the Grundy male inertia around female coded work.

OP posts:
TheSilveryPussycat · 28/07/2023 16:08

Well, I think Clarrie has given up wasting her energy on a non-starter, to prioritise keeping everything else going. She has for decades been outnumbered by a bunch of blokes, all of whom have all mastered the art of strategic incompetence.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/07/2023 18:12

FallonsNewCoat · 28/07/2023 09:23

I can’t stand Lilian.

I don’t remember the tractor- just Tim-otei. Ed was the master of his own Emma’s downfall. He was lucky she forgave him. There is a lot of love for Ed on this thread which baffles me. I didn’t know him in his younger days which is perhaps why.

Emma was lucky Ed forgave her, too: she encouraged him to do the ferrying dodgy chemicals for Tim Oatey when he was planning not to be able to do it.

All forgotten by her when he lost the job at Home Farm, of course.

TheUsualChaos · 28/07/2023 18:57

I think early on in their marriage Clarrie made the mistake of always thinking things would get better with her lot and one of Eddie's schemes would come good one day but nowadays, she's given up long ago and just accept things for how they are. Eddie will be well and truly lost if she dies first although, saying that, no doubt he'll make sure the younger Grundy women are all busy running round after him.

TheUsualChaos · 28/07/2023 19:11

Oh Henry. Silly boy 😔

Fleetress · 28/07/2023 19:11

God, this is horrible to listen to.

TheUsualChaos · 28/07/2023 19:14

It's excruciating isn't it 😩

Poppins2016 · 28/07/2023 19:20

I agree... This is absolutely excruciating. And Rob is so manipulative.

Ambridge · 28/07/2023 19:21

As the immortal Harry Hill might say…..I hate Rob. And I hate George. But which one is worst?

There's only one way to find out…

FIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGHHHTTTT!!!!!!!
