In full acknowledgement of PseudoBadger's great achievement in providing the previous 79 threads over the past 4 years (and credit to R4 for this thread's title)...

Discuss TA (The Archers). New posters encouraged - it's not (too) cliquey here and plenty of regulars are happy to answer questions. Archers

One rule: no spoilers (ie no mentioning future plot teasers from Radio Times listings etc) - there's a separate thread for that.

So, is Phoebe pregnant? will Anisha dob in (dobbin - geddit?) Alistair?

PS I don't presume to take on PB's role permanently - hopefully the job of starting new threads will rotate among regulars until she returns

Auld as there is a new thread but your question wasn't anything to do with TA I'll answer here.

I worked for an electronics firm doing CAD software for designing silicon chips that went into TVs and CDs and then later software that went into those chips. Our site closed. Most of my ex colleagues now seem to do software for touch screen technology for phones and tablets. I now nurture my children through their education.

So we can add 22 more posts of totally irrelevant chitchat? Though after l press post it’ll be 21. I think! lnteresting answers to my nosy question. Thanks. Curiosity sated, for the meantime anyway.

TeenTimesTwo · 02/10/2017 19:01

Irrelevant chit chat, I can do that.

Apart from TA, what do other people like listening to on R4?

I start the day with Today, and then catch random bits on and off. I like the science, some bits of Woman's Hour (interesting bit on adoption support the other day), Just a Minute and most of the things in that time slot, Front Row. Years ago I liked 'Does he take Sugar?' and 'In Touch'.

I switch off 'Count Arthur Strong' and recently some dire PG Wodehouse type parody thing. 'Home Front' isn't doing a lot for me either but maybe because I dip in and out.

All l’ve heard today on R4 is PM, the 6.30 item, and TA. Listening to Front Row now. My enthusiasm for R4 varies. I like Women’s Hour and, often, the 15 minute serial, though rarely hear all of it. I often hear Weekend WH on Saturdays and find that a good enough catch up.

For a few weeks now l’ve liked the 6.30 item with Victoria Corin Mitchell. She’s done some good programmes. Women Talking about Cars. I don’t like her husband much though l understand that’s an opinion l don’t share it’s my housemates. He has an irritating laugh and a nasal twang. Poor man!

AuldHeathen · 02/10/2017 19:36

That should be with my housemates.

Has anyone watched The Farming Year, couldn't be further from Ambridge. The children actually get stuck in. Ben would definately be birthing lambs by now.

While I appreciate that TA has to hook in new listeners, how could Ian, for one fat minute have entertained the idea of Kate as a surrogate? On the other hand there's been a great build-up of her egotism at the birthday party, and her unthinking behaviour toward Nolly - still me, me, me. I look forward to the fireworks when she's let down.

And as for a 40 year-old looking for financial subs from her dad, while trumpeting the success of her healing centre?

On a lighter note, I thought the cider story might tie in nicely with the possible demise of Hilda Ogden, a dead cat being, at least apocryphally, the vital ingredient for scrumpy.:o

How did Alistair not know that cats can work round bells when hunting - it's common knowledge.

Too much outrage. I'll get me coat. Or a life Smile

Maybe Al should give Hilda a 'calmer', put her on an inflammation free diet and or get her spayed.

I have posted on the new thread already btw Grin
