Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

I just wish Anisha would come back and sort out all these unsolved crimes. Does she outrank Harrison?

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2017 12:27

R4 Everyone in TA who's approaching 80 or 90 can be doing circus tricks and or saving the planet. Grin Chris is a normalish old lady. Let her be.

It's quite nice to have someone different to the fore shame her acting is a bit crap Grin

TheAntiBoop · 26/11/2017 12:38

A few months back Justin said he was going to find out what Matt was up to. Given how easily Lillian unraveled the whole thing I can't see how Justin didn't know. It's a ridiculous sl

Gruach · 26/11/2017 12:43

Surely they're playing to Christine's strengths? GrinShe has cultivated a whiny and wounded tone even when everything's perfect bar the odd burnt currant. Losing £300k gives ample scope for her preferred manner of articulation. And gives Peggy even more opportunity for 'Lady Bountiful holds her nose' antics.

I'm actually pleased to see Christine given a moment in the limelight, even if the story is all bad news. I imagine this kind of thing isn't rare? (Sadly I won't be the sort of elderly person with zillions to lose ...)

cheminotte · 26/11/2017 14:35

Did I hear correctly that Peggy was saying she would pay for Christine's care if it came to it? Isn't Peggy older than Christine (90-something)?

R4 · 26/11/2017 14:48

Isn't Peggy older than Christine (90-something)?

Dan had three children: Jack (husband of Peggy) was the eldest, Christine was the youngest. Peggy has just had her 93rd birthday, Chris will soon have her 86th. However, I'll leave it to you to decide which one has the most marbles left.Hmm
I did think that they might use this SL to kill off Christine (it was the shock wot did it) but, on reflection, would you like to go down in history as the editor who killed off the world's longest-serving character/actor combo?

Puremince · 26/11/2017 15:58

Won't Tony moan if he sees his inheritance disappear into care home fees for Christine? Jennifer could manage without an inheritance, but Lillian's need might end up broke and looking for help from her mother, too.

Gruach · 26/11/2017 19:05

Hmm Well this is silly.

Gruach · 26/11/2017 19:07

I mean Adam. SWs tying themselves in knots now.

BertrandRussell · 26/11/2017 19:15

Yawn.........

extinctspecies · 26/11/2017 19:24

Hasn't anyone in Ambridge opened a newspaper or been online ever? Why the surprise that there may be a few 'issues' with Brexit ...?!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/11/2017 19:44

It was never plausible to me that Adam was the only person in Ambridge who spoke out in favour of Brexit before the referendum. And now he's the only person in Ambridge expressing doubts? Hmm Confused

What's with Alice being so gung ho about it? That's extremely odd too.

AuldHeathen · 26/11/2017 19:59

What was Adam tying knots in? l need to LA. Hmm

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/11/2017 21:24

Ian has lost the plot hasn't he?

TheAntiBoop · 26/11/2017 21:39

Much like the sw'ers

Gruach · 27/11/2017 08:33

I see TA is about to be featured in You and Yours on R4 this morning. Apparently their reporter advised on the Christine story.

(I find Y&Y unlistenable to - but I'm sure other people might enjoy ...)

ppeatfruit · 27/11/2017 08:51

extinct and Gasp I heard that AFTER the referendum the most googled question was 'What is the EU".

Most of us haven't a scooby about it ! Including the govt. Cripes Shock

extinctspecies · 27/11/2017 09:12

Gruach Y&Y is one of my favourite programmes. It's on when I break from work for an early lunch so I listen a lot...

Iris65 · 27/11/2017 14:12

Oh God. The effect of Brexit on farming public information spot.

ppeatfruit · 27/11/2017 14:28

Well TA is about farming Iris Grin

I like more everyday issues being discussed, like Christmas,] In our family I get peed off about the emphasis on ONE day!! AAAaaaah.

I'm old fashioned, what happened to the 12 days of Christmas? Grin

Ceto · 27/11/2017 15:06

Goodness knows I think Brexit is the most bloody stupid idea ever, but even I think they could have put up a better supporter for it than Alice at her most vacuous.

AuldHeathen · 27/11/2017 15:11

I know, ppeat. I can’t believe Boy3 is going to a Christmas Party tonight! I very helpfully pointed out he shouldn’t drink alcohol on a Monday in November when he has a dissertation to write. TBF he isn’t drinking much these days and l suspect tonight’s been chosen so they can avoid the end of term rush of final drafts Hmm - if only! - and tests.

AuldHeathen · 27/11/2017 15:13

I agree, ceto, they could even have had Jenny and Lilian discussing it. They seem to have lots of time for reading news and current affairs. Much more useful in the circs than wedding flowers etc.

ppeatfruit · 27/11/2017 15:27

Ref Alice's vacuousness ,t'll come back and bite her on the bum! If the SWs remember!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/11/2017 16:58

Listening to Y&Y now. It starts about 05:48 into today's episode.
