Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 17:22

WooHoo - just got shipping notice - estimated delivery date 30 June...!!! Astonishing - I'm hoping the "pay the tax/import duty deposit up front system" means it's all going to go quickly and smoothly..... It certainly sounds a professional way to do things - and so far my experiences with amazon.co.uk and amazon.com have been good.... fingers crossed!

suzie38 · 27/06/2011 20:05

Congrats...Hope you like it better than i did...Out of interest i measured the Donkey seat and it's 1 inch smaller in each direction.

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 21:02

Some buggy seats have loads of room like my bj summit... but then the swift has a much smaller seat yet is still big enough for the child.
The uppa seat is deeper from seat seam to back of knees by a couple of inches than our swift and from knee seam to footrest uppa seat is about a couple of inches longer too.

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 21:08

I liked our Mutsy 4rider light which was without suspension, but Ds got too tall for the seat on that. I'm hoping the uppa has the extra few inches I'm looking for in seat size, with a little shock absorbtion, and I'm looking forwards to the huge basket beneath, and like the inbuilt hood sunshade and breeze panel. For me its a Mutsy / bee / cameleon hybrid!

Hi ladies, I'm pondering my new 2011 nipper....still due in July from out n about......but meanwhile.....am nearly certain will get a twin triumph for quick trips and pop a bug snuggle on one seat for the nearly one yr old, the 3.5 yr old looked ok in the seat, quite comfy she said! And didn't look too big, tried them in twin techno and they looked very squashed, weird as throat this would have the bigger seats. Now have eye on Mac xlr......would you have that as a main buggy, dd2 is nearly one after all, and she is walking, and I would have the triumph if needed for two seat option for next few months. Xxx opinions please on the lovely looking , looks far more comfy thN the xt.

aswellasyou · 28/06/2011 09:39

I saw an XLR in JL on Sunday. I've never seen one in real life before and I've always thought people were exaggerating about how big they are. I stand corrected though. It looks like you could fit a 10 year old in it. And it was really pretty too! Obviously, I don't know what it's like practically, but if it's as good as people say I reckon it would be a good only buggy if your youngest is happy facing outwards all the time.

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 10:14

The xlr I think is the most luxurious of the maclarens, with the posh handles and suspension its the nicest to push too.

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 10:26

My Vista is @ New York now...Grin

aswellasyou · 28/06/2011 10:30

I'd been put off Maclarens but the XLR would be a definite possibility in a few years if my daughter still needs one. Are we about to start a new world tour?!Grin

mummyistheword · 28/06/2011 13:58

Hmmmmmm thankyou, xlr could be the one for me, am kidding self about off road, don't really need the air tyres of a nipper, I just like how well air tyres push even just on slightly bumpy pavements! My dd2 is more than happy facing forward all the time, she is even happier out of the buggy tbh! Walking! She's taken off with it last four weeks, she's one mid July, Hence I have started to get annoyed lugging the p t sport about all the time, dd1 was a proper sit down in the buggy quite happy type though! Hence tempted by the Mac twin triumph, they can pinch each other then too! I will have to see one in the shops tmrw then, maybe the height will put me off, I like small handle height, am five four so fairly average, the seat size and weight capacity would be perfect though, dd2 is a big girly! Hmmmm cantnwait to see one, never thought of having Mac before, did hav an xt for three weeks oncebthen swapped for the original bug bee,,,,,regretted that one actually! Do they have a decent resale value I wonder? Omg could end up with two macs, twin and a single....hmmmm. More variation needed, but......I do like the fact they are made in thus country, i think. .. And the warranty guarantee life thingy.

suzie38 · 28/06/2011 18:07

My Indie is still nowhere to be seen [grr] but my Seagrass nappy bag has been shipped but no tracking number...Bought that through Amazon and it says customs tax has been paid...Shame i can't get the other bits though Amazon but seems like the other sellers don't ship overseas except one but you have to sign up to that Bongo thing...Anyone done that???

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 18:15

I couldn't buy the Vista snack tray on amazon. V glad the pram has a tracking number! Hoping its not held up in customs, sometimes they're a while looking at stuff before slapping on the tax and passing it on. I would be so chuffed if I got a refund on the import fees. Got a funny feeling I won't though.
I love that seagrass colour. Hope your indie arrives v soon.

suzie38 · 28/06/2011 18:20

My Indie is the Walnut color so i can use my Bugaboo custom giraffe footmuff...Mind you the light blue bit on the Flyer is already dirty!!! The footmuff doubles as a seat liner which will be rather handy...And i can use the snack pack on both pushchairs plus the Flite if i decide to get one.

Guildfordnanny · 28/06/2011 18:27

I have decided to keep my Mutsy chassis and at some point sell the Duo set and get the fun seat when the baby is old enough. I tried out my Babyhome Emotion Xtreet today. I have mixed feeling about it. The good are that it is incredibly light, neat, small, great looking, easy adjust straps, nice padded seat, hood, large basket, easy to fold etc. I discovered a small net pocket that was perfect for my keys. I didn't like the way the storage strap trailed on the floor - you can remove it each time but it's a bit of a faff. My biggest niggle though is the foot rest. It is narrow and slopes downwards. My 2.8 year old couldn't keep her, admittedly large, feet on it. She ended up with her legs straddling the seat ie dangling over the sides which I don't like as I don't want to catch her knees going round shops. We tried out the raincover and it was a good fit and worked well. You also get a free insect net. I had hoped my daughter would be able to use the Xtreet for some time but I think it is now the pushchair for the baby. The Silver cross Halo is very similar so will try that out next time.

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 18:36

My Ds didn't like the Mutsy fun seat as much as I thought he would. The seat is quite hard. Not v relaxing so not for long outings. Great for the beach though. Just hose the sand and icecream off after use!

Guildfordnanny · 28/06/2011 18:39

To be honest I would get the fun seat for the beach rather than anything else. Is there a harness or any support at the sides?

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:23

There is a harness, but no support at sides, or even back! There is an arch at the seat back, but its not one they could lean on. Would stop them toppling back into the shopping basket if you hit a bump.
I added strap pads to the shoulders and waist to make more comfortable as the straps are not comfortable for a baby in light summer clothing.
It's a fun seat for short grocery trips, or the park or beach. There's a huge basket at the rear of the fun seat. It takes About 10kg I think. That's all your fruit and veg shopping or a family picnic, drinks blanket and football!

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:26

For a whole days outing we would pack both Mutsy seats in the car. You can use the hood and raincover over the fun seat, or the optional sun canopy.

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:27

Fun seat can face parent or face away too!

suzie38 · 28/06/2011 22:27

My Indie is in Parcelforces hands and has a Parcelforce tracking number now...Bad news it's still waiting for customs clearance.

Guildfordnanny · 28/06/2011 22:28

Thanks for that. It's not really much good for us then. You have saved me £80 or so!

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:29

Suzie38 is your walnut indie organic or recycled fabrics? I thought the more sophisticated coloured ones had special fabrics.
Hope it arrives soon without any duty!

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:32

Fun seats come up on eBay from time to time. If I got chance I'd improve the design.

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:44

My Vista is in east midlands depot gb!!

No mention of customs.

If they don't charge it the refund of that fee can take up to 60 days... crossing my fingers I might get that back...

FriggFRIGG · 28/06/2011 22:45

ahh.....im very close to buying a bugaboo bee again.....Confused
