Remember, please do not post anything you read on this thread on The Archers discussion thread. That is wrong, bad, naughty!

Gruach Did you read my post about Susan on the 'proper' thread? I love the actress who plays Susan , she managed to make her visit to Jenny about down sizing just a LITTLE patronising Grin it was brilliant!

Gruach · 08/08/2018 15:04

I did - and it was!

ppeatfruit · 08/08/2018 20:33

Grin It's a fine line between making predictions and actually knowing what's going to happen. Do we ever really know? The LA precis are very vague and sometimes, possibly, deliberately misleading!

But I don't give a fig about spoilers.

witchmountain · 08/08/2018 21:13

Thanks Gruach.

IalwayswantedtobeBeth · 09/08/2018 17:34

I have to agree with those of you who enjoy the "Susan" character. It is beautifully drawn and played. She and Neil are so well matched. She makes me think of a younger version of Alan Bennet's mother; never quite relaxed about her place in life but always trying to present an "I am better than you think" view to society while never feeling completely comfortable.

Thanks, Gump!

Mention of Russ, I see. Also, the first mention of Oliver for months. Hmm.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/08/2018 20:20

Thanks Gump.

I'm also wondering about Oliver D0do.

ppeatfruit · 10/08/2018 09:10

Oh Lord another family in worse trouble. But I suppose that the bubble had to burst, Lizzie's menage has been fairly trouble free so far. (before the twins became 18) Grin.

witchmountain · 10/08/2018 20:20

Could Oliver be some kind of character witness? Although he’s not an obvious choice having not been around much.

witchmountain · 10/08/2018 20:21

I assume we don’t have to endure the actual hen party, we just get to hear about whatever went on the next day?

ppeatfruit · 11/08/2018 13:00

Oh I hope so witch. But at least the women's voices will be easier to differentiate!

I liked J'lene's boring, over done ideas being quashed by Jazzer who's really playing up to his role as 'bridesman' . He's getting a little more responsible; did anyone notice him criticising the policemen for being "off their heeads on booze" when they arrested Freddie for dealing.

Gruach · 11/08/2018 13:38

Yes! I loved the role-reversal game the SW played with the mother of the bride and the bridesman - funny and surprising.

I wonder if they do have plans for Jazzer to gradually evolve as he becomes middle aged. Guess it’s too much to hope he’ll meet someone nice at the wedding ...

ppeatfruit · 11/08/2018 13:53

Me too! He needs a pleasant, broad minded divorcee` with a house and a sense of humour!

Gruach · 12/08/2018 10:25

Can I borrow the thingummy? 🔮

Given the present conversation on the main thread about failure to mention characters who would be involved in particular stories (and sudden suspect mention of the previously invisible) - I’m predicting that Geraldine (LL manager) is going to resign over the drugs scandal.

Piles pressure on Elizabeth and leaves the door open for Lily to step into the breach.

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 10:46

thingummy ?? Shock

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 10:48

I must admit that I don't remember hearing mention of Geraldine at all. Though if she's straitlaced like Anthea she'll be off in a huff.

I only remembered Anthea after looking at the link about Lewis. Of course TA is famous for non speakers like Prue! I wondered if the actor is ill. He didn't look young in the pix. No idea how long ago they were taken.

Gruach · 12/08/2018 10:57

Well, that’s the thing ppeat - after being constantly invisible we’ve heard Elizabeth/Lily mention her twice recently. Once being on leave, then returning from leave. So I’m suspicious.

witch I meant the crystal ball. Apologies if you couldn’t see it.

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 11:01

Oh I could Grin

I just thought we had to refer to The Ball with more respect Wink

Gruach · 12/08/2018 11:01

Not when it’s in my hands!

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 11:03

Geraldine was the one who effectively got Roy’s job when that working relationship became untenable, right? So if Geraldine was to go, and Lexi has escaped...

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 11:04

Were to go, rather.

witchmountain · 12/08/2018 11:05

I forget now whether Roy was left hating Elizabeth or if there was some reconciliation.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 11:17

witch If I remember correctly their relationship was left on a neutral footing.

ppeatfruit · 12/08/2018 11:22

I'm going to be a little on the crudey side here but I had to snigger when Ian was saying good bye to Lexi. When she said she didn't know he was coming. I thought that if he could bring himself to actually 'come' (you know do the deed Wink ). they might not have had so many problems Wink
