Thanks Asking

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/08/2021 13:57

Thanks Asking.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/08/2021 14:30

What puzzles me about this is that the Casey wedding was to be at Brookfield, and was mentioned as being so really quite recently. So why are they now apparently infesting Lower Loxley Hall?

Thursday 15th July, 2021, summary says "He [David] says it's a good day: Steph Casey wants to rebook her wedding" and on Monday 2nd August, 2021, "Steph Casey has rung with a catering enquiry, and Ruth has also had someone ringing about a wedding in the autumn, so Ruth is cleaning up the wedding barn".

Edmontine · 15/08/2021 14:41

Indeed. Total confusion all round ...

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 16/08/2021 09:38

I was wondering that, too, @AskingQuestionsAllTheTime. Is it a ridiculous thought to wonder if the SWs are so lacking in continuity that they have bungled it completely, with one SW working on a strand where the Casey wedding is at Brookfield and a second SW working on a strand where the Casey wedding is at Lower Loxley? Or are the Caseys deliberately sowing confusion amongst the Archer siblings? Has another Casey surreptitiously booked at "The Bull" for the same wedding?

Edmontine · 16/08/2021 09:47

I mean - one assumes she’s still getting married at Brookfield but all the prep is being discussed at LL because Vince is there. But this seems ridiculously over-complicated.

I wouldn’t put it past them to have the Brookfield Barn fall down the day before the wedding, so the event has to be hastily re-located.

But wait - why did Stephanie turn up at LL a couple of months ago? She was shown round - was that wedding related? Confused Confused Confused

Tying myself in knots ...

Gh0stontoast · 16/08/2021 10:55

Who’s doing the catering at the Casey Brookfield Wedding?

Is it Pip’s responsibility? No - she will drop out the evening before leaving Josh to rush round Borchester buying up vittles and doing the cooking and serving, all while David and Ruth moan about him for doing a bad job.
Will it be Fallon, using Jennifer’s special roulade recipe adapted to include Casey pork?
Or is it a bargain special, which is Ruth serving up (slightly burnt) Dr Oetker pizzas?

Edmontine · 20/08/2021 09:29

So ... Steph Casey’s wedding on Sunday!

Don’t suppose there’s any hope that Pip will not put in an appearance?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 21/08/2021 18:29

Once more into the spoilers. Lots of characters this week, unlike previous ones.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 22nd - 26th August 2021
Steph Casey’s wedding finally arrives but for father Vince, his big speech is the least of his problems. Can the special day go off without a hitch?
Tracy’s struggles over her daughter’s education continue. Lily comes up with a solution, but it might not be what Jazzer had in mind. And talking of different ideas, the Aldridges start their search for Adam’s replacement but - unsurprisingly - there’s little agreement on what’s required.
Over at Brookfield, Ben gears himself up for a big confession, while receiving words of very different advice in each ear. And Susan and Neil plan their long overdue night all by themselves, or so they hope.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 22nd - 26th August 2021
Can we get all those entries for the scarecrow competition posted along the banks of the mighty Am as a warning? A number of ill-advised outsiders are headed for the village this week, including some crazy hopefuls who think that stepping into Adam's gumboots to work alongside Brian will be a good career move. These candidates will be jostled to one side in their attempts to get to Ambridge by sharp elbows and big hats of the guests for Steph Casey's wedding. Difficult last-minute demands add to the stresses of the day, while Vince has more on his mind than his speech.

Edmontine · 21/08/2021 18:51

So Ben is the Scarecrow culprit!

And clearly Beth Casey will be Elizabeth’s new best friend.

All sounds excellent.

Thanks!

WhoppingBigBackside · 21/08/2021 18:57

Pat! Thanks Asking

Is Stella an applicant for Adam's job?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/08/2021 20:46

Thanks, Asking! Looking forward to the return of Pat. Less so, Pip, but into every life a little rain must fall. Sad

I assume Stella is keen to replace Adam. Poor deluded woman.

Surely Ben wouldn't have done the scarecrow nonsense? Because he's Ruairi's best mate and Alice said horrible things to Ruairi and Ruairi left the village? Primary school playground stuff, if so.

Edmontine · 22/08/2021 07:37

I was sceptical when someone suggested Ben on the other thread. But that does seem to be what the teasers are teasing.

Can’t believe I woke up excited about TA this morning! 🎊

WhoppingBigBackside · 22/08/2021 19:30

Enjoyed tonight's episode.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/08/2021 11:52

I'm sorry for the delay in posting these: I have been doing a bit of country-wide dashing around. And it will happen next Friday/Saturday as well; apologies in advance.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 28th August - 3rd September 2021
An old face from Lilian's past rears their head - which might leave you thinking Tiger's back in town. But wait, this is a mysterious woman who wants to do business with Justin. And what dirt does she also have on Mrs Bellamy?
At Greenacres, the best-laid plans of Jazzer and Tracy go awry when their staycation scheme is interrupted by Alistair bringing home a tricky, havoc-wreaking customer.
Later in the week, sparks fly at the surgery when the normally methodical Jakob starts struggling under pressure and ends up pulling the plug on one village resident's dream - all of which results in an employee venting spleen and dishing out a few home truths. But will the situation improve?

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 28th August - 3rd September 2021 Beaters and gun dogs push their way through the brambles, keen to flush out any lingering guests from the Casey wedding. While their attention is turned, a determined outsider makes it across the mighty Am. It’s a mysterious woman from Lilian’s murky past who wants to do business with Justin. She also seems to have some dirt on the widow Bellamy and, let’s face it, there’s a mound of it to be had out there. Will this mystery woman put a halt to Justin and Lilian’s plans to invest in their joint future? Meanwhile, Alistair brings havoc into Jazzer and Tracey’s lives, and there’s trouble up at the surgery as Jakob struggles under pressure, hears some home truths, and pulls the plug on one Ambridger’s dreams.

Someone called Denise used to be Alistair's veterinary nurse, so she is probably the one telling Jakob some home truths; Nancy must therefore be the arrival from Lilian's past.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/08/2021 11:59

Nancy Smith, played by June Spenser, was the Treggorans' maid in the sixties, and Nancy Tarrant, played by Jackie Clarke, was the mother of Nelson Gabriel's daughter Rosemary; I don't see how either is particularly likely to be part of Lilian's past, and they seem to be the only people of that name in the Genome, The Book of The Archers or The Archers Encyclopaedia.

Edmontine · 29/08/2021 12:07

Still … Frances Barber. Shock

No need to apologise Asking! We’re grateful for all you do - but you have no unshakeable duties!

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/08/2021 12:32

Oh I love Frances Barber! Wish she'd have a regular part in TA

And thanks, as always, Asking

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/08/2021 14:33

Many thanks, Asking! Intriguing stuff.

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/08/2021 14:35

PS Ben wasn't the scarecrow culprit - his big confession was that he wanted to dump his girlfriend in the hope of copping off with Beth Casey. So the scarecrow storyline is a loose end.

OP posts:
Edmontine · 29/08/2021 15:01

Indeed! I kept meaning to concede my wrongness over Ben’s confession.

Unless it was Alice herself, I can only imagine it was one of the emerging teens, though I can’t, for the moment, think of any bearing significant animosity towards her.

WhoppingBigBackside · 29/08/2021 18:00

Thanks Asking. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Madcats · 30/08/2021 19:26

So we are back down to a cast of 8, 2 of whom are likely to be passing through.

I hope there are some arguments about the Flower and Produce Show in the next fortnight- my neck of the woods is full of the things in September!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/08/2021 19:43

All eight of them were in tonight's episode, too.

Jemand · 30/08/2021 23:02

Sounds like Jakob is going to give the thumbs down to the horse, which I must say I'm quite glad about. Spending that sort of money when it's not as if Lil has ever shown any massive interest in eventing before is just annoying.
