Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
Guildfordnanny · 26/06/2011 11:12

Sighs...I would love to try one out....

MonkeysPunk · 26/06/2011 11:52

And they improved the brake, so it easier and flip flop friendly. Also logo has changed a little...but I can't find an in stock one in the UK online.
I wanted the Maya colour. I could order from amazon.com but it doesn't say which version on that colour, so could order the lindsay or Cole to be sure of up to date model. I wonder if I email amazon.com if they can tell if the Maya is latest model?

MonkeysPunk · 26/06/2011 12:09

Uppababy Vista works out at £552 from amazon.com including tax deposit and 2-4 day courier shipping. Does this mean no import duty on UK arrival because its paid upfront? I've no experience of this system. Does anyone else know?
I would have to choose between Cole or lindsay I think though. Help!

suzie38 · 26/06/2011 12:43

I think there's still a possibility of customs tax because in the States you pay tax on top of the listed price but i varies from state to state...My box had been opened by customs and the import label pocket had also been opened so it had been checked but luckily they chose not to charge me tax...Plus the seller said the Flyer was worth $180 whereas the actual cost was $360 so if i had been charged it'd have been a lot less than i should have paid...My Indie was last tracked in UK customs so will have to see if i get charged for that one...It'll be arriving with Parcelforce which luckily i can easily get to if they do decide to make me pay.

suzie38 · 26/06/2011 12:54

The brake is the same as the one on B Smarts and B Duals as it's virtually the same chassis but folds differently and the handle is telescopic...The seat sits fully upright on 2010 onwards it was the previous versions where the fully upright was where the seat frame was inline with the chassis frame...Seat is definetely about the same as Bugaboos but obviously has the adjustable footrest which is great...Mine was the Mica color, spent hours deciding!!! lol

Guildfordnanny · 26/06/2011 15:13

I have been billed after I have received the item in the past too. It depends what carrier it arrives through. Parcelforce do usually bill you before delivery though. Suzie have you had an Uppa Vista Stroller?

suzie38 · 26/06/2011 15:21

Yes i did but only used it 5 or 6 times before i decided it wasn't the pushchair for me plus not long after i bought it DH ok'd the Donkey...I sold the Vista on eBay for £400 so lost a lot of money...T'was a BIG mistake!!!

Guildfordnanny · 26/06/2011 15:23

I am interested to know why? They seem to be generally well liked.

suzie38 · 26/06/2011 15:31

It has next to no suspension and the wheels are rock hard, ok the suspension might soften in time...What's the suspension like on the B Dual as they're essentially the same frame???Plus on the lowest setting the handle was just too high for me...I just didn't like it...Plus the hood looked untidy when open as it was almost impossible to open it enough to take all the slack out of the material unlike Bugaboos...Plus it could be quite noisy to push, there was a rattle unless you loaded the basket up...I'm so cross with myself as i actually saw one in a shop before i ordered mine but until i used it properly i never noticed the flaws that bugged me.

Guildfordnanny · 26/06/2011 15:44

Thanks for that. The B Dual with no children in was very bouncy because I thought it might be an issue for me - I like firm feeling handlebars. But the B-Dual was great to push.

suzie38 · 26/06/2011 15:50

Well no bounce with a Vista at all...About an inch give, it felt like...The Brio has a similar suspension mechanism but that bounces like crazy which i know you're not keen on, but i love.

MonkeysPunk · 26/06/2011 16:08

Apparently new version has silent hood rachets too.
I would love to see one irl will have to find a store with one I think.
Oc-tykes described the suspension as a shock absorber. Sounds more like the suspension on my mountain bike. Won't kick in until dumped down a kerb perhaps.

suzie38 · 26/06/2011 16:19

Can't say i noticed the hood making a noise...In the area near my mums, i've seen 5 being pushed around, all in different colors...The orange one is the only one i've not seen...One lady loved hers but had nothing to compare it to...I on the other hand had, had a Frog, Bee Plus and Cameleon to compare to and i love all the Bugaboos i've used.

MonkeysPunk · 26/06/2011 18:11

I sold my bugaboos as the seat and basket on the cameleon had holes after only four months use. I lost confidence in the durability of them.
I like a pram that feels sturdy and hardwearing!

Guildfordnanny · 26/06/2011 18:13

I have to say I agree. I didn't have any holes or damage to my Chameleon but the flip over handle just gave too much flex and made it feel a tad rickety. I loved it until I got my first Peach and then the City Select and realised I preferred a solid feeling pushchair.

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 11:39

I was just reading the international shipping data on the amazon.com website - it looks like they are collecting based on estimate up front the import duty and I will NOT get charged any more than that - and I might even get a refund of them IF customs don't charge me.....
amazon.com customs charges

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 12:50

Maya Yellow Ltd Edition is £543.22 inclusive of priority shipping and import duties (£102 - paid up front - and might even get refunded!)...I am v v tempted - but nobody has bought my ebay prams yet....so CC bill has not been sorted as yet...!

I found online at amazon.com it tells me the total cost in GBP (I had been looking on my android phone before so never spotted that info). What a clever clever easy system....and it would work out less expensive than buying internationally off ebay - where I could be charged more in the way of import duties.

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 12:57

saggy canopy on vista thread! Here people discuss the sagginess of the canopy - one owner says uppababy told her husband the factory put the hood rod in back to front - and tells him how to unscrew and turn that rod around - so the canopy is now fixed!
I found this thread while looking for the Maya colourway pics to "drool" over.

I think If I buy the vista - I'll have to sell my Baby Jogger XC Summit and accessories to pay towards it - then I'll have just a Vista and a Swift. A good combo for us I think....

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 13:11

I am about to hit the "buy" button!!!...
I like the pics and the review here.....

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 13:21

Bought this one! - the Maya Yellow edition - with grey carbon colour chassis - it says 2010 version - but I think IS the latest model - as that got introduced earlier in usa than UK - so should have the taller 21" seat back - and all the other dimensions including canopy height are v v similar to the swift (which we are still keeping btw).
I chose the 2-4 day shipping - as it was only £23 and I ordered from amazon.com as the UK seems to be sold out until end July/August.

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 13:22

Now to find an uppbaby snack tray! Grin

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 13:24

I am clearly the only M'netter not out enjoying the sunshine today...it is 31 outside - I have all the blinds closed and am trying hard to keep cool!

Time they gave us an [ice-cream] smiley for the heatwave never mind a Brew !

fuckmepinkandCALLmegoran · 27/06/2011 13:31

Hi I've started a thread but thought I might get an answer from you experts here Wink

My friend is looking a lightweight stroller for her 5 month old. What's the Mamas and Papas Tempo/Beat like, as compared to a Maclaren XT or Quest?

Guildfordnanny · 27/06/2011 14:08

Well done Monkeys...envious? Not much....lol I can't wait to hear your review. Lol re the ice-cream. Mmm...it sounds nice right now. I sold my Zapp ...just need the other stuff to sell now...

MonkeysPunk · 27/06/2011 17:06

I'm too excited about the Vista.... must put the BJ Summit on ebay (as we used our swift off-road at the weekend and it was FINE - so I'd rather keep that - as I can use on the bus/train/holidays and I like the way the swift saves space in the car boot......). I think two strollers will be enough for me - on my last baby Sad and we do walk everywhere (nevermind that my "baby" is 3 now...).

In sept when he starts pre-school our walk goes up to about 7 miles a day (total - all journeys added up).....so there's no doubt he'll be needing a stroller - with the best will in the world - he's no way going to cope well with nursery if I make him walk all that!!!

I'm looking forwards so much to having the option of parent facing when I want to. I also am hoping I get the correct "graphite" ltd edition chassis - as one reviewer said they sent her the wrong chassis - but they did sort it out eventually - but as it's from the USA I do hope that bit is all right. Oh, and the Yellow Maya fabric - which is my favourite too.

Later this year - I'll be able to get the snack tray and colour change packs in the UK if I want - and the rumble seat too (not that I'm going to need it unless I get DH very drunk, and nature is in my favour and I get a sticky preg!).
