I don't know her d.o.b. but Carol was a "young woman" in 1954. (Let's say 20?) So she's surely about eighty now? It's fabulous that she retains such allure.

I do think some of that play discussion was a bit heavy-handed ...

I may be hallucinating this (am on the after a stressful week), but I could swear I heard someone say that Carol was indeed 80. This would be a few (?) weeks ago.

She rather irritates me with her sleeping draughts, ffs. The SWs seem to think she and her herbal tinctures are fascinating, but they're just vaguely annoying. And I hate Jill's giggly naughty-schoolgirl act when in Carol's presence (oh!pium was genius, whoever said it - was it Bluestocking?).

Yes Jill is annoying around carol.

Can somebody please explain some fundamental things to me ( appreciate may be being thick)?
Ruth and David decided to sell the farm if the road went ahead but the deal clincher was that they needed to be there for her Mum...so are they just selling up and going anyway or are they waiting to see what happens with the road? In which case if the road doesn't go ahead, would they still stay but what happens to Ruth's Mum?!
Have they accepted the offer?? In which case why don't we hear about them putting in an offer on the farm Oop North?
Also re the price they got for the farm... Presumably needs to be split between Jill and Kids...so will it really give Ruth and David enough to do all they are talking about? Cos by my reckoning it's 7.5 mill split between five???

We were never told the exact split

But we think it's somewhere between 10% each for the other siblings, & 50% to D & R & 50%!to the others

So if £7.5m, D & R get between £3.75m & £5.25m (but I did that bit in my head so may be wrong)

But it's all stupid anyway

They are supposedly selling irrespective of what happens regarding the road. Ruth thinks they will be up with Heather before the bad weather hits early next year.
I don't know what has happened about their offer. I don't think we've heard whether they have made it, nor the outcome.
The SW are being vague about the split but we think two-thirds to the farmers (so £5m) which will buy the farm up north and the balance to be split between the three siblings. Jill and Phil had a pension when they retired so she is not due any more money from Brookfield.

But the consensus is that it's not going to happen anyway.

It's more that you run the risk of your head exploding trying to reconcile the inconsistencies in the plot.

Can we have a sweep on which big name actress is going to be brought in to replace Hellin in Blithe Spirit. Will it be a pal of Douglas - or is this Alice's drastic decision? Actually I think Debbie would be great in the part. Maybe Jenny and Brian will bring her back from Hungary. Or has Kate been replaced by a big name who could do the business?

I have it on good authority that Kate is now to be played by Kate Winslet. When Jenny and Brine come back from Prague, they will be played by Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. When Chris recovers from Farriers' Pharyngitis, he will be played by Taylor Lautner. Edward'n'Emma will be played by James Corden and Matthew Horne.

Jazzer will be played by Lindsay Lohan.

I have the Christmas Radio Times in front of me and could answer the Blithe Spirit casting question, but I assume the spoiler haters wouldn't be pleased.

I'm getting heartily tired of Jill's silly voice. Nobody talks like that in real life.

I presume Carol's family aren't coming 'because of what she did to dad'.

And I am wondering if it husbands that need to worry rather than wives about their husbands. I thought I got the faintest whiff a while back that she had put up with his dalliances because she had something going on herself. Possibly a woman but I could be mad.

What about Jill's mysterious indigestion? Is she about to have a serious health problem in competition with Heatherpet? I also thought that it was quite significant she didn't want to host Christmas - catering is normally her raison d'être.

Could Jill's indigestion all be a precursor to Ruth falling ill again? The old distraction technique - we all start fretting about Jill and then wham! the real problem lies elsewhere. Perfectly fine in theory, but I don't warm to Ruth and never have, so her problems tend to leave me cold.
