All right, who was it who was saying we hadn't heard from Brookfield for a while? Tsk!

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 12th- 15th July 2021
Beechwood is Ambridge’s equivalent of Wisteria Lane in Desperate Housewives - a street where mysteries lurk behind every neatly trimmed hedge. And now Lee is about to discover it isn’t quite the utopian community he’d imagined, while Joy finds herself piggy in the middle when a secret is let out of the bag.
At Brookfield, nerves threaten to get the better of Ben ahead of his nursing interview. But he’s not the only one at the farm with the jitters, as the date of the cattle auction draws near. And there’s big drama for the Grundys: chauffeur Eddie receives more than the big tip he’d bargained for; and then Ed gets an unwelcome blast from the past.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 12th- 15th July 2021
While an awkward Ed finds himself face to face with an unwelcome blast from the past, Eddie takes on his first big chauffeuring gig - but is he about to get more than the big tip he’s bargained for?
At Brookfield, nerves threaten to get the better of Ben ahead of his nursing interview, before Ruth steps in with some canny advice on how he can clinch a place in the course of his dreams.
Elsewhere in Ambridge, David is acting unexpectedly chipper, Roy’s in the mood for romance, Phoebe’s feeling protective, and Joy finds herself piggy in the middle when the Beechwood secret is finally let out of the bag.

(The two diaries seem to have originated in the same press release more obviously than usual.)

That'll be the spiteful Whatsapp group, then?

Thanks, Asking!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/07/2021 05:48

Thanks, Asking! Two unfamiliar names in the cast. Who do we think Adrian and Paula are?

OP posts:
Edmontine · 11/07/2021 07:24

Aha! I'd assumed poor Ed's unwelcome blast from the past would be the evil Tim (?) who had him ferrying illegal substances - but the evil scrote isn't in the cast list. So presumably either Adrian or Paula is the person.

Wish I'd listened with more attention the other week when Lee was chattering about the Whatsapp group - did he mention a Paula?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/07/2021 11:47

Marilyn, Bernadette, Wesley and I think it was Eustace were mentioned as living at Beechwood, but I don't remember a Paula or an Adrian.

The only Adrian in the cast-lists since 2009 is Adrian Flynn, and he's a scriptie. Paula doesn't appear at all until next week.

Edmontine · 11/07/2021 13:19

Had to laugh at 'Sandra' last week. There is no way on earth that such a well-spoken drama school grad sounding young woman would have had parents who chose 'Sandra' as her name. She was quite clearly a Cressida, Xanthe or Kitty. Unless rehab staff adopt a fake name for work-related anonimity?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/07/2021 14:45

Cassandra, perhaps? Rebelling against being a Cass or a Cassie, she ended up with Sandra...

ILoveShula · 11/07/2021 17:19

What's wrong with Sandra? A friend's DD is Sandra, and another friend has a Sandie. Both are in their 20s.

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/07/2021 18:01

Sandra was originally a short form of Alexandra.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 11/07/2021 18:08

@CaptainMyCaptain

Sandra was originally a short form of Alexandra.
And Xander, as we know, is a shortened form of Alexander.
CaptainMyCaptain · 11/07/2021 18:22

Perhaps she spells it Xandra

Edmontine · 11/07/2021 18:46

Sandra: Hannah Young - is what was in the cast list. (I wondered the same!)

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2021 13:56

Thanks Asking.

Roy's in the mood for romance? Hmm...

ILoveShula · 12/07/2021 14:40

Thanks Asking

Adrian and Paula might be Ben's interviewers.

The Beechwood thing will be about Helen'&Rob. Adrian & Paula might be Beechwood residents.

Why shouldn't Roy be in the mood for romance, he's been single for ages. Paula might be a date of his.

CaptainMyCaptain · 12/07/2021 19:47

Now we know who Adrian and Paula are. I'm so excited waiting for the outcome of this story. NOT.

KimikosNightmare · 13/07/2021 22:38

Who was Sandra?
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/07/2021 22:59

The receptionist at the rehab centre.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 18/07/2021 17:43

And here we go again with next's week's enthralling episodes. Or deeply uninteresting, who knows.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary 19th - 22nd July 2021
To say that Brian and Adam have been bad-tempered with each other of late is something of an understatement. In fact, there are times when I’ve thought their bust-ups would result in Brian being strangled with his own cravat. But the pair are now promising to be on their best behaviour - until, that is, a surprise visitor sets the cat back among the pigeons. And it’s not just listeners who might be experiencing deja vu, as Ian discovers that Adam once again has something to hide.
In other news, Helen is put on the back foot thanks to a tricky customer at Bridge Farm, and Ruairi and Ben head out to paint the town red.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update 19th - 22nd July 2021
Remember Pawel, the Polish picker, and all that larking about in the polytunnels? Pawel was just one of Adam’s dark secrets and now, as Ian discovers, old Adam’s got something else to hide.
As luck would have it, this latest secret emerges just as things are kicking off over at Willow Cottage. The exiled Aldridges (and just who is living in their old home, Home Farm, these days?) get an unexpected visitor who brings chaos to that already uneasy household.
Things aren’t exactly idyllic over at Bridge Farm, either, where Helen has to deal with a tricky customer - as well as standing by while Lee jostles for centre stage.
Meanwhile Kirsty and Phoebe go sleuthing, Brian misses a cue, and one Ambridger is offered a second chance.

=============================================================================

My bet is that Alice does a runner from rehab, and that is the shock that Brian gets. Meanwhile Helen has a face-off with Kyle.

BoreOfWhabylon · 18/07/2021 18:02

Thanks Asking. Wonder who Spence is? Poss someone from rehab who Alice has done a runner with?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/07/2021 19:53

Thanks, Asking. I imagine the sleuthing is to do with the woman Roy has been chatting to online/on the phone but who has no internet presence.

Didn't teenage 'Gets-on-your-Pip' have a boyfriend called Spence?
(Listener of 35+ years and long-term lurker, I usually only post something about once a year)

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 19/07/2021 15:20

Spencer, rather than Spence, the son of a local farmer, brother to twocking Steve who got Jamie into trouble mostly in Ambridge Extra. His surname was given as Wilkes.

Spencer went out with Pip between May 2011 and the end of 2013.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/07/2021 17:18

Hello, Alleycat! Don't be a stranger - you don't have to wait for next July to post again. Grin

Hello Gaspode, thank you. I found that I never really needed to post as Francis Crawford always said what I wanted to say anyway and in the way I would have said it. However, this poster seems to have disappeared so I may put my five pence worth in occasionally.
