Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

Many thanks, Asking, and I will do my best to fill the gap next weekend! Hope you're off somewhere interesting.

OP posts:
WhoppingBigBackside · 14/11/2022 16:22

Thanks Asking. Paul is a vet nurse not a vet.
If Brokefailed was worth £7m a few years ago, why are they unable to get hold of the money to repay Mince now?
Something bad will happen at the hunt ball.
Jill's words will be that nudge over the cliff for Ben.

Madcats · 14/11/2022 16:52

Thanks and enjoy your long weekend, Asking.

Apologies if it was mentioned a while back but is it significant that vet nurse Paul has a surname? It takes some of the cast weeks/months to get one. If Denise is busy filming another series of The Outlaws I will forgive her, but I quite enjoyed the surgery scenes.

I reckon that Paul would get on like a house on fire with Julianne and Ruari (who are also in the cast list).

WhoppingBigBackside · 14/11/2022 17:32

He goes by Paul Mack, but Denise is Denise Metcalfe, I think.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/11/2022 07:36

Blithely promised to post the spoilers this weekend and clean forgot! Apologies. Will do it later today.

Right! A lot of shameless copying and pasting follows from Mustardland (I don't post there but I do very occasionally lurk). Many thanks to the indefatigable posters over there who have done the collation, and also found out that Paula (featured next week) is the tutor on Ben's course who interviewed him, so presumably we're in for a heart to heart there.

Radio Times 19 - 25 November 2022
Ruairi continues to struggle with what he really wants from life and, with his client Julianne making more demands, he'll need to protect his more personal prospects. Away from all the drama at Brookfield, Kenton & Jolene find their hospitality in demand, but might have different ideas on how much support to lend. David hits the roof when a local tries to put the squeeze on his family, and it's all getting too much for Ruth, who's up to her eyeballs with worry about Ben. Meanwhile, Christmas talk gets two creative types thinking: could sweet music be made, or a contentious klaxon? And someone is making George blush......

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update November 20-25
The sound of laughter and the smell of Jill's baking used to float up to Lakey Hill, but these days at Brookfield Farm all you hear is the sound of the back door banging as the residents make an escape from the miserable atmosphere. Kenton and Jolene bear the brunt of entertaining the escapees, but are at odds about how to deal with the tense situation.
Elsewhere in the village things are much cheerier as various Christmas wheezes get underway, putting two musical Ambridgers on the same wavelength but not necessarily in harmony.
Meanwhile Julianne, a steely businesswoman who knows how to get what she wants, starts putting the pressure on to make sure she's getting enough bangs for her bucks.

Thanks to both @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime and @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g - this thread dropped off my TIO and I’d almost forgotten it’s existence.

Strange to see so many new or new-ish characters all crowded together in a single week.

ILoveShula · 22/11/2022 08:55

Thanks Gasp

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/11/2022 08:58

I assume Josh (Angus Imrie) is busy elsewhere at the moment. He's the only Brookfield Archer not featured in the next three weeks.

Can't wait for 30/11. Is David going to be Tiny Tim to Vince's Scrooge??

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 26/11/2022 21:42

Because I have the RT and DM spoilers, I'll post them credits and all as I usually do each week, with many, many thanks to Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g for filling in while I was away. Norway is beautiful, but cold...

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 27th November – 2nd December 2022
When Ben faces his tutor about his problems, he receives an unlikely piece of advice, but Ruth and David can't stop worrying, while Rex won't give up on his friend.
Everyone's thoughts turn to Christmas, with Stella & Pip getting crafty, and Rosie looking forward to her Nativity. Meanwhile, Mick gets in a muddle when he volunteers for a community project.
Tracy is determined not to let her money problems get in the way of Yuletide, while Jazzer's equally set on making it special. But Jolene feels like she's playing gooseberry with her own Mother-in-law. Can anybody help?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 27th November – 2nd December 2022
There’s a rumour going round that the heating is on at a handshake local venue.
If you find out where it is, keep it under your woolly hat, or the whole of Ambridge will be jostling for a place. Oh please let it not be Joy’s hot tub! What a horrible picture that conjures up.
As various villagers shuffle around looking for this source of free heat, Tracy buckles down to some early Christmas planning. Times have been tough at No6, The Green, but Tracy and Jazzer are determined, despite everything they’ve been through, that their Christmas will be special.
Times are also tough for the Brookfield clan as Ben faces up to his tutor and
his future, Ruth and David worry, and Rex tries to get through to his friend.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
I have to admit to not remembering ever having heard Rex and Ben speak to each other until the unlikely fishing trip a few weeks back, but I suppose if Rex now hates Josh, he is obliged to like Ben: there is only a limited number of people under forty in the village for him to be friends with. Oh, and I think perhaps when Heather died Rex played a game of rugbyish with Ben to try to cheer him up a bit. That would be seven years ago; not a very demonstrative friendship.

ILoveShula · 28/11/2022 12:06

Thanks Asking.

Madcats · 29/11/2022 22:18

Oh dear. I supposed that I ought to have registered that this was the whole idea of the "2 choirs in a village of 600" storyline, but the Beeb proudly proclaim this as a Christmas highlight:

"Join the residents of Ambridge as their rival seasonal choirs provide a warm and festive backdrop to the culmination of a trying year for Brookfield Farm."

ILoveShula · 01/12/2022 19:53

I have a horrible feeling that we will hear some doof-doofs tomorrow night, and it will involve Ben. Rex will be the hero of the hour.
Jill will blame herself.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2022 20:02

Yes to all three.
Not a dedding though.

ILoveShula · 01/12/2022 20:05

Not a dedding, probably Ben about to jump in the Am.
I foresee a miserable Christmas at Brookfield and a joyous one at No 6 The Green.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2022 20:11

I'm inclined to think Jill will be back in the Brookfield kitchen by Christmas.

ILoveShula · 01/12/2022 20:20

I'm inclined to think not, but she'll be back before New Year

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 01/12/2022 20:21

I can't think of any reason for Jill to go back. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. (Proverbs, 15:17)

ILoveShula · 01/12/2022 20:22

Maybe David with WR and Pip's help will make a passable meal, but Jill's absence will hang over them.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 01/12/2022 20:26

Well, it will be their own faults if it does: Ruth's for treating Jill like something scraped off the sole of her wellie after a long evening rounding up strayed cattle, David for deciding that Ruth could be a lot nastier to him than Jill would ever be in a million years and supporting Ruth, and Pip for not actually caring about Jill one way or the other any time this past fifteen years or so when there stopped being any particular benefit to Pip in buttering Jill up a bit. Josh is blameless....

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2022 20:30

Or maybe it will be Jill who ends up dedded?

ILoveShula · 01/12/2022 20:37

I hope not. No deddings, just a realisation that Ben is not in a good way.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 04/12/2022 11:37

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 4th – 9th December 2022
As David and Ruth struggle to come to terms with what’s happened at Brookfield, Pip steps up for her family, but Leonard is stunned by a heartbreaking confession. Will he be able to carry the burden of his secret, or betray a confidence and risk making things worse?
Fallon and Harrison visit Grange Farm, but Emma isn’t a happy hostess, and that’s before Ed is swiftly recruited into one of Eddie’s get-rich-quick schemes. As Kirsty and Mick bond over choir rehearsals, Joy is left to confront her own feelings and insecurities. And over at the Horrobins, Tracy and Jazzer don’t see eye to eye - can Chelsea and Brad steer them back on track?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 4th – 9th December 2022
Over at Brookfield, they are all reeling from last week's events. Leonard has been doing his best to help bear the burden, but then he hears a heartbreaking confession and starts to buckle under the strain. Pip does her bit by stepping up for her family, but there's not that much that can be done given the circumstances.
It's not all sweetness and light among the Horrobins at the moment either as Jazzer and Tracy hit another bump in life's road, while Chelsea and Brad do what they can to smooth it out.
Meanwhile, Kirsty and Mick find themselves singing from the same song sheet, Emma's nose is put out of joint, Eddie sees a chance to make money and yet again, life for one resident will never be the same again.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

That 5th December revelation: it would have been illegal for Jill to have had an abortion before she met Phil, but maybe she did; or perhaps it was just a late miscarriage and a scandal he never knew about. Or even a baby adopted. Heartbreaking, right? And seventy-five years too late to do anything about it, too. I suppose David will then have to set out to find his elder sibling for her whether she wants him to or not. See Matt's mother, passim.

One day Emma's nose will be in joint and she will discover what breathing through it is like.
