And so it continues. We still have one long-term prediction from the start of the last thread that has not yet come to pass - the burning down of Lower Loxley.

But there is still time...

I hope that prompts Helen to make a complaint. If he's not cooperating it would be five years, which is a long, long time.

Gruach · 23/12/2016 23:04

So ... I have just seen a TA article about Kaz. Not gonna link. This may be the moment when I give up.

(The actor looks perfectly nice. Just strange that Kaz seems to have something in common with Amy's mother. Shame. Fucking shame on the BBC.)

PuppetInParadize · 24/12/2016 00:08

So a melodramatic lack of imagination, Gruach?

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/12/2016 02:55

Ah yes, Gruach. I thought the same when I saw her name in a cast list a while back.

Wonder if anything will be mentioned when Kaz visits Ambridge.

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/12/2016 08:30

I'd agree, Gruach, if they'd made it obvious that Kaz was black or mixed race, but they haven't, in my view. The actor is black, but the character isn't, necessarily. The accent is non-specific. I'll link to the article, because I liked it. Here

Gruach · 24/12/2016 09:00

I take your point Gasp0 - but it almost makes it worse! We've all commented on how underclass-via-RADA Kaz sounds; were there no other parts they could have offered this actor?

It's Christmas Eve so I can't swear - but I await news of Dot's prison history pdq. Then we'll know ...

Vango · 24/12/2016 14:01

Roy's redemption if I've read that last paragraph correctly 😁.

I think she's always sounded like a smart woman in a difficult situation, probably similar to Helen's. I don't remember hearing why she was in prison but I've never felt that the character was 'underclass'. If she moves to Ambridge I think she'd make great friends very quickly with Fallon and Kirsty.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/12/2016 14:36

Yes, a Roy and Kaz partnering was predicted by Mystic Bore ages ago Vango Xmas Grin
(to be fair, I also predicted a Jazzer and Kaz partnering as an alternative - and would still really like Roy to get back with Hayley)

Hadn't thought about her rescuing Roy from Tracey's clutches, but makes sense.

PuppetInParadize · 24/12/2016 22:33

Oh I see what Gruach was referring to now. I was thinking it was a ref to Amy's mother's criminal past - details of which i don't recall. It was on Extra I believe which I had no access to. I must have read it on MN.

I heard a black actor in an interview complaining about the 'colouring' of parts. Said something like 'Why do we have to be black actors? Can't we just be actors?' I do see where he was coming from. If any medium could be colour blind' then radio is the one.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/12/2016 18:33

To be fair, the Jess actor is mixed- race and is "just an actor" though.

OP posts:
LillianGish · 29/12/2016 22:50

If any medium could be colour blind' then radio is the one. I agree. The actor who plays Jazzer is blind - great that he is not restricted to playing blind characters. Hardly anyone looks in real life how I imagine their character to look. The joy of TA used to be that the characters looked however you imagined them to look. Personally I think we see far too many photos these days.

2017 updated on TA website:
1 Jan. Johnny is keen to party, and Lilian cannot be cheered.

2 Jan. Helen wants today to be perfect, and Rex has news for Toby.
3 Jan. Tom wants to make changes, and Roy notices something is up.
4 Jan. Susan asserts herself, and Kenton is taken for a ride.
5 Jan. Brian sets out his vision, and Alan has cause for concern.
6 Jan. Kirsty is reminded of the past, and Helen wishes things could be different.

8 Jan. Tom needs to offload his concerns, and Roy has some explaining to do.
9 Jan. Toby is quick to react, and Pip and Rex catch up.
10 Jan. Justin's diary needs attention, and Pat raises a glass.
11 Jan. David tries to make amends, and Brian looks to cheer up Adam.
12 Jan. Helen picks her moment, and Freddie wants to keep a low profile.
13 Jan. Rob has a visitor, and Lilian is ready to party.

15 Jan. It gets awkward at Willow Farm, and Jennifer's memory is jogged.
16 Jan. Kirsty has unwanted company and Freddie is full of regret.
17 Jan. Toby searches for a helping hand, and Ian won't be fooled.
18 Jan. Elizabeth shares some memories, and Tom makes a vow.
19 Jan. Johnny needs a wingman, and Ian worries if he's done the right thing.

Any hope that JD's memory is jogged by Stefan reappearing in some form or other? No cast so it's not clear if Lily is going to make an appearance.

Gumpendorf · 01/01/2017 13:46

Mustardland has paraphrased the DM Weekend mag summary for the coming week. New nuggets are:

Rob is looking to bag a piece of Bridge Farm as part of the divorce settlement. Rob also has a run in with Adam and ends up in the village shop after hours, where nervous customers are cornered.

Toby's father stops his allowance.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/01/2017 14:54

Ooh! Knew Knob's ever so 'umble act wouldn't last long. Thanks Gumpendorf

And Happy New Year!

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/01/2017 17:06

Thanks, Gumpendorf! Is it too much to hope that he will have a shotgun with him in the shop?

Gruach · 01/01/2017 17:12

Thanks Gumpendorf and Happy New Year everyone.

It does read as if Rob might be doing something significant in the shop ...

Gruach · 04/01/2017 19:24

Please let the continuity announcer's comment about a "final" something or other (confrontation? breakdown?) for Rob presage something cataclysmic - with no one else hurt.

So after tonight I'm guessing at some stage Toby's quick reaction will avert a Frilly automobile disaster - which they keep quiet from their Ma, leading to later questioning.

All looks good apart from the boring Brookfield business.

Vango · 04/01/2017 20:51

Why does it read to me as though something bad is in store for Kirsty, possibly related to the new drivers?

Megatherium · 04/01/2017 21:10

I think the CA said something today about Rob alienating people who have some sympathy for him, didn't he? As Alan has cause for concern tomorrow, it's presumably him. I do hope he's going to let Helen know that Rob's supposed conversion following discussions with him is completely fictional.

Gruach · 04/01/2017 22:42

And yet ... Perhaps Helen picks her moment (when everyone else is out?) to call Rob. And the next day Rob's visitor is Henry.

I imagine Pat will be raising a glass to her prospective grandchild.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 05/01/2017 01:43

And yet ... Perhaps Helen picks her moment (when everyone else is out?) to call Rob. And the next day Rob's visitor is Henry

Oh please no. They would lose listeners in droves if they went down route.

Radio Times
8 to 13 January
Writer: Mary Cutler

Oh Tom, you promise Kirsty that you won’t breathe a word about her pregnancy, then you’re revealing all to Helen.

Helen, of course, wants to talk to Kirsty about what’s happening - not that she has much time to consider her brother’s future: there’s also Jack’s first appointment at the contact centre to prepare for.

We also have Roy facing the difficult task of explaining to Tracy that he may have given her the wrong impression on New Year’s Eve, while Lillian can’t hide her astonishment at seeing Miranda by Justin’s side.

---------

There is also an interview with Sara Coward (Caroline) and her SM:)E campaign. She would like Caroline to survive her and suggests Belinda Carroll, who is Michael Cochrane’s (Oliver) wife in RL. She says she doesn’t know anything about the SW plans tho.
