Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
Guildfordnanny · 20/06/2011 14:27

Monkey and Frigg, I would love anything at all, whether a write up of any sort, photos and Monkey the measurements in cms would be great. I measure along the seams unless theft really curve in (usually at the back), in which case whatever is fair. It's lovely to have some fresh opinions :) Frigg, what were your thoughts in comparison to the BJCS? Or just write them up ;) i am glad the Contours fitted in your mums car.

I need to get my CS out but am waiting for my borrowed Zoom to do all three side by side. Off out in a minute with the Mutsy for the first time, after a major Ggrrr after hubby wanted to try put his new tyre pump, and ddnt listen when I told him to read the tyres for the psi. He pumped them up to 60!! I know a P&T should be at 22 psi, and it turns out the Mutsy is only just above that! He is luck he didn't burst the tyre!!!!

Mamaesi, when is your baby due?

mamaesi · 20/06/2011 15:15

not till nov/dec

mamaesi · 20/06/2011 15:16

but i like to start debating buggy well in advance:)

Guildfordnanny · 20/06/2011 16:48

I think you have the best three options for your age gap there. I am hoping to get a +one but at present I am hesitant about recommending one to anyone with a small baby until I hear whether MB have managed to put a decent recline on one seat for a six month plus baby - apparently it might be being looked at. It is also very long when folded. It won't fit in my car boot. I also would not recommend the current Peach Blossom
Kit but the new one has made the Peach Blossom
Into a very practical and very beautiful pushchair. But again you will have to wait and see when that is being released. Finally the Duet. A side by side with full sized seats, yet smaller width than most tandems. I discovered a niggle with it last week. The car seat adaptors require the fabric removing and they take a bit of time to fit - a bit faffy! So great if you use one mode but I constantly switch between car seat and seat/ carrycot mode and for that the Peach is better. Best Buggy should have information to help you. But be patient and wait because 2011 is bringing some fantastic doubles and it would be worth watching every move on the two MBs and new Peach and then deciding. I see the MB as more of walking pushchairs but if you want to switch easily between car seats and normal seats then the Peach is better. The +one will only take one car seat ie you can't carry two children - it is a single in that or carrycot mode.

The Mutsy Duo - I suspect I could have a love hate relationship with it. It's cute, neat, cool looking and lovely and bouncy to push along. But OMG the steering! I was expecting rear wheel to be harder but it just didn't do what I wanted! I got completely laughed at and even told to try without the children in (!) when I tried to turn in about a metre and a half square and failed to do it! It was easier to lock the back wheels and drag it out! On the straight it's definitely easier to lock the wheels because there is just enough give to give minimal steering ie to gradually change direction or avoid people rather than cornering. I enjoyed the challenge! Fab up kerbs - I literally drove straight at them and up we went. The seats are my major niggle really. Very hard ie no padding whatsoever! Very upright, for the first time I had to recline my baby when he was awake because he was struggling to stay so upright. But he is sat in the front seat enjoying the view now and is fine so maybe it was just whilst being pushed along? The back seat hood is low - I see now why the hoods are padded because the childrens heads rest on the fabric. The back harness is huge even fully tightened. I am twitching about my 11 month old in it never mind a younger baby. I would not put a small baby in this (I know you have to use the footmuff for a newborn) but even six month old plus. I find having to build the pushchair each time very annoying. There is the frame, two seats, two hoods, lots of clips and awkward angles. But having said all that the Mutsy I am sure would be a great off road and probably beach pushchair. I see it as a 'let's walk the dog' or go to the beach short outing type pushchair. Hubby loves it, I do too on a strange way (I wish the seats were even a little padded) but we don't have anywhere to leave this up and I think all the components will get annoying to build, take apart and store. A good second pushchair though!

aswellasyou · 20/06/2011 17:56

I've only just looked at the folded Contours photos. You're not putting me off it in any way! I still love it, Saoirse's still not a big fan. Sad What are the seat's weight limits on it? It could be something we could get this time next year when I'll have finished university, won't have a job and have nothing better to do than take toddlers to the park.

Guildfordnanny · 20/06/2011 18:12

I don't know without looking it up. Are the limits on BB? Given it's not a UK pushchair as such the weights will be US tested. I don't think the fold is too bad to be honest. The handle just sticks up a bit. BTW I will let the Mutsy off the hook a bit because the seat unit will come off as a whole which makes things much easier to deal with (and faster) as long as you have somewhere to store the bulky seat unit and relatively large chassis.

fairimum · 20/06/2011 18:47

ok so a vigour 3, an urban detour quantum OR an icandy apple with the jogger wheel? would need to add a buggy board i think - any experiences/thoughts greatlyfully received - also how big/small are they folded? weights etc? i heard the apple was veyr heavy?
thanks :)

Guildfordnanny · 20/06/2011 19:52

The iCandy Peach Jogger parent faces too - but its brand new on the market and not cheap. BTW iCandy say not to fit a buggy board to their pushchairs - it invalidates the warranty.

Guildfordnanny · 20/06/2011 21:37

Everyone is quiet here this week. Are you all spent up or just content with what you have, or simply busy and happy playing with new toys? I finally paid for the second seat for the Taga today. It's coming from Switzerland. I have been pondering my favourite pushchairs today. Which is your Number 1 favourite of all time - the one you would keep / would have again if all the rest were to go? And why eg for an aesthetic reason, or easy to push, or just uber practical or a good all rounder? One single, and if relevant, one double.

fairimum · 20/06/2011 21:39

i 'think' we are going to look for a vigour3 - but only as i can't find any reviews or anything on the urban detour quantum - wish could find a comparison of weight, size etc!

suzie38 · 20/06/2011 21:47

Well i'm still waiting on my American imports...I've got 5 pushchairs for sale on eBay plus a car seat...Using the Oyster mostly at the moment but the apple pack DD chose was a bad choice!!! It's dirty already so wish i'd stuck to my choice of grape...Can't decide whether to buy that color as it's £50 a set and i intend to sell the Oyster when i get a Strawberry...At the moment i like the Donkey the best but if i had to chose just one to keep it would have to be my cheap and cheerful Citisport as it's so handy...Light, small when folded, big basket for it's size, so so easy to fold one handed, no need to strap in because of the totally fixed bumper bar which is great for carrying up and down stairs ie on the tube system...DD loves it and often chooses it over all the others if it's in the house...She generally naps in it twice a week so it must be comfortable...And it's so easy peasy to push even when fully loaded with bags off buggy hooks though it does tip up if DD not in it though.

Was watching a Taga that went on eBay today...DH did look vaguly interested and it would have been great if we had moved and had just one car but we're not moving now.

suzie38 · 20/06/2011 21:48

I'm selling a Vigour 3 on eBay right now.

suzie38 · 20/06/2011 21:50

My goal is Donkey, Strawberry, Flyer and Indie...Along with Citisports that grandparents use...Plus even though i don't like it i'm keeping the Quest but it lives as an emergency spare at my parents house...Trying hard not to deviate!!!

Honeydragon · 20/06/2011 22:15

I've had the Urban Detour as a loaner and the Vigour, much preferred to Vigour. Nicer fold and iirc their isn't much in the weight but the Vigour felt lighter, lifting it in and out the boot Smile

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 20/06/2011 22:17

basket on the detour was ok though compared to the Vigour

aswellasyou · 20/06/2011 22:18

I'm being quiet because my computer keeps going haywire. I've half fixed it but it seems to have multiple issues. Hmm
I do love my Gecko but it's not as comfy as my Halo. I'm really attached to my Halo and don't want to give it up. I don't think I could have a perfect pushchair though-I can't imagine not looking at other pushchairs lustfully.Grin I do feel like I'd be really happy with a Contours though.Wink

suzie38 · 20/06/2011 22:24

Also keeping the Nuna so DD can use it with her toys when she's bigger/older.

fairimum · 20/06/2011 22:30

Why are you selling your vigour 3? do you know if it can have a buggy board? Also just seen the seat might be small?? thank :)

Honeydragon · 20/06/2011 22:44

fairimum she's selling because she has more than one Grin Suzie likes Vigours Wink

Mind you, I can't talk I can't bring myself to sell mine Blush

OP posts:
suzie38 · 20/06/2011 22:45

Because i've bought a Bumbleride Indie as my 3 wheeler...I'm not a 3 wheel person but bought the Indie for use on buses if it snows...The Vigour can fold in one piece but is bulky whereas the Indie is a little more compact...I'm self employed so still need to be able to get to work...Plus i'm an addict who wants to try new buggies out...I have limited space to store them so new ones means getting rid of older ones.

fairimum · 20/06/2011 22:52

:) Thanks - otherwise have you been pleased with it? I need a 3 wheeler with a rear facing bucket set for DS... difficult monkey!

Honeydragon · 20/06/2011 22:55

Sorry for teasing Suzie Grin

How's the Indie?

OP posts:
suzie38 · 20/06/2011 23:01

Yes both the Vigour and Vigour+ have a neat recline system i've never come across before...The Indie is nowhere to be seen...Mind you the guy did say 3-4 weeks but annoying when Frigg got her import in less than a week...I've emailed the seller to see if it's been shipped...Personally i don't think they have them in stock and just order from Bumbleride when someone buys one then ships...Same issue but different seller for my Flyer...Who said they had 50 Ruby ones in stock, only to email to say Bumbleride wouldn't have any until mid July...So would i like a different color instead??? Getting Seagrass now on DD approval.
