Sorry but I couldn't resist an opportunity for puns galore Grin

With regards to talking to other people about Nasty People you know, I think in general people are very careful with what they say in case the other person really likes the nasty person. Although you would perhaps have a conversation if you'd both witnessed an incident. And people are more honest about their real feeling to someone very close, like a spouse.

BertrandRussell · 30/09/2015 08:12

Why didn't Tony say something to Johnny about the sledging?

Gruach · 30/09/2015 08:12

Yesterday I had the impression that Helen repeated what Rob said because, although conflicted, she is still in thrall to him. Today I'm thinking that, regardless of whether she believed his argument or not, she was determined to present it to Tom so that he could give a "good" report of her to Rob.

Either way - Kirsty will be excellent at the clinic handholding. And standing up to Rob when he bursts in moments too late. (Though I hope they'll go with a more realistic scenario. And I hope Helen can keep everything from her family and avoid the awful pressure that Elizabeth had to endure all those years ago.)

Minimammoth · 30/09/2015 08:15

Why have we not heard about the mega dairy job? Where is Charlie? So many questions. I am dusting off my welcome back Scruff banner.

BYOSnowman · 30/09/2015 08:17

I'm sorry but I think the return of Kirsty is a big mistake.

She was incredibly angry with helen and they can't just slot back into bff dom.

BYOSnowman · 30/09/2015 08:20

I don't think she will have an abortion.

Also, it is a controversial topic so the de need to tread very carefully and a lot of the existing sw don't seem capable.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 30/09/2015 08:53

I don't think she'll have an abortion... I think that would seem to her like admitting you'd made a mistake, which Hellon doesn't do. I'm absolutely sure she is pregnant, but not sure why she's adamant otherwise - given how ickily ready to share how awesome Knob is in bed, I think she'd have said 'Mum, trust me, I know I can't be pregnant' if she was on the pill or other contraception, or had had a period since the night of the rape.

She was exactly parroting Rob re. the 'mixing friendship with business' - though I'm not sure she knew it. And ironic how pissy she was about Tom making a unilateral decision when she lets Knob do it all the time!

They have been so spot on with this SL - her parroting him, her believing their relationship is a special fairy-tale-come-true which exists outside the rules other people have to abide by, her initial joy at 'belonging to someone', his alienation of everyone she's close to (yeah, I've been the Kirsty here....) - that when, as I confidently expect they will, they have a big episode where Everyone Realises and Rob swiftly repairs to Birmingham or wherever defunct characters go, it will be a real let-down.

InimitableJeeves · 30/09/2015 08:53

Surely Adam must have a conversation with someone about Rob' behaviour at the cricket match? What is irritating me about this storyline is that there are so many people with bits of the jigsaw and none of them are talking to each other about it. Rob's behaviour towards Adam was so rude and arrogant, surely he'd mention it to Ian and Charlie.

BYOSnowman · 30/09/2015 08:54

It's almost like the characters don't 'talk' off air!

Wordsaremything · 30/09/2015 09:12

I vote Helen pregnant too. With twins- hence the early onset of the hyperemesis g.

Toomuchtea · 30/09/2015 09:20

I do think H might still be trying to deny she is pregnant, because the thought of bringing a baby into the huge and horrible nightmare that is her relationship with Rob is just one thing too much. Did do this myself when split up with DH1. The rest of life was such complete and utter shit I literally could not add one more thing. Never did take a test, but after two missed periods, had the period from hell. Or mc. I never did know and was glad I didn't because of the enormous and freeing relief I felt.

Wordsaremything · 30/09/2015 10:01

Agree with that too, Tea.

R4 · 30/09/2015 10:44

Adam was stand-in captain. You think he'd have a word with captain Alistair about ethos, youth development and, even, team selection. But that conversation may not happen til next season.
Or even happen at all, if star batsman Rob somehow gets himself voted into captaincy.Shock

InimitableJeeves · 30/09/2015 10:57

Why are we assuming it's hyperemesis? A few episodes of nausea when the rest of the time she seems able to function fairly normally are not the same as hyperemesis.

enochroot · 30/09/2015 10:57

She's not going to leap straight back into a confiding relationship with Kirsty even if Rob doesn't prevent them meeting up.

I'm still not convinced she's pg. Her sudden bouts of sickness seem to coincide with moments when she foresees Rob's anger so I think it's an anxiety reflex and, given her history, if she's anxious then the eating disorder is likely to kick in.

Agree that Adam must have vented to Ian about Rob's behaviour at cricket and that Tony must at the very least be mulling it over. The absence of Charlie at this crucial time is also odd - but maybe he's being re-cast because of the sounds-like-Tom thing!

R4 · 30/09/2015 11:00

Perhaps SOC has brought in a rule that we can't have Tom and Charlie in the same scene.Grin

BertrandRussell · 30/09/2015 11:05

As I said. Tony would have heard Johnny and it inconceivable that he wouldn't have said something, qua umpire and qua grandfather..........

PseudoBadger · 30/09/2015 11:29

I'm not sure she's pregnant as her nausea does coincide with Rob issues.

OP posts:
BYOSnowman · 30/09/2015 11:30

She appears to be vomiting before meals (eg that time with rob they were just about to order)

I didn't throw up when pregnant (just felt permanently nauseous!) so am unsure if that is realistic?" If it is pregnancy?

enochroot · 30/09/2015 11:35

Was captain Alastair at the cricket match? Was his father, Jim, there? Shula?

I've said it before, I know, but the failure of characters to TALK about Rob's behaviour in the past months is inconceivable.

enochroot · 30/09/2015 11:38

I forget what Hel/rob were talking about when that food order arrived but it was something potentially contentious.

squeaver · 30/09/2015 11:47

Yes! Of course people would be talking. Conversations we need to hear:

Adam mouthing off to Ian or - better - Charlie about the cricket.

Tony and Pat about the cricket and also Helen's condition.

Tony and Jonny about the way Jonny was being an arse at the cricket - no way would Tony approve of that behaviour.

Charlie and Brian + JDarl about Rob's departure/the culvert/Stefan etc

I really, really hope that Pat doesn't say something to Rob about the pregnancy. She has been acting strange but that would be a step too far.

God, he's going to HATE the idea of Fallon's cafe. A woman?! With her own business!? Who has her own opinions!? To say nothing of her connection to PC Plot, who is, of course, also on The List.

squeaver · 30/09/2015 11:47

enoch - it was Rob getting parental responsibility for Henry.

Gruach · 30/09/2015 12:03

I agree about the connection to Plod squeaver but I'd have said Rob's main objection to Fallon is that she's Helen's friend. What he wants most is to completely isolate Helen from any allies - it would be hard for him to keep her away from the new shop if she had another reason to enjoy being there.

From his pov he'd far rather the cafe was run by someone Helen can't stand, even better if the person can be encouraged to despise and disregard her.

BYOSnowman · 30/09/2015 12:10

Proper pat would have heard Helens reluctance to take a test and immediately thought it would be something to do with rob. If she goes to rob saying she is worried I will be totally disgusted with the rewriting of her character. Especially as we had all the feisty feminism from her not long ago
