Thanks, R4, for the title (again!).

I'm your temporary host while PseudoBadger is on her sabbatical / prison term / secret mission.

Old hands and complete newbies all welcome.

Spoilers (eg Radio Times descriptions of future programmes) not welcome.

When will Matt reappear? Before / during / after the wedding?

The floor is yours...

I Just heard yesterday's and I didn't find it boring, I quite like a bit of quiet time with some crossing of Ts going on.

Of course in RL Tobes and Pip would have torn one anothers' dungarees off in the still. (that's what she likes about him most isn't it ?) Grin On 2nd thoughts that might not have been correct for elf and safety. Toby is growing up and becoming a responsible boy Bert It takes time.

LillianGish · 20/10/2017 15:10

The urban reference went right over my head. I thought we were meant to think Nolli was urban in the true meaning of the word - like when she insisted her Mum took her shopping in London and turned up her nose at Felpersham. I thought Lily was feeling her position as queen of cool in Ambridge was under threat. She likes to present herself as a woman of the world in her big house and with her fast driving, giving advice on relationships to women years older than she is, but basically she’s a country girl with a very narrow sphere of experience. Unlike Nolli.
I think there is a possibility that we obsess about TA in a way that most listeners dont has to be the title for the next thread.

Ceto · 20/10/2017 15:19

'Can't you do this one thing for me Lillian, you owe me that much surely'
Have I mentioned I loathe Matt.

Yes, I was wondering what on earth Lillian owes to the man who disappeared without a word taking all her money with him.

BertrandRussell · 20/10/2017 15:21

"Toby is growing up and becoming a responsible boy Bert It takes time."
He's 30! If he was going to grow up he would have done.

No, Pip is going back to the man who treated her like shit and Lillian is going to choose between the man who treated her like shit in the past and the one who is going to treat her like shit in the future. Deeply depressing.

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2017 15:25

They've done research, it takes a bloke till 37 to grow up. Come on Bert or should it be AntiBoop Grin Pip didn't treat him very well either . She dumped HIM.

BertrandRussell · 20/10/2017 15:28

" Pip didn't treat him very well either . She dumped HIM."

I'm no Pip apologist-but what did she do to him-apart from dumping him not a moment too soon?

ppeatfruit · 20/10/2017 15:33

She made him work and cook sometimes. Made him grow up. He's paying her back now Scruff gin is making money. I'm off to meet dh now, see ya!

Gruach · 20/10/2017 16:56

Isn't it Rex who's 30? Toby is a few years younger. (But your point still stands!)

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 20/10/2017 17:14

Pip was unreasonable to Toby by blaming him for her own decision not to 'fess up the cows, I think. I know he encouraged her, but she behaved as though she'd had no part in the decision at all, as far as her anger at him was concerned.

Pip is a tit.

birdsdestiny · 20/10/2017 17:17

I don't like pip but I don't remember her doing anything particularly wrong in that relationship. I suppose at the beginning you could argue she moved in with him mainly to irritate Jill and the rest of the family but other than that she didn't treat him badly? Also I know this has nothing to do with anything but what has happened to Richard?

Fink · 20/10/2017 18:38

Oh yes, Richard. I hope he returns soon. I'd forgotten all about him. I wouldn't mind Kathy returning to a speaking role either, although she wasn't my favourite character.

TeenTimesTwo · 20/10/2017 19:14

Go on lilian - go for it.

campion · 20/10/2017 19:15

Please don't

TeenTimesTwo · 20/10/2017 19:18

campion Lilian will be far happier with Matt than Justin.

AuldHeathen · 20/10/2017 19:24

Poor Lil. Having to choose between one wealthy crook and another wealthy crook.

birdsdestiny · 20/10/2017 20:55

It's possible she thinks she will be happier but as Matt is abusive it's unlikely.

Ceto · 20/10/2017 23:10

How could Lillian ever logically trust Matt again? Suppose he walks off again with everything she owns and leaves her stranded in Ecuador?

JessieMcJessie · 20/10/2017 23:25

There is no doubt whatsoever that Lily was using "urban" in the hip hop fashion sense. I could immediately picture how Noluthando dresses when she said it. Racist? Unthinkingly, perhaps. I imagine it would have gone over most listeners' heads though. What I find most amusing is that the scriptwriter of " an everyday story of country folk" has sparked such a heated debate about the meaning of the word "urban"!

JessieMcJessie · 20/10/2017 23:28

the idea of Lil moving to Ecuador is just stupid. We've been here before with Costa Rica, (except then there was no other man on the scene and Mary had to leave the country whereas now he just chooses to. ) Big yawn.

campion · 21/10/2017 01:08

I confess I wasn't following the details. Ecuador sounds far enough if it gets the pair of them off the scene. They're both caricatures and past their sell by.
Even Justin deserves better.

Is Matt following the transgender trend now, JessieMc? Wink

AuntyElle · 21/10/2017 09:01

Loved the continuity lady:
"Blimey, Matt or Justin... whadda choice."

C8H10N4O2 · 21/10/2017 12:42

Ah Matt, back to his manipulative self without even trying to hide it.

Am I alone in dreading the predictable dragging out of the online campaign against the stables and the business disaaaaaster?

AuntyElle · 21/10/2017 12:49

No, C8 it's utterly dreary. And unrealistic - she was on a forum slagging off under her real name? They could have at least called her Bobbie98 or similar. Confused

Abra1d · 21/10/2017 12:50

I just thought urban meant too edgy for the country. The racist undertone passed me by though it was obviously not meant as a compliment!

Cromwell1536 · 21/10/2017 15:57

Lill with Matt or Justin - meh, who cares? They're both dull radio characters anyway. Lill would be happier with Matt, though, Justin sounds like he wants to enter his carpet slipper years post-wedding, and that will bore her rigid. One thing I did enjoy about Matt's little intervention was his dig at Jenny. Although Brian has stayed on the porch since Siobhan, hasn't he?
