Well done to whoever guessed!

ILoveShula · 19/07/2021 20:25

Thanks for the spoilers Asking.
I wonder who Spence is.

Terhou · 20/07/2021 14:08

Let's hope Spence is the person taking Alice back to rehab. But I'm a bit concerned that Chris's race against time is to do with Alice trying to do a runner with the baby.

ILoveShula · 20/07/2021 17:28

Alice's reappearance will cause a crisis at Ambridge View. I think that Susan and Neil will fall out big time and Susan will kick him out. With no room at the inn Neil will seek refuge at The Stables.

Edmontine · 20/07/2021 19:18

At last!!!

Although ... Hmm My life would have been very different if there'd been a friendly vicar and countless open-doored (and long abandoned) friends to lift me out of every hole ...

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/07/2021 14:13

And here we have next week's cast-and-writers and various spoilers:

BBC One-Liners
26 July Ian demands the truth and Roy makes an impression.
27 July It’s crisis point for Adam and Lynda is keen to up the ante.
28 July Roy has romance on his mind and Kate puts her foot in it.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 26th - 29th July 2021
Roy has romance in mind when he meets online date Leyla, but obstacles in his path include Phoebe, Kate....and a long-horned cow.
At Honeysuckle Cottage Ian's suspicions reach fever pitch, and when he confronts the matter he lands himself and others in trouble.
Lynda is making it her mission to secure a celebrity to add sparkle to the fete and tasks Lilian with stalking her prey. If all goes wrong, perhaps they could ask Harry Redknapp? (He was surprisingly good when he cameoed recently on EastEnders.)
Finally, Helen urges caution, and when Adam opens his heart, one Ambridge resident makes a controversial suggestion.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 26th - 29th July 2021
Deathwatch beetles tapped away at the ageing timber of Honeysuckle Cottage, and the gable end collapsed one dark night, causing Nelson Gabriel, all tucked up in his black silk sheets, to pass out cold. Siobhan Donovan fell in love with the cursed cottage, hoping to be build a happy home there - and look how that worked out for her! Now, more trouble brews under the picturesque thatch as Ian’s suspicions reach fever pitch.
Undaunted by this sad example of love gone sour, Roy spruces himself up and sets off to meet his on-line date, Leyla. Will it work out for him, or will his former squeeze, Kate, nip this romance in the bud?

####################################################################

Goodness me, Leyla is real and actually speaks! Will Phoebe and Kirsty have to eat a bit of humble pie? Is Phoebe constitutionally capable of admitting she made a mistake?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/07/2021 14:13

(Assuming that she did, of course.)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/07/2021 14:19

Thanks, Asking!

Margaret Cabourn-Smith is really good in John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, so I hope she gets something to sink her teeth into here. I suppose it's possible she's been lying about something, but presumably not about existing. Grin

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/07/2021 14:22

Or being (or at least appearing) female; even Roy would notice if she were six foot four with a beard...

Edmontine · 24/07/2021 19:20

Curiouser and ... Here's what actor David Seddon says on his website:

June 2021: David is thrilled to be back in Ambridge, reprising the role of Michael Park in The Archers. Listen out for him in July on BBC Radio 4.

Please someone, put me out of my misery. I have no recollection whatsoever of any Michael Park in Ambridge. Confused

But thanks, Asking!

ILoveShula · 24/07/2021 20:08

Thanks Asking.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/07/2021 20:16

Edmontine he was the bloke from the soil group

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/07/2021 20:17

Oh, and thanks Asking

Edmontine · 24/07/2021 22:26

Thank you, Bore. Weirdly I remember Kate's wall suggestion (because Trump), and the lost retreat, but still nothing at all about Mr Park.

How young and innocent we all were in 2018 ... Seems like a different world, now.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/07/2021 22:40

It does Edmontine Sad

Madcats · 26/07/2021 18:16

Does anybody else think that it's a bit odd that Bridge Fresh, or whatever that app was called, has barely had a mention?

Have Tom/Tash become millionaires? Or did Tash max out their credit cards so that they are subsisting on pot noodles?

With lockdown eased, let's hope the editor and SW's have an away day and come up with some plausible storylines.

StationView · 26/07/2021 19:08

Ha! Helen having to do childcare Grin! Notice that Ian had to ask twice & she still didn't say yes!

StationView · 26/07/2021 19:25

Sorry, wrong thread Confused

Terhou · 27/07/2021 23:10

Alice is struggling to stay in control on the 9th, and the whole week looks pretty disastrous for the Aldridge's. The Amy solution doesn't seem to be destined to last long.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/07/2021 10:36

Alice cannot struggle to stay in control: she isn't in control and hasn't been for some time. Struggle to get into control, perhaps, or to get herself under control...

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 31/07/2021 15:06

At least next week we will have one writer who has known the Archers, and more to the point the characters, for more than five minutes...

BBC One-Liners
2 August Events spiral out of control for Shula while David feels uneasy
3 August Neil tries to pick up the pieces and Josh admits to an oversight
4 August Ruairi takes a brave step while one resident struggles with their circumstances
5 August Chris is pulled in all directions and Alistair guesses the truth

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 2nd - 5th August 2021
Shula's starting to feel paranoid after an innocent comment is made. But her actions soon lead to trouble. An emotional Neil, meanwhile, is struggling in the wake of recent events, but his attempts to do the right thing only look set to make matters worse. And when tempers start to fray, he's left more bewildered than ever.
Over at Brookfield, David can't help but fear the worst following Josh's actions. But will Josh prove his dad wrong? Ruairi tries to cheer up Brian and Jennifer, who are still concerned about Alice. And debate rages about the identity of Lynda's mystery guest for the upcoming summer fete.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 2nd - 5th August 2021
Was it Professor Plum in the library, with a candlestick? Or Colonel Mustard in the study with a revolver? Or Mrs Aldridge in the kitchen with one of her hefty Le Creuset frying pans - and a list of motives as long as your arm? Ruairi, who’s set himself the daunting challenge of lifting spirits at Willow Cottage, gets a game of Cluedo going. He hopes for a cosy, domestic scene but, as the game heats up, one member of the troubled and troublesome clan makes a confession.
Meanwhile, the doggedly decent Neil, who’s struggling with recent events, tries to do the right thing, but seems to be making matters worse.

===========================================================================

We also don't get Alice, which is a relief. Maybe Amy rings up to report on her, or beg for help, whichever will be more unpleasant for Brian (the editorial team seem to enjoy pulling the wings off flies).

ILoveShula · 01/08/2021 18:00

Thanks Asking.
I don't care who the mystery guest speaker is.

I really like Alice. No Pip, so that's good.

Edmontine · 05/08/2021 15:20

Mildly excited about Amy’s appearance tonight! (According to the BBC sounds schedule.)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/08/2021 17:39

Must be tonight: it's the last episode this week, isn't it? Maybe she rings up to say Alice really needs to go home and Amy can't stand it any more!
