The Archers - It's not about the money, money, money, think about Jill's honey, honey, honey, Justin wants to farm by satnav, forget about the prize tag.

Will The Dopeys have buggered off by the end of this thread?
Will Tom finally reach home, after weeks of trekking through the tundra?

WEll bullies always act through jealousy in my experience. Carol wants Jill's life and is going to muscle in on everything. She already had lizzie confiding in her.

Or

She's been giving her herbal tea to relax her but it will spectacularly backfire as the impact on a weak heart is deadly. Thus teaching us all not to go about administering things willy nilly without either the patients consent or medical knowledge

To me, carol is being set up to be a bad character

PoinsettiaGordino · 09/12/2014 09:51

I thought Alice should be more respectful and mind her manners. I'm not usually so "elders and betters", nor do I think that Lynda is always right or shouldn't be contradicted, but I tjought Alice was incredibly rude and she should be mindful of the fact that Lynda's experience in putting on the show shouldn't be dismissed. She can make her suggestions more diplomatically IMO

Bluestocking · 09/12/2014 09:55

I agree, Poinsettia. Alice was unbelievably rude and unpleasant to Lynda, and made herself sound like a thorough philistine into the bargain. She might not agree with Lynda's analysis but she should have been polite.

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 10:59

Ref. Jill; DM is the same age and is very similar to Jill, you don't get to that age with perfect health, I reckon that Carol is drinking too much and expects to be joined by Jill who can't keep up. IMO and E alcohol is easy to get addicted to, that would account for the giggles.

DM wonders why she has no energy and gets depressed, she drinks a glass or 2 of red wine every day (duh).

Ref. Alice maybe she thinks that's how directors should behave Xmas Grin

OddFodd · 09/12/2014 11:16

For a highflying aeronautical engineer, Alice seems to have an awful lot of time (and energy) on her hands. Perhaps someone should give her some wine Wink

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/12/2014 11:23

I have no hopes at all for Alice's high flying career. It seems the Editor and co want her exclusively in Ambridge.

I've been mainly in lurker mode recently, but I'm worried that this thread is starting to die.

In the past few months, we've usually seen a rate of at least 60 posts per day here. A month ago it ramped up to nearly 100 posts per day as there was a flurry of discussion about posters' ages. There was another intense burst following Tony's accident. Now the rate is declining well below 50 posts per day. Are we becoming apathetic? Sad

The last time the rate slowed down significantly was back in September, then we heard the proposal to leave Brookfield, and it all kicked off again. Are we just waiting for the next crisis? (And of course, soaps do make a drama out of a crisis!).

By the way, this is why I've not offered a prediction about when this thread will end (it's probably going to be at the weekend).

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 12:02

Dad It's not Sad IMO it's more cosy !!! It's probably dropping because we all have so much to do at Christmas. I know i shouldn't be on now, I want to get with me mince pies!!

R4 · 09/12/2014 12:29

I've made my mince pies

Another reason for declining posts is the number of people who have gone cold turkey - if they're not listening then they have less on which to base their comments.

DadDadDad · 09/12/2014 12:35

So what you are saying is that the cold turkeys are voting with their feet for Christmas? Grin

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 12:36

Have you done your stuffing too R4? The freezer is a so useful isn't it? I'm going to make some chocolates for gifts too.

SomethingFunny · 09/12/2014 12:42

I agree about Alice being unbelievable rude to poor Lynda.

I haven't been posting because I have been distracted by The Missing thread. There are a lot from The Archers over there..

CuttedUpPear · 09/12/2014 12:42

I've made mince pies and eaten them

Dadadad don't worry about the health of the thread.
Whatever will be, will be.

I personally would like to see a poll:

Will the Dopeys leave Ambridge?

a) yes
b) no

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 12:50

Ok Cutted You've not waited for Christmas Eve then? (for eating mince pies)!

My answer is No.

SomethingFunny · 09/12/2014 12:52

No

R4 · 09/12/2014 12:52

It's got to be (b). If David and Jill go then TA will lose the point of its existence.

R4 · 09/12/2014 12:56

You've not waited for Christmas Eve then? (for eating mince pies)!

You can always make some more! I've still got three jars of mincemeat left in the cupboard.Grin
Haven't done stuffing yet. I suppose I could be organised and do that, and pigs in blankets, but I'm running out of room in the freezers.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 09/12/2014 13:08

But why would it?

Lose the point of its existence I mean?

I'm repeating myself but if the focus were to switch to Bridge Farm (which has seemed to be the plan for the past few months) it would still be "The Archers".

The same if NewPip sets up on a reduced Brookside - though there should be no need for the reduced option when the road falls through the sinkhole.

I would find either of these quite energising if handled properly. But I don't think they'll happen. So -

No. They won't move.

cryhavoc · 09/12/2014 13:09

I'm so pleased for Ed and Emmur. I keep saying it but I hope this is the beginning of a run of good luck and happiness for them.

ppeatfruit · 09/12/2014 13:13

Me too cryhavoc They finally mentioned Nicky yesterday I noticed Xmas Grin.

Ref. mincemeat I make my own because I'm on a weird diet. Xmas Grin

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 09/12/2014 13:45

No. The Dopeys will not leave

Icimoi · 09/12/2014 14:24

Another No here.

Bluestocking · 09/12/2014 15:07

I've found a Fallon-alike upcycled tat outlet!

CuttedUpPear · 09/12/2014 16:11

Mince pies are for Christmas eve ?

Who knew?
And there was me thinking that they were for DECEMBER. Grin

And it's a no from me as well.

They are due a really really uncomfortable time backtracking with the villagers.

R4 · 09/12/2014 16:30

if the focus were to switch to Bridge Farm (which has seemed to be the plan for the past few months) it would still be "The Archers".

The story has revolved around Brookfield from the start. You can't say "bored now" and change the whole thing.

CUP You will save a mince pie for You Know Who on Christmas Eve, won't you?
