Thanks, R4, for the title (again!).

I'm your temporary host while PseudoBadger is on her sabbatical / prison term / secret mission.

Old hands and complete newbies all welcome.

Spoilers (eg Radio Times descriptions of future programmes) not welcome.

When will Matt reappear? Before / during / after the wedding?

The floor is yours...

Such a load of bollocks. Who in their right mind would emigrate away from the NHS to a country where they do not speak the language (perhaps the mispronounciation if jalapeño was meant to illustrate her shit language skills?) when they are just about to get really old? And leaving behind her very old mother, much loved siblings, son, grandchild, horses, lovely village.....for a man who had no compunction about robbing her of her lie savings? She's like one of those people who get drawn into internet scams with Nigerians posing as star-crossed lovers, except worse as she actually knows for certain he's a fraudster!

I think Justin unwittingly played a blinder by booking India, thus reducing the dubious atttraction of Ecuador as an exotic land suitable for her perception of herself as an intrepid traveller.

I am really surprised Kim Durham agreed to come back to act out this nonsense.

Gruach · 23/10/2017 14:11
  • Yeah ... "dessert" really grates.

Weird.

RolfNotRudolf · 23/10/2017 15:53

Perhaps Lillian will realise - shock horror to the SW's - that she doesn't need a man in her life. Her dalliance with Matt will make her realise she's just not in to Justin, nut she'll also recognise that Matt is a cad and a bounder and dump the both of them.
Or perhaps she'll go for the seemingly safe option of marrying Justin then each evening we'll hear her dying a little inside as Justin goes to turn on Countdown, or suggest they go for a "nice drive with a hot flask" or "let's not go out, let's have a quiet evening in instead".

Abra1d · 23/10/2017 16:15

Perhaps she'll marry Justin but keep Matt as a bit on the side.

ppeatfruit · 23/10/2017 16:34

Ecuador is a long way to go for a 'bit on the side'. IIRC she hated Spain? or was it somewhere in Sth America? wherever she went with Matt before.

It would take her 2 weeks to discover that she hated Costa Rica.

jessie she's still the same old Lilian , who's a bit of goer, always with ants in her pants, Kim Durham obviously knows and likes her . Either that or it's a job innit?

AuntyElle · 24/10/2017 09:24

Boop to Emma and Nik. Boop to the bacon sandwich reference.
But anti-boop to Linda's character shift to a total snobby bitch. She used to be really supportive to some younger women.

Ceto · 24/10/2017 10:34

Is Robert really going for the "strong and stable" theme? Surely not?

ppeatfruit · 24/10/2017 11:46

Well if our respected PM can do it , why not him Grin it's just a load of spin . He won't win anyway.

GrumpyOldBag · 24/10/2017 12:36

It's so obvious that Emma is going to win by a landslide...

Either that or it will be very close & there will need to be a recount.

DadDadDad · 24/10/2017 12:42

So, Grumpy, your prediction is that Emma will win by a massive margin or she won't win by a massive margin. I have to say that's not that impressive a prediction. Smile

Imbroglio · 24/10/2017 12:43

Maybe Robert will withdraw his application when he realises Lynda is being a massive bitch to Emma. He will then sleep in the shepherd hut until Xmas.

EBearhug · 24/10/2017 13:09

I think Robert will win, but then he'll realise he doesn't have the interest and passion, so will stand down and Emma will get in.

RockNRollNerd · 24/10/2017 13:34

Definitely a boop for Em and Nik and also for Nik’s return. It pleases me greatly that they are showing the pair of them getting along and supporting each other. I think they make a formidable team.

If only there was a handy lawyer in the village who Shula could speak to about maybe sending a warning letter to Roberta...

Ceto · 24/10/2017 13:37

Emma is irritating when she goes all "Poor me" about not having whizzy leaflets. She chose to stand, after all, no-one made her.

AuntyElle · 24/10/2017 13:40

I'd forgotten Usha existed, Rock, and where's the vicar? How odd.

GrumpyOldBag · 24/10/2017 14:22

Well Emma being set up as the underdog is absolutely a sign she will win, in some dramatic fashion, whether it's by a very narrow margin or a massive one.

ppeatfruit · 24/10/2017 16:58

CetO You must be irritated most of the time Grin . Emm is usually a bit self defeating. It's good that she's active but she could over do things if she's not careful.

Ceto · 24/10/2017 18:01

Umm, yes, that would be right, ppeatfruit! At least when Emmur is on - and Ruth - and Pip - and Toebee - and Eddie - and probably several others. Dunno why I listen really, it must be an addiction.

Gruach · 24/10/2017 19:07

Goodness ...

Grin

Flowers Poor approximation!

RolfNotRudolf · 24/10/2017 19:16

Well that episode brought back happy memories Blush

EBearhug · 24/10/2017 19:28

Have Freddie and Noluthando no sense? Taking shrooms is one thing, but if you haven't got a definite ID, it's a bit of a dangerous gamble. Some are fatal, and if they don't kill you, they can seriously mess up your liver and so on.

And FFS, Lilian.

Gruach · 24/10/2017 19:35

Lilian was hilarious tonight. Loved it.

(Are other soaps doing this kind of thing? I don't see much TV.)

C8H10N4O2 · 24/10/2017 20:32

Either that or it will be very close & there will need to be a recount

I found myself listing to the news this morning thinking that its odd there was no mention of the election. Blush

Perhaps we should be surprised no politicians have turned up for the campaign yet

Largebucket · 24/10/2017 20:54

It's all very very boring at the moment. I'm vaguely interested in Emma's election prospects and I like her chats with Nic but I'm not sure how in character Robert and Lynda are at the moment. I know Robert takes on a battle occasionally but he seems like a very decent chap and I think he'd have discussed why Emma is so keen a bit more than he has.

Toby and Pip - nightmare
Lillian/Matt/Justin - dragging on
Shula/Alistair - there is nothing interesting about their story line and it feels like it's writing on the hoof (so to speak Grin), had the random stable girl ever been mentioned before? It's just drip, drip, drip of misery.
Adam and Ian - sounds like an educational broadcast on the issues around surrogacy, every conversation sounds like no conversation anyone had, ever

Noli and Kate are ok but so much moaning that too much airtime risks destroying the appeal

I'm not really sure why I listen at the moment. I stopped for years after Nigel and the roof and I think it might be time for another sabbatical.

Gruach · 24/10/2017 21:01

I'm rather enjoying it right now.

Lilian torn between two lovers is fairly absorbing. Robert v Emma is shaping up nicely. Noli and Freddie - utterly marvellous.
