The Archers - It's not about the money, money, money, think about Jill's honey, honey, honey, Justin wants to farm by satnav, forget about the prize tag.

Will The Dopeys have buggered off by the end of this thread?
Will Tom finally reach home, after weeks of trekking through the tundra?

Yeah, I think Kirsty should have an obligatory counselling session with AnyFucker before she even thought of taking Tom back. She would sort her out. Smile

R4 · 04/12/2014 22:47

If Kirsty comes back then not only will we have to consider the Kirsty/Tom dynamic but also the Kirsty/HellRob relationship.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 04/12/2014 23:05

If Kirsty comes back she's a bloody idiot

I could imagine it if they hadn't disappeared her for 6 months. Why on earth would she come back to the seat of her unhappiness

TopazRocks · 04/12/2014 23:14

I get the impression she's from Borsetshire so, if she went back to parents' house, then she's not been far away. Presumably why she heard about T's accident as it would be in local news.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 04/12/2014 23:24

I never thought she had a local accent. I thought she was a northerner!!

Icimoi · 04/12/2014 23:48

I wonder if the purpose of mentioning Kirsty is so that she can come back (probably played by another Troughton or Imrie) and instantly notice what no-one else seems to have spotted, namely that Helen has lost loads of weight. With Tom standing up to Knob, they could get together with Ian and Pat, put two and two together, and push her to LTB.

TopazRocks · 04/12/2014 23:58

But this is TA. Accents have never been relevant to where the characters
grew up. Grin I just think there was passing mention years ago of Kirsty's mum being nearby. Bedtime now. G'night, all.

TopazRocks · 05/12/2014 00:05

According to Wiki, Angus Imrie has 2 half-sibs. They aren't actually actors afaik, but does that matter? And their father is a very famous actor. I wonder what part Benjamin Whitrow would want in TA.Smile You wonder at them ending the Knob abuse story so soon, but maybe you are right, icimoi. Right, bed now.

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 05/12/2014 00:32

Kirsty should come back and marry Patrick, who has always loved her (and could be played by a spare Imrie/Troughton)

Oooh, and didn't Patrick threaten to deck Tom for jilting Kirsty. Such fun!

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 05/12/2014 00:33

Here's the missing '?'

GypsyFloss · 05/12/2014 06:20

I reckon Kirsty will be back, why mention her otherwise? Yes to her noticing Helen's weight loss and yes to her and NewTom running off for a secret wedding.

stilllearnin · 05/12/2014 06:29

It was always K who was going to save Hellin. It will unite her with NewTom. But she 's wiser now defo. PC plot is free??

Grin at ici moi - we all need a session with AF at least once!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/12/2014 08:11

I keep coming back to the (then very) new Editor saying that it was important to "test" Tom and Kirsty's relationship because the future of a farm and a dynasty hung on it.

They'll live on Bridge Farm. Mark my words.

And yes to K saving Helen.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 05/12/2014 08:39

Am I the only one who finds the idea of Kirsty and Tom getting back together plain old wrong? Being cheated on and jilted is not 'testing' a relationship. I would say either alone is a death knell to a relationship.

I think the hellrob story will have an unnecessarily overly dramatic conclusion involving Jess and the baby

Or

Helen will kill him and we will get another ott free the ambridge one storyline

I had high hopes for a convincing and long running DV story but fear I may be disappointed.

Cretaceous · 05/12/2014 08:52

BYOS - no, me too. Especially if it's presented as true love finding a way . At least it's too late for NewTom to propose to Kirsty again and marry at Xmas... I vote for Patrick. Anything else would be demeaning to women, if you ask me... men can treat you like dirt, but hey, they really love you after all. I would like to see Kirsty return, though.

Abra1d · 05/12/2014 08:55

Oh I hope Helen murders him!

PseudoBadger · 05/12/2014 09:02

It is wrong. Anyway I read "because the future of a farm and a dynasty hung on it" as it went tits up and now look what's happened, not that they are the future of it.

OP posts:
ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/12/2014 09:23

I agree it would be demeaning to women. (Though that's never stopped them in the past. Or present.)

But they've told us that Kirsty still cares enough about the family to overcome any natural reluctance to contact them. I asked a while ago if we knew the actor had definitely left. Which was obviously the wrong question ... I hope she hasn't had a body-swap, no replacement could have such a lovely voice.

BTW does anyone know if "Pat" had drama school training or comes from an appropriate family. Because she's been gone a good few days ...

ppeatfruit · 05/12/2014 09:25

Just caught up with yesterday's; as Zero said, a GOOD episode, though why haven't any of you moaned about Alice having the time to be Lindy's asistant director Grin.?

She's also going to bring in a 'new man' to Ambridge and there have been more than enough Grin.

Loved NT standing up properly to Knobend who seems to have met his match at last HOORAY!!!!!

Also Linda actually telling Rooth like it is YAYYYY!

R4 · 05/12/2014 09:30

Has Hellin asked Rob recently "how's the divorce going?" It's nearly a year since they split and no-one ever mentions any paperwork or settlement discussions.Confused

BringYourOwnSnowman · 05/12/2014 09:33

Don't worry about the new man - it just a special guest for the blithe spirit Xmas special so he won't be here more than a month

So can I get something straight about Alice? She's an engineer isn't she?

The way she talks if her workplace it doesn't sound like the environment my few female engineer friends work in which tend to be VERY male

BringYourOwnSnowman · 05/12/2014 09:36

Also, full marks to whoever it was who suggested we would get some actors from FLOS!!

Theas18 · 05/12/2014 09:38

And new man is Julian rhind tutt. ..... A very nice xmas pressie to the addicts Smile

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/12/2014 09:40

It's very strange. There are so many other characters who could do the things they get Alice to do - even going back to blowing up balloons for the wedding. It's utterly ridiculous (I've used that word a lot about TA recently) that she's always hanging around doing any "ditzy" thing that turns up. She ought to be exhausted from work and almost unable to talk about anything else.

And Rob, with his time off in lieu. On which planet? I so want him sacked before Christmas.

R4 · 05/12/2014 09:42

I'm not convinced by NT standing up to Rob. Rob is a canny operator; he made some major decisions when he thought he had free rein before NT was back on the scene but he could easily change tack and play softee-softee.
He had OT in the palm of his hand, he could do it again.
