The Archers - It's not about the money, money, money, think about Jill's honey, honey, honey, Justin wants to farm by satnav, forget about the prize tag.

Will The Dopeys have buggered off by the end of this thread?
Will Tom finally reach home, after weeks of trekking through the tundra?

Hmmm. It's all about Peggy though isn't it. She is such an old witch.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 01/12/2014 19:26

I'm with BYOS on this. I agree with Zero that it is awful that Peggy felt she had to say that she loved Tony, but to fear that you may outlive one of your children must be a terrible thing. Peggy's not all bad by any means.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 01/12/2014 19:28

Tony must be lying there wondering if anyone is ever going to sit down and talk about him.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/12/2014 19:29

If I catch the repeat tomorrow I'm going to try to count the number of times Peggy said 'I' or 'me' during that little speech. Didn't make me tear up at all.

Hope we get Dave telling Brian tomorrow... poor old Adam. The first in the line who've been counting their chickens.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 01/12/2014 19:30

It was the always loved Mimsy. That's such a long time for it to have remained unsaid.

I do hope he survives.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 01/12/2014 19:34

I am now more certain than ever that it's not going to happen. It's really quite distasteful to hear Shula, Elizabeth and Kenton merrily waving the Dopeys on their way with one hand and counting the spondulicks with the other.

However, for all we know S O'C is in discussions right now with other acting dynasties to come and colonise Ambridge. Vanessa Redgrave to play Christine, maybe, with Jemma Redgrave taking over as Shula. Sinead Cusack could be Lynda and Jeremy Irons could be Robert. I can see it now.

PseudoBadger · 01/12/2014 19:37

We haven't heard Pat for a while. Does NotTom have an acting mother?

PseudoBadger · 01/12/2014 19:38

How about John Cusak as Kenton, Joan Cusak as Elizabeth?

guineapiglet · 01/12/2014 19:42

Maybe it's just my sensitive ears, but tonight NewTom sounded exactly like the same actor who played Harry, Jazzer's old house mate, has that actor been recycled?

Poor old Brookfield, they all seem keen to dismantle their heritage and wave it goodbye, all have legitimate long term projects on which they've spent their inheritance...horrible to hear the greed and no genuine nostalgia, find this very unrealistic. What about Freda and Bert, long term tenants? I am sure Phil would not have wanted to see them potentially homelessSad. Kind of flies in the face of Christmas spirit somehow.

As for Peggy? Probably too little too late.

BringYourOwnSnowman · 01/12/2014 19:44

I think you're all heartless (except mimsy).

If I was in Tony's position is rather hear what people felt about me than them going on about me. And then is like them to move on quickly and just tell me stuff that's going on.

Although really glad I'm not in Tony's position now as dh would probably think I'd like to listen to the omnibus and is be lying their gettibg pissed off by the dopeys!!!

BringYourOwnSnowman · 01/12/2014 19:46

Jill annoys me the most. She is so passive about the whole thing

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 01/12/2014 19:46

Interestingly

Cabin Fever's almost finished.

Some of them (...) might be looking to move on to another R4 show.

choccyp1g · 01/12/2014 19:46

I hope Tony recovers and survives at least long enough to remind Peggy to change her will.

PetulaGordino · 01/12/2014 19:53

Benedict cucumberpatch as Adam?

PseudoBadger · 01/12/2014 19:59

I had a tear for an old lady's regret, and for the lost relationship of a boy and man Sad

Well the worst parents are those who think they are perfect.

An if you judge yourself on how your kids turn out I'm not sure many in ambridge were/are great parents!!!

PetulaGordino · 01/12/2014 20:12

This is when the archers is good - when we're debating about a character like Peggy's words and meanings and reactions and what her son would want and need to hear

CuttedUpPear · 01/12/2014 20:31

Benjamin Cumberbunch (as he is known in this household, DP has worked with him) will have been too busy on the period version of Sherlock to move onto TA unfortunately.

Selks · 01/12/2014 20:35

Interesting to hear Peggy rambling on about Jack. I had no idea that there has been 'issues' with him.

Selks · 01/12/2014 20:36

Yes re the will. Peggy should go and change it now.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 01/12/2014 20:41

Selks You talking about her first or second Jack?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 01/12/2014 20:44

CuttedUpPear, I feel certain your DP would value some unpaid assistance in his work. When will he need me to turn up?

PetulaGordino · 01/12/2014 20:55

I didn't really think BC would be turning up Grin

But I would love to see Arthur turn up in ambridge!

Icimoi · 01/12/2014 21:10

Could be fun if Piggoi does change her will. Knob won't like it at all, and will have to do a screaming U-turn on organic farming in order to suck up to Tony and Pat.

Icimoi · 01/12/2014 21:20

One of the many gaping holes in the Brookfield story is that none of the siblings seem to give a stuff what Justin might be planning on doing with the property. If he plans to build 500 little boxes their names will be mud in Ambridge.

And it's not really good enough to justify it to themselves on the basis that if someone else bought it, they too might sell out. Because we know there's one candidate who's not going to do that, i.e Brine - apart, of course, from his plans for the house, but the Dopeys don't know that, and at least he would continue to farm the land.
