New thread in time for Friday's episode...

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2015 11:49

I know all that R4 (been listening since the mid-80s Grin ) - it still seemed a bit of a stretch though, to blame Charlie personally for a completely separate issue ie the theft of Ed's cows

I suppose the SW just wanted to show us anti-Charlie feeling and the Grundys were as good a vehicle as any to do it. Just felt clunky and odd to me

R4 · 27/10/2015 11:57

Yowch. Things are getting bad if BOOP thinks they are "clunky and odd".Grin

But like I said last night, Charlie was in the wrong place at the wrong time; it was the equivalent of 'kicking the cat'.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2015 12:06

Yeah I guess. I actually feel sorry for Charlie though. He seems very lonely.

My aversion to seeing pictures of the characters now extends, I realise, to the animals. Scruff SO didn't look like that to me Angry

enochroot · 27/10/2015 12:23

I think Charlie is going to 'save' Ed in some way and so Joe and Eddie might have to eat their words.

SquirrelledAway · 27/10/2015 14:51

BOOP have you looked at the actor photo for Charlie? He definitely looks like he could do with some comforting Grin

I always pictured Scruff as a Jack Russell.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2015 15:21

Nooooo! Don't tempt me Squirrelled!

Joskar · 27/10/2015 15:48

BOOP- I read your comment in the voice of the policeman in 'Allo, 'Allo. I too am pizzled by the Charlie hating. It made me uncomfortable and irritated to hear the Grundys like that. They've got better manners I'm sure.

Oh enoch I really hope you're right. Poor Ed.

BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2015 16:14

Joskar Grin

Damn you Squirrelled you made me look

I see he was in Wold Hall

BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2015 16:55

Oh blimey! Maybe Joe's dire warnings about [[http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/anthrax-first-case-of-disease-since-2006-found-in-wiltshire-cow-a6710391.html anthrax] aren't too wild after all! Shock

BitOutOfPractice · 27/10/2015 16:55

Dammit! link fail

enochroot · 27/10/2015 17:05

I sense that hands-on management during a crisis coupled with the kindness of neighbours in sending over silage is bringing about a change in Charlie's character. There was a grain of truth in what Joe and Eddie said, however spiteful, and I think it cut him deeply.

I'll stick my neck out and suggest that C is going to part from BL and go into the cattle business thus giving Ed an opportunity to care for cattle with someone who really does understand business practice.

CuttedUpPear · 27/10/2015 17:55

I am out of listening range, on a boat and relying on you lot and this thread for my entertainment and information.

Oh and I am slightly pizzled Grin

EBearhug · 27/10/2015 18:01

I like that idea enochroot - good for both Charlie and Ed. (Not necessarily for Ian, though.)

FinestGrundyTurkey · 27/10/2015 19:01

I posted a Wiltshire anthrax link earlier, BOOP

Nobody noticed mine either Wink

Gruach · 27/10/2015 19:10

I did! It was spookily interesting - but I was too busy to post.

BYOSnowman · 27/10/2015 19:11

oh how predictable - the bbc merchandising machine in full swing - who will buy a calendar?

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 27/10/2015 19:12

Glad someone told Kirsty finally.

And I enjoyed Joe's nonsense.

BYOSnowman · 27/10/2015 19:13

fgs - are we going to have nigel coming back as a ghost because they've realised they fucked up by kicking him off the roof

Gruach · 27/10/2015 19:15
Shock

Shock[

shock]

Toomuchtea · 27/10/2015 19:22

Enoch, I love your idea of Charlie and Ed working together.

Predictable episode in some ways though: I knew that Joe was going to ask for appreciation to be shown in the usual way the moment Lizzie asked Jill to go along.

CuttedUpPear · 27/10/2015 20:46

But what happened?

selsigfach · 27/10/2015 21:07

Why are the Grundy brothers so favoured by Oliver and Christine? Have been listening for maybe 8 years and have no idea!

R4 · 27/10/2015 21:10

Lynda is casting around for cast for CG. Spoke to Susan (affronted by being offered an older role), Lizzie (offered the part of the widow) and Kirsty (broke the news that H is preggers, K didn't know).
Went to LL where Jill is being tedious about how difficult it is to live in a stately home my heart bleeds for her. Joe is doing a scary Hallowe'en ghost walk at LL and has been told to tone it down for the LO - Jill went to spy on him. Hence she knows that he is encouraging punters, who have already paid for a ticket, to pay tips. Naughty Joe.

R4 · 27/10/2015 21:12

Caroline, for reasons that I have never totally understood, is godmother to Willyum. Oliver has a soft spot for Ed, I think they bond over cattle.
