Even if you don't have a leg(?), a life or a clue, Welcome to the first ever 85th Archers thread! Smile

Wild speculation and sensible questions always welcome - especially any newcomers.

A little game for the weekend, inspired by Timetogetup0630 and Gruach on the last thread:

Invent an explanation for how your username was the inspiration for an Archers storyline, character, etc - be creative!

My username is telling the story of Toby, Adam and Ian, although it probably needs some punctuation: Dad! Dad/Dad? Grin

dairyfarmerswife - bit too easy for you, but as professional country folk maybe you could judge the winner? Star

Credit to MrsGrindah for the clever thread title

£120k.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/02/2018 18:06

I am so hoping the AA conference will be available on Youtube.

Can't wait to hear about Ambridge as a centre of insurgency

Britain in 2026. A minority government is struggling to maintain control as a radical insurgent movement led by a charismatic fanatic with links to terror groups is wreaking havoc. Intelligence reports suggest a small village in the English countryside has become the hub of this revolutionary activity.

But who will the charismatic fanatic leader be?

Freddie?

I assume Keepers Cottage comes with his job and he rents No 1 The Green out with no mortgage

Bekabeech · 13/02/2018 18:09

birds but he has a rent free "tied" cottage to live in, and makes a fair bit in "tips" at an average shoot. He was whinging about his tips being down at the New Year one, I think he expects about £100 from most of the guns at a shoot. That adds up to a tidy bonus.

TheAntiBoop · 13/02/2018 19:09

Jill being nanny is ridiculous

Mootsie · 13/02/2018 19:33

Isn't Doctor Locke (where's he gone) living in Keeper's Cottage now and it belongs to Hazel?

MikeUniformMike · 13/02/2018 19:43

It was £120 IIRC.
Why is it ridiculous for Jill to be the nanny? She's only 86 or 87.

birdsdestiny · 13/02/2018 19:54

Although I suppose Jennydarling did to Will what he did to Emma. She obviously had never been in the Mexican restaurant as it was way too common. I need to get out more.

cheminotte · 13/02/2018 20:31

Interesting castrating process - I heard it over breakfast but didn’t bother me.

meredintofpandiculation · 13/02/2018 22:08

He is listed as 58 online making him over 20 years her senior as she's only mid 30s. Philip told Brian there was 10-12 years between him and Kirsty

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/02/2018 23:25

Kirsty (character) is 38. Kirsty actress was born in 1973.

Philip actor is 58 but Philip character is clearly supposed to be younger - around 50. So not too old at all.

echt · 14/02/2018 08:43

Well, Brine's arse creeping didn't pay off. At all.

Loved hearing the other women saying Jill had done her share etc. rather like those posters on MN threads. Plainly she means well but full-time care of a baby, which is what I think is implied, is probably not a good idea. Though Pip clearly thinks it takes a village farm to raise child. :o

Misericord · 14/02/2018 09:03

Emma is DREADFUL. She is such a cow.

Misericord · 14/02/2018 09:04

And Helen and her superior attitude can bugger right off.

R4 · 14/02/2018 09:32

And Helen and her superior attitude can bugger right off.

I do think that Susan missed a trick. When Helen was telling her to back off and leave Pat alone, Susan should have expressed some sickly-sweet faux concern, sympathising with Pat's tiredness. It must be exhausting for Pat'n'Tone, in their retirement, to be looking after Helen's children so much.

1978 Hmm

From the Archers website-

Played by:
Annabelle Dowler
Born:
5 May 1981

As I said she's mid 30s (35)

@BoreOfWhabylon

Abra1de · 14/02/2018 10:40

Emma showed a previously well-hidden kind side to Oliver when Caroline died and they went on the picnic with him.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/02/2018 10:46

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annabelle_Dowler

Annabelle Dowler (born 1973) is an English actress. She was born and raised in Formby, Merseyside and attended Holy Family High School.

5 May 1981 is Kirsty's birthdate, which makes her (Kirsty) 37 in May

@Potteryprincess30

Potteryprincess30 · 14/02/2018 10:48

@BoreOfWhabylon oh so she's 36, a whole year out Confused I must get my maths straight

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/02/2018 10:57

Not sure what point you're trying to make, but my point is that both actors are playing younger that their actual age.

Philip character is supposed to be 10-12 years older than Kirsty character.

Not unusual IRL or in TA.

ppeatfruit · 14/02/2018 11:04

You are quite right DFW I remember thinking at the time, when he was mending the hunt kennels' roof that he's a 'good' builder who will no doubt turn up again.

Shame for Shula he's not interested in married women who are bored Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/02/2018 11:10

I don't think she realises that yet ppeat Grin

ppeatfruit · 14/02/2018 11:15

Grin Bore I reckon that he's meant to be quite sexy and Kirstie probably is going for that aspect rather than the fact that he's 'country sports' type Grin He's got a nice voice Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/02/2018 11:27

I agree he's supposed to be a bit of all right and thoroughly nice chap, to boot. Also, yes, v nice voice. I have seen the actor picture though and, as usual, he looks nothing like the character.

When will I learn not to look? Grin

ppeatfruit · 14/02/2018 11:35

Grin Who says "thoroughly nice chap". isn't it Tim Nice But Dim on the Fast Show? Grin
