Abraid2 · 23/10/2015 19:17

My FIL was a farmer and used to sometimes engage in activities that weren't muck-spreading and castrating bullocks with his teeth. Wink

BoreofWabylon wins the SL prediction competition.

SimoneDeBeaver · 23/10/2015 19:17

What I can't stand is that it's all bound to come to a huge, week-long pay-off, a la Emmerdale/Eastenders, round about Christmas, and that's just plain Wrong.

DadDadDad · 23/10/2015 19:18

Missed the episode - what's happened to Scruff?

goldface · 23/10/2015 19:19

Poor Scruff X

Gruach · 23/10/2015 19:19

Well. That will shut Lynda up. She caused the mega-farm plague.

Thanks for the lovely new thread Pseudo.

tootsietoo · 23/10/2015 19:19

Missed the episode - what's happened to Scruff?

Charlie was talking to Adam in the comfort of Adam's house (Ian being away conveniently, and Adam already having offered Charlie a night out at Fallon & Harrison's housewarming followed by staying over to get a decent night's sleep, and come home early when Adam wasn't there, only to see Charlie there on the Green.) Charlie said they'd got some results, on the botulinum clostridium, and at the bottom of a batch of feed, they found something terrible, which was the pelvis and back leg of a dog.

So we don't know for 100% certainty that it's Scruff. But it's Scruff.

TeenAndTween · 23/10/2015 19:27

How does a dog (alive or dead) get into a silage clamp?

When did Scruff go missing, was it during the flood? I can't remember.

Shallishanti · 23/10/2015 19:33

yes, it was during the flood
sorry goldface I can't remember what Helen did badly!

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/10/2015 19:33

Scruff went missing on the night of the flood.

It was Knob, of course, who planted the corpse but will he get away with it?

enochroot · 23/10/2015 19:42

OK. Back to the night of The Flood......

Rob goes AWOL for a few hours in a bit of a rage/panic. He rows off alone in a passing boat as soon as it's obvious that the river is rising very fast.

Some time later he is rowing about directionless in the same boat when he hears cries coming from The Stables and is more or less forced to rescue Christine et al. He's hailed as a hero but no one asks where the hell he's been all those hours. Meanwhile Scruff goes missing.

I think he rowed back to Berrow to either block or unblock the culvert. I think we decided long ago that he's blocked it in the afternoon so he could go to the pub and not have to stay on duty. He was seen by Stefan on one of those occasions, Stefan strolling about on the only bit of high ground around.

Some time that evening Rob encounters Scruff who has also made his way to dry ground. Scruff is an intelligent dog who takes against Rob and starts to bark. Rob swiftly does the dog in with an oar and hides the body in a silage silo.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/10/2015 19:43

Excellent theory enoch

R4 · 23/10/2015 19:48

Not getting it.Confused
The flood / Scruff going missing was in February. We are assuming that Rob planted the body as an act of sabotage. He must have known that he had a limited time period before the botulism started. How come he wasn't looking for another job in the mean time? He can' t have been relying on the dowry because that was a surprise and didn't appear til August.
What's going on in his brain?

And where is the front half of Scruff?Sad

R4 · 23/10/2015 19:50

x-post enoch So it wasn't planned. But he must have thought to either get rid of the body or to find another job?

StubbleTurnips · 23/10/2015 19:54

Checking in!

R4 · 23/10/2015 20:06

Phew, after much scrolling back I have found the origin of 'badly done' (three weeks ago tonight).
Helen gave Fallon permission to do Ye Recycled Tea Shoppe and Rob was not pleased. It was when we thought the DV might start and she distracted him with pregnancy news.

enochroot · 23/10/2015 20:20

No I don't think it was sabotage. He was pretty alarmed that night when he saw the flood water rising so fast.
He must have rowed hard to get there and I suppose being in a small boat in a raging torrent was no picnic. He's perhaps stuffing or unstuffing the culvert when he sees Stefan come out just as Scruff is about to raise the alarm. He probably throttles poor Scruff - any dog worth his salt could avoid a swinging oar - but doesn't leave the body of a well-known dog to be discovered so slings it in the silo, or amongst the stuff waiting to be loaded in the silo.

enochroot · 23/10/2015 20:22

I doubt if he thought of botulism at the time. He's not very good at farming and all that.

BYOSnowman · 23/10/2015 20:22

I can't imagine rob did it. But is it another sign of his negligence and crapiness
