Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

She's going to have Brookfield eventually so why doesn't she just move back to her room there when she's had enough of Lower Loxley.

When D&R were heirs-in-waiting they didn't live in the farmhouse, they lived in the bungalow. It makes sense for her to live in Rickyard when she is part of a couple (except that D&R don't know that she is part of a couple because Pip is back to lies and deception again). Is there actually a bedroom to go back to? Did we ever establish how many rooms Brookfield has?

What I find extremely weird is David's over-interest in her love life. It reminds me of that time when Ruth was away a lot and David and Pip got close in a creepy and disturbing way.

TheAntiBoop · 13/11/2017 08:40

Brookfield isn't a good advert for farming families. It's totally dysfunctional and if you're not the first born then you're nothing

Pip lying about Toby is just another signal that she is not a nice person. Yet her parents will find some reason to justify her behaviour.

At least we seem to be at the end of the Rex/Toby/pip triangle

robinR · 13/11/2017 08:47

I find David really annoying. He's like a spoiled child when things don't go his way and he expects his kids to be a carbon copy of himself.

Instead of letting them make their own mistakes he rants and raves fruitlessly, then once he calms down he realises it's not the disaster he thought it was.

He must be exhausting to live with, he always seems ready to go off the deep end.

I think the kids have done well to forge ahead despite him, to be honest. He's not the most supportive father, except when he's getting exactly his own way.

I do know farming families like that, though, so perhaps it's a fair warning.

Considering the whole storyline has been pretty crap and not remotely intriguing, I enjoyed last night with Lillian coming to her senses. She acted it well too. Boop!

Saker · 13/11/2017 11:07

I presume I'm being a bit thick, but I don't understand why was Matt buying racehorses in the first place since there was no racecourse etc to buy them for? If the Melling Equestrian thing is a scam why do they want to spend tens of thousands on expensive horses?

AuntyElle · 13/11/2017 11:52

Saker, will they may be show the horses off to the investors as a kind of 'proof'/reassurance and then sell them on? But I doubt the SL all adds up.

Saker · 13/11/2017 11:55

I guess they might, but it seems a very expensive and complicated way of doing it, by a company that weren't prepared to spend the money on a half decent office. Confused

TheAntiBoop · 13/11/2017 14:02

Also, who reports fraud to 101?

Gruach · 13/11/2017 14:11

It will/would be a shame to have no more Pusscat and Tiger dialogue. They're so great together.

Vango · 13/11/2017 14:22

That was one thing that struck me last night Gruach. How natural and believable they are. Great acting.

AuntyElle · 13/11/2017 14:38

Agree, Gruach and Vango. I blame SOC for buggering about with Matt's character ages ago.

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2017 16:17

Sorry Aunty Soc didn't send him to prison for fraud originally... (Ahem) many years ago, Matt has always been a shit.

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2017 16:23

Also Matt paid some hit men to 'warn' off his half brother, who Lil was shagging,. which caused his death, not a great loss but still.. Let's face it they are all the shady side of the county set.

Oh and Matt cruelly FORCED Lilian to attend the funeral, he pretended that he didn't know about their affair.

Gruach · 13/11/2017 19:15

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Now this is just ridiculous. Whatever possessed them?

Vango · 13/11/2017 19:19

Lexi for surrogate? If Adam's not banged up? #freetheambridgeoneagain

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 13/11/2017 22:24

Lexie would have pointed out it was Adam's behaviour which ruined things , not Roy's

And bore off Ian. That was a nasty, spiteful remark.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 13/11/2017 22:28

Ooh she did , sort of. Half a boop.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 13/11/2017 22:55

First time Archers poster but sick of having no one to discuss it with (other than MIL but I can’t phone her just to whinge about the archers!)...

I’m finding this whole hit and run storyline very convoluted and loads of things over the last 6 months seem like an obvious build up to this now! The twins’ driving lessons, Freddie’s (very occasional) recreational drug use, the speed watch campaign, Josh’s new car... surely it’s one of the youngsters?

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 13/11/2017 23:00

Also what is going on with Anisha?! Surely she can’t just go off for weeks at a time constantly and still have a job? I do get the sense that she might be trouble.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 13/11/2017 23:24

Lillian might be in trouble too. The money Matt paid back was quite clearly from a dubious source. She must have known that.

Anisha doesn't have a job. She is a partner in the business, not an employee, and she may well be breaching the terms of the partnership agreement (devoting sufficient time to the business) assuming they have signed a written agreement.

EBearhug · 14/11/2017 01:56

Also, who reports fraud to 101?

Well, it's not an emergency, is it? It's been going on for months, so it's not like coming home to find the place has been burgled, or running someone over in a dark lane...

TheAntiBoop · 14/11/2017 08:08

A quick Google gives the phone number for the fraud line. Which Is the number 101 should have given her. This really isn't something that would be delegated to Harrison....

AuntyElle · 14/11/2017 08:27

Yeah, but she was supposedly totally incapable of googling Phillip's number when it disappeared from her phone Hmm

AuntyElle · 14/11/2017 08:39

It's a big ole mess isn't it? I know it can't be true to life, but they get so much pointlessly wrong, which just makes it, erm, rubbish.
Plus there is no feeling that the various SLs are going anywhere, they just muddle and lurch along. And we know that in last few years lots have been abandoned or fizzled out.
Home Front is so much better at this. I always feel like it's leading somewhere, that it actually has a plot, and that route is done quite cleverly. With twists and turns, surprises and slow-boilers. Plus really well developed characters. I know it's not continuous, but it really shows TA up atm.
