Thanks, R4, for the title (again!).

I'm your temporary host while PseudoBadger is on her sabbatical / prison term / secret mission.

Old hands and complete newbies all welcome.

Spoilers (eg Radio Times descriptions of future programmes) not welcome.

When will Matt reappear? Before / during / after the wedding?

The floor is yours...

Shula and Alistair are particularly annoying because of the lack of consistency. Alistair was supposed to be hooking up elsewhere to support Shula with the hunt stuff (and didn't she need loads of money) then it morphs into Anisha and spending tonnes on the practice and expanding blah blah. Then with his gambling fears we got Shula fretting for ages about what he was thinking and yet there was nothing from Alistair which seemed unusual for the Archers, following the "drama" of Shula's concern but giving us nothing about Alistair being worried about being tempted (unless I messed something). I don't think we were any clearer about where Alistair was sloping off to than Shula was. And why are we getting the random boring chat about Graham the locum and his short comings?

Largebucket · 24/10/2017 21:02

And Philip! He's a walking plot device. He appears to have no purpose other than have major action or confessions swirl around his presence.

AuntyElle · 24/10/2017 21:21

I'm quite intrigued by Adam getting revengeful impulses.
Freddy and NotNoli's shroom adventure really was cliched tripe tho. Dreading Elizabeth's dreary, "But how could you Freddy" rant.

AuldHeathen · 24/10/2017 21:25

I’m pretty sure Roberta has been mentioned before by Shula- can’t check that out though!

AuldHeathen · 24/10/2017 21:28

Aunty, l just hope whatever Adam does, it isn’t too far fetched. I know, l know. Grin

Largebucket · 24/10/2017 21:32

Adam will face up to Matt, Matt will snarl back and Adam will limp off dismally. Has Adam ever "bested" Matt? Am genuinely interested as can't think of any such occasion

AuntyElle · 24/10/2017 21:45

Whatever Adam does it will involve some epic sighs. And not much action. Hmm

AuldHeathen · 24/10/2017 21:47

Of course Adam’s already been thumped by a crook. It seems quite appropriate that the Ambridge fairy should help him again!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 25/10/2017 00:14

Adam and Ian - sounds like an educational broadcast on the issues around surrogacy, every conversation sounds like no conversation anyone had, ever

Oh that is spot on.

Ceto · 25/10/2017 01:03

Sometimes I like Freddy, sometimes I find him extremely dim and annoying. FFS, he moans about having to retake maths, does it not occur to him that the best way to solve that problem is to get his head down and pass the bloody thing, not spend his time pratting around smoking weed and looking for magic mushrooms.

Imbroglio · 25/10/2017 01:16

I don't like either of the Pargetter twins but I prefer Freddie to Lily.

What happened to his pony?

JessieMcJessie · 25/10/2017 13:07

That's a good point Imbroglio. Used for a storyline then discarded to hang out in the paddock with Cranford Crystal I guess.

Was it Freddie who was legendarily praised by Shula for "gripping with his heels" much to the indignation of all horsey Archers listeners?

Imbroglio · 25/10/2017 13:41

I think of all the equines as a potential 'horse of requirement'. Topper, Spearmint, the long-lived Tolly. Languishing in a paddock or loose box until someone needs them to fulfil a narrative purpose.

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2017 16:27

Gruach Me too it's fun.

The mushroom thing is more than bit risky , but that's teenagers for you, typical IMO. The CA txt on TV said that Noli is leading Freddie into naughtiness but it seemed to me they were equal to it.

DadDadDad · 25/10/2017 16:36

Well Noli was goading Freddie a bit, but he was clearly desperate to prove to her that rural can be as exciting as (D)urban. (sorry).

ppeatfruit · 25/10/2017 16:40

Dadx3 Grin Yes exactly. It's called dicing with death. Quite a daft way to prove it. We have death caps in our garden , I won't touch anything mushroomy in our garden.

RolfNotRudolf · 25/10/2017 17:52

I thought it was a wonderfully bucolic scene of two young people joyfully foraging for free food in a meadow. And showing the youngsters that getting their 5 a day is a cool and hip thing to do. Grin

TheAntiBoop · 25/10/2017 19:09

Gosh the accents are a little painful tonight.

And wtf do we have to have all this lexi crap. So she's the best retain any manager ever - didn't need it spelt out. They could have just told us she has been given the job

And noli is overdoing the sa accent stereotypes interspersed with cut glass english? I can forgive her as she's a young actress though.

Wonder if Nigel used to dry shrooms in the attack?

TheAntiBoop · 25/10/2017 19:14

Well if Matt called the police on Adam I'm assuming lil would be seriously pissed off so I guess it shows he is using her for bastard purposes

Does Lexie have to roll her r's quite that much?

Gruach · 25/10/2017 19:18

Not buying Matt the homophobe.

But I thought Noli deliberately switched to 'yah' and back. Was quite funny.

GrumpyOldBag · 25/10/2017 19:18

I've said it before & I'll say it again.

No-one talks like Lexie in real life - perfect grammar but with a very strong accent.

TheAntiBoop · 25/10/2017 19:20

Matt was just saying what he knew would wind Adam up - doesn't mean he believes it!!

Rrrrrroy won't rrrrrresist herrrrr. It's almost like a party trick.

TheAntiBoop · 25/10/2017 19:21

Is it even a realistic accent though? It reminds me of the English accents you hear on American tv which are ott cut glass

R4 · 25/10/2017 19:27

Adam is a dimwit.
a) Matt was obviously on a wind-up, so why fall for it
b) is Matt really likely to report to the Police/SS if he's leaving the country on Sunday? (or has he let slip that, actually, he's not going to Costa Rica or wherever it is)

Can someone explain why Lexi flew back in from Bulgaria for a three month temporary contract yes, I know it will turn permanent but Lexi doesn't

Vango · 25/10/2017 19:40

Can someone explain why Lexi flew back in from Bulgaria for a three month temporary contract

So that we can hear the fate of recent economic migrants, either employed on an extended temporary contract/recently engaged/unemployed, or other, as Brexit looms.
