Discuss The Archers here, the long-running thread series started by PseudoBadger. Maybe my puns will tempt her back to take the reigns?

I think Sleeping Beauty references can wait until the next thread which will probably cover much of December.

Lurkers de-lurk! New to The Archers? you're welcome here; the friendly crowd will answer your questions.

Thanks r4. My guess is based purely on two instances from recent episodes and is definitely just wild speculation on my part nothing else . I think it was..... Nic.

She in a hurry to leave early on the night Matt was hit as her little girl was ill. Then, a few episodes later (the one where Alice got hammered in The Bull) Emma asked Nic about how her daughter was and I felt like she was a bit flustered and brushed it off, as if she didn't want any attention drawn to it.

That's it.
I just needed to get it off my chest.
Thank you.

I just needed to get it off my chest.
Another great thread title.Grin

I think we decided that there was too long a period between Nic going off shift and the running over for it to be her.

Can the police stop Matt from leaving the country?

Vango · 10/11/2017 20:06

I think someone hit him, then, a little while later, Justin drove past, spotted him, got out of the car, looked at him, then got back in the car and drove off (hoping Matt would die in the ditch). Hence no marks on Justin's car but an unusual interest in Matt's condition the morning after the accident. And indeed an explanation for his departure.

Gruach · 10/11/2017 20:20

What is Shula hiding?Confused

Gruach · 10/11/2017 20:22

And yes, agreeing with at least two pp, one person knocked him down, another saw him, checked and then left him for dead ...

AuntyElle · 10/11/2017 20:23

Oooh, Harrison getting all masterful and procedural. Have we ever seen that before?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/11/2017 02:52

What is Shula hiding?

Yes, what was all that about?

Imbroglio · 11/11/2017 04:57

Having a heart to heart with Philip on the terrace?

echt · 11/11/2017 05:32

A bit late to all this but very pissed off with SWs who have 72 year-old Matt out of hospital and, presumably on hillbilly heroin for his pain.

OuaisMaisBon · 11/11/2017 08:01

The Soho end of Regent Street can actually get quite scruffy. Or it was, when I last worked round there. Good grief, where did those 26 years go? Grin

JessieMcJessie · 11/11/2017 08:16

Yes Shula’s reaction is quite intriguing actually. I can’t imagine she would have left the hunt ball in full swing, but maybe she decided to go home to pick up a new shoe for Mandy Beesborough or something? And she was probably not drinking due to organiser duties so one of the few to have been fit to drive. However my money is on her having nothing to do with Matt’s accident but having some other minor guilty secret.
We know there is CCTV in the GG car park- am I right however I’m thinking that there has been no reference to the police checking the tape from the night of the HB so they could actually see who was leaving when, rather than asking Shula?

JessieMcJessie · 11/11/2017 08:17

AuntyElle what about when he arrested Jill?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/11/2017 10:37

It hasn't been mentioned but it is the obvious thing to do.

Mandy Beesborough's stiletto is a tissue thin and implausible excuse.

R4 · 11/11/2017 11:06

Mandy Beesborough's stiletto is a tissue thin and implausible excuse.

But an in-joke by the SW? Stiletto - geddit?

JessieMcJessie · 11/11/2017 11:12

No, I wasn’t suggesting that Shula was using Mandy’s shoe as a cover, she didn’t say to Harrison that she had left because of it, just used it as an example if all the things she was busily doing on the night. What I meant was that possibly she did actually leave, genuinely to do something entirely innocent, but this will put her in the frame.

DadDadDad · 11/11/2017 11:27

But what was it that made the police decide this was attempted murder? Obviously, they've known all along that someone hit Matt and drove off, but surely attempted murder means they now have some suspicion that someone did it deliberately with an intent to kill, which must mean they have someone in mind?

Or is this the SW just wielding the announcement of "attempted murder" for dramatic effect with only a vague understanding of how the police work?

Actually, now I put it like that, I think I've just answered my own question... Hmm

Yes, I wondered that too DDD. Maybe it is connected to the video of Adam in the car park? That would be unlikely without Adam being arrested though I think.

Maybe something in the forensics on the skid marks?

JessieMcJessie · 11/11/2017 11:56

But yes, most likely as per your penultimate paragraph...

ppeatfruit · 11/11/2017 12:18

Vango I was on a bus last year going towards Oxford Circ. along Regents Street and on the left there were quite a few emptyish buildings with shabby doorways.

If you want credibility for any sort of fund or investment vehicle you use a Mayfair address

TheAntiBoop · 11/11/2017 13:05

I also have a horrible feeling we are going to end up with another court scene and possible a wrongful conviction

R4 · 11/11/2017 13:07

When does HKJ's reign end? It has to be tied up by then.

ppeatfruit · 11/11/2017 13:09

Some good op thoughts about the 'accident' Yes it could've been Nic rushing to collect her child and not realising that she'd hit anything or ,maybe, that Matt was a human. It could've been Justin who stopped to look at Matt in the ditch and left him there. Is either attempted murder?

AdalindSchade · 11/11/2017 13:11

Harrison definitely meant that evidence pointed to murder I think...
Hopefully Lillian will tell the police what she knows but that wouldn't be very dramatic so I'm sure she will keep it secret for some reason...

TheAntiBoop · 11/11/2017 13:12

I think Harrison is getting ahead of himself and will be made to look an idiot!!
