Spoilers thread for The Archers. Please keep all spoiler-related discussion in this thread and do not spill the beans on the main Archers Thread (hence the zipped mouth on the emoji!). Last spoilers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here

Current main Archers thread here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/radio_addicts/4632741-archers-thread-139-whos-the-daddy-no-ceremonial-required-to-join-us-discuss-the-archers-here The main thread tends to last a few weeks. The spoiler thread runs for well over a year, but I strongly suspect it gets read about as much as the main thread.

What do we think are Adam’s old feelings then? Pissed offness with Brian at home farm? Or will his wandering eye return? I find his descent into domesticity quite unlikely.

Also what’s the occasion? Wonder if it is Jenny’s birthday or wedding anniversary?

Many thanks, Asking!* *I think Anna will be the old friend. There is a (loose) family connection, given that her mother Carol is presumably still living silently in Ambridge in Glebe Cottage and is a close friend of Jill's (in spite of the fact that nobody, but nobody, ever mentions her now). Hmm

And of course you were right. Well done ye.

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 10:20

I think that Lee will propose to Helen and be turned down, and that Rob will reappear in Ambridge.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 28th May – 2nd June 2023
Jazzer may have mellowed enough to be set to marry Tracy, but his stag do was never going to be a sedate affair, and there are sore heads at the cricket the day after, leading to flared tempers and controversy. Elsewhere, Helen's in shock when an unexpected visitor turns up at Bridge Farm, Brian makes a surprising discovery and Adam faces a dilemma.

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

If Rob turns up at Bridge Farm he is hardly "unexpected"... And who is Harriet, apart possibly from being Brian's solicitor, who was called Harriet in 2019 but did not speak then? Might the discovery Brian makes be the delivery of the hundred and fifty thousand quid piece of kit he did not tell Stella to get, and Adam's dilemma be whether to own up to having unilaterally given her the go-ahead or to leave her to take the blame on her own?

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 12:57

Thanks Asking.
Unexpected visitor? The obvious answer is Rob, isn't it.
No Tomtasha, so not the Schaeffer-Baas thing, presumably.

Harriet is acted by someone from Chester, so I'm hoping she'll sound a bit like me. Grin

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 12:59

Or in an accent I recognise as a (fairly) local one.

Cocteautriplet · 27/05/2023 13:11

Sorry if this has already been speculated about but does anyone else think Pat will shoot and either kill or seriously hurt Rob when he does inevitably turn up? … the conversation she had a few weeks ago about not knowing how she would control her emotions if he came back again makes me think she will and then a terrible trial will ensue. Do you think Bridge Farm have access to shot guns? Or maybe she’ll just set the bull on him (the one that gored Tony) several years back?

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 13:19

@Cocteautriplet , Pat has a gun. It was signposted not that long ago. We'd not heard of it before.

We have the Karate Kid, Calamity Cowat, Batasha and MoanyTony as potential murderers but it will be Tom wot kills him. He'll drone on about him & his and bore Rob to death.

Me, me, me, which is what I unintentionally do has inspired me to set a Bank Holiday Weekend challenge for anyone interested/bored/lonely.

Which The Archers character are you and why?

Have a great weekend!

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 13:20

Cheesus! What is wrong with me? Cowpat not Cowat.

Cocteautriplet · 27/05/2023 13:40

Whopping - yes they are like some band of misfit super hero’s aren’t they! 😂

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 13:51

Isn't the bull called Otto?
Do they still have the Angus herd?
Is there a Montbridgefarmyard bull?
Do the goats have billy kids with big horns ?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 27/05/2023 14:09

Rob had Otto the bull killed. (Tony later bought a new one and named him Cooper. Rob did not pay for the one he destroyed.)
Tom required them to get rid of the herd to make room for something or other, but his attempt failed and they still have Anguses.
I don't think there is a Montbéliard bull.
Billy goat kids on working farms tend not to live long enough to grow big horns, but make splendid curry.

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 14:35

I make a splendid curry too! Grin

We had a friend who lived on a commune where they named the sweet little billy kid "Vindaloo" so they wouldn't get too sentimental about him.

WhoppingBigBackside · 27/05/2023 14:38

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime ,I had a pet lamb called Chops, and a friend had a piglet called Scratch

Novum · 27/05/2023 16:26

Harriet actor's playing age is stated to be 50-60. Obviously that my not apply on radio, but if it does my bet is on her being a solicitor telling Brian something surprising about probate of Jenny's estate.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/05/2023 16:40

Many thanks, Asking! I wonder who Brian's surprise encounter will be with. Presumably not his solicitor. Still no Rob in the cast list, I see, but that means nothing.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/05/2023 16:45

I see the spoiler for Friday 16th June is A familiar face makes a dramatic return, and one villager struggles to stay in control. However, Ruairi is in the cast list for that week and Rob isn't, so that's probably another damp squib. The spoilers for the first half of June point to a huge row at Home Farm and Stella doing some soulsearching, so Asking's guess is probably on the money. I'll be sorry if Stella leaves. Good character, well acted.

Or a solicitor making his new will. It would be amusing if Jenny's will turned out to be invalid for some really stupid reason (like not being properly witnessed). We'd then have Alice doing a reverse-ferret and complaining that Martha is being deprived of what Jenny wanted.

GoldenCupidon · 28/05/2023 10:15

I’m concerned I might be Ian, quietly getting on with a stressful job (when he was a chef) and listening to my friends’ endless troubles.

GoldenCupidon · 28/05/2023 10:15

I’m concerned I might be Ian, quietly getting on with a stressful job (when he was a chef) and listening to my friends’ endless troubles.

But do you have sudden irrational bursts of fury which lead to you scuppering your partner's job prospects by gate-crashing their job-interviews and accusing the partner and prospective boss of having an affair? Are you determined that in any disagreement with your partner, whatever you want shall be what happens no matter how life-changing and no matter how much your partner disagrees? (Madds, Xander.)

WhoppingBigBackside · 28/05/2023 12:04

I think I might be a Kirsty, always the catalyst, and just a bit unfortunate.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/05/2023 16:16

There may be a couple more clues here:

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 28th May – 2nd June 2023
Quite what happened at Jazzer's much-anticipated and very drunken stag do remains a blur for some of those who took part. A cricket match in the village fails to clear the air and their fuzzy heads, and before long tempers flare.
Meanwhile, poor Helen is understandably still in shock after recent events, and while Tony hopes he has an answer and means well, will he actually be any help?
There's an unexpected visitor at the Bridge Farm dairy and, while Stella's away, Brian and Adam have been having fun until Brian makes a shocking discovery.

MuddlerInLaw · 01/06/2023 13:14

I'll be sorry if Stella leaves. Good character, well acted.

That’s as may be - but, apart from her dog, they haven’t … ahem … bedded her in to the village. No unshakeable ties, doesn’t own any property. They’ve had months and months to establish her in a relationship but declined to do so. All of which has made her seem very fleeting and peripheral and difficult to invest in.

I care more about Adam getting his reward for all the years of physical toil and imaginative energy he’s put into Home Farm - often in the face of antagonism and ridicule. (Or at least, that’s how I remember it!)

WhoppingBigBackside · 01/06/2023 14:48

There's more to Stella though. There's the link with Justin Elliott.
The surprise visitor to Fridge Barm was the person from the council.

I want a knitted ferret.
