New thread in time for Friday's episode...

OP posts:
SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 02/11/2015 19:23

And he undermines her in front of other people all the fucking time! I'm getting annoyed with Helen now - I know there was the argument a few pages ago about her responsibility in all this, but I'm not saying women are to blame for EA: I'm saying Helen, specifically, is a twat.

Rob was a misogynistic git when she first met him, not to mention married. She's had no difficulty acting like an entitled brat all her life and telling people who genuinely do have her best interests at heart to bugger off, she'll do things her way. So why the personality transplant now?

'You're not strong, Helen' - oh, just, vomit!

Gruach · 02/11/2015 19:23

How ironic that other people (Adam) envied the smooth transfer of power at Bridge Farm. The one thing that would have protected Helen would have been her parents still being "in charge" of the business.

God help Pat and Tony if they haven't ring-fenced their share of and income from the farm. He'll have it all.

BYOSnowman · 02/11/2015 19:27

But that's why he has to die. I don't think I can bear to listen if we end up with the nasty divorce and demand for a share of the farm etc etc. It's just too much.

I'm fed up of it now. I'll probably just read the lowfield summaries and this thread until he's gone

Gruach · 02/11/2015 19:31

I don't watch horror films. I had to force myself not to run away from the radio just now.

Seriously - it has to stop.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/11/2015 19:32

He'll have to be killed somehow, won't he? Otherwise when they do divorce he'll get half of everything.

And yes, yes, SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace , Hellin is indeed a twat and a nasty entitled one to boot. She went after Knob relentlessly - remember when Kirsty pointed out that he was married and H said that meant nothing at all, he was The One.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/11/2015 19:34

Snap BYOS !

BYOSnowman · 02/11/2015 19:39

The problem is we've lost some longstanding characters now through a plot driven sl (all the archers at bridge farm for a start - from both the jolting and the knob sl)

I can't see this changing. The more I think about it the more ee it is going.

Best case scenario in my mind is that knob dies in a tragic accident (inadvertently saving Henry) which leads to Helen having to be the mourning widow for a hero that she is delighted to be rid of

enochroot · 02/11/2015 19:39

Our brand. Our business.

Has Pat's brain dropped out and rolled down a drain?

northender · 02/11/2015 19:41

I shouted at the radio tonight much to dh's amusement. Not sure how much more I can listen to either.

BYOSnowman · 02/11/2015 19:43

Jilting not jolting!

If pat takes a role in calendar girls I will be convinced the bull took her brain before he gored tony

KingscoteStaff · 02/11/2015 20:01

What's happening now, do you think? Is he back from the Bull?

It's only pretend, it's only pretend...

IloveJudgeJudy · 02/11/2015 20:07

That was both chilling and annoying to listen to. I'm also annoyef about Deeavid and Roof not shopping online, or even Pip not suggesting it. Grr.

I hope the Calendar Girls storyline picks up now. I liked Susan talking about Clarrie and Elizabeth being in the play.

I can't foresee what the end of the Hellrob story's going to be.

Gruach · 02/11/2015 20:08

He'll bypass the Bull and drive into Borchester ... Wasn't there a lap dancing club he wanted to drag Kenton's stag do into?

Angry

I honestly cannot remember when a story in any medium has stirred up such dread and outrage in me.

GypsyFl0ss · 02/11/2015 20:21

God that was hard to listen to. I agree , Rob needs to die.

choccyp1g · 02/11/2015 20:23

"The Ambridge Tea Room" !!! Is that the best they can come up with?
I thought Rob had a point (shoot me) until his even lamer suggestion.
Desperately trying to think of something better......
Farm Foods? No that sounds like plated mush for oldsters.....
Cakes and makes?
Turnovers and makeovers?
Turn the tables?

BYOSnowman · 02/11/2015 20:26

Was the plan for it to be an organic shop?

If so, does the cafe have to be organic?

I would have thought it damaging to the bridge farm organic brand of the cafe and shop sell non organic

I'm guessing soc spends a lot of time at daylesford when he is visiting his showbiz pals in the Cotswolds

choccyp1g · 02/11/2015 20:27

Ha!! "Fallon's Farm Foods" That would really upset him.

fredabear · 02/11/2015 20:29

haven't listened tonight or yesterday, there's a treat in store for me tomorrow... however on the subject of good use of music did anyone notice 'no surprises' playing whilst Usha and Ruth were having lunch the other day?

SevenOhTwo · 02/11/2015 20:46

Oh I'm glad you said it first choccy! I hated to think it but Ambridge Tea Room does sound a bit awful. I like Bridge Farm Cafe more, although it is terribly uninventive.

Although, of course, Helen was right to stand up for ATR as that was the agreement with Fallon - her business alongside their business, not her running the cafe for Bridge Farm.

They should really have been much clearer at the outset about what was expected of each party, who would decide upon what, what if any vetoes Helen and Tom would have over Fallon's ideas etc. It is a minefield doing business with friends at the best of times; doesn't help for everything to be so vague and made up as they go along.

If I were Helen, I would burst into tears as Rob stormed off to the pub, and then when I'd pulled myself together I would be INCENSED. Surely she can't take him seriously when he suggests that musing for two minutes over the wording of a cafe name is serious stress that will RUIN her health?!?!? I know we've all said how confused etc. she is, but I think there are also some points when the other person is SO ridiculous that you think 'wait a minute…' and start to stand up for your own side of the story a bit more.

She just so needs someone to confide in who will confirm that she is in the right and he's a giant twatface.

SevenOhTwo · 02/11/2015 20:47

BYOS - we might be able to answer your questions more fully if poor old Helen hadn't been curtailed when 'rambling' about local vs organic and what was more important…

BYOSnowman · 02/11/2015 20:50

ambridge tea rooms is about crap - the bridge farm cafe is better from a branding perspective

But the name is rubbish and makes me think of the polystyrene cup CD-R in the apprentice

'Bridge Farm Organics' would be better

With 'Tea with Emma' (sorry fallon but your name isn't twee enough)

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 02/11/2015 21:00

She went after Knob relentlessly - i think this is a factor in what she is putting up with now otherwise she will have to admit she was wrong wrong wrong.

But yes I am sure on reflection she'll think hang on a minute, you undermine me all the time.
And going to the pub in a strop is hardly good for the stress levels of the mother of your baby. Is it?

But that is typical of EA get in first. Criticise in others precisely your own failings. And a complete lack of understanding of hypocrisy.

He is trying to back Hellin into a corner so she will ally with him agaibst Fallon.

I hope he overplays his hand soon and Hellon really does start to wake up to what he is doing and think hang on a minute he is wrong!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/11/2015 21:15

Did he call Fallon and Emma two village girls? Fallon is 30, Emma is 31. The Pat of old would have pointed this out. Sad

BYOSnowman · 02/11/2015 21:19

The actress who plays pat must be livid with what they are doing to her character

EBearhug · 02/11/2015 21:54

Emma is not a twee name!
