Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 16:35

It's the Lullaby lane YouTube Vista review that I like...but I can't grab the link on my iPad :(

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 16:36
- I found it! LOL.....

I am definately going to get my money's worth out of the vista - now having seen this - I know if my rugby player build nine year old has flu this year - I CAN transport her to the doctors without needing a taxi - she can stand and ride.
She is going to be thrilled to be allowed to have a ride occasionally as she always feels she misses out on these things because I tell her she's too big - but this looks strong enough to cope with her if adults managed it!

PLUS I can skate when If I'm running late! Grin

guildfordnanny I much prefer the look of the Joovy Ergo - it does look a more polished and upmarket pushchair - and the canopy for the rear would be handy for your two. The air tyres at the back should make a good difference too.

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 16:39

Uppababy Rumble Seat here has footrest attached - maybe they developed the original or something - or maybe the footrest fits in the basket while the seat clips on or something.....?

FriggFRIGG · 20/07/2011 16:58

monkey, your DD has hypermobilty syndrome?? i have it too! how odd,i hardly ever 'meet' anyone with the same condition, except my Dsis, and i sadly suspect,my DD,when did your DD get a diagnoses?? (sorry about the Off-topicness)

suzie38 · 20/07/2011 17:04

My Flite arrived at lunchtime today, luckily DH was in...So it took less than 48 hours to get here which i'm very impressed with...The Joolz Day XL bag costs £24 but is on offer at the moment for £21.60...Plus my JL can order the Xari for me and i can collect it from my local store...She had no extra infomation ie arrival in stores possibly because Nottingham is not going to sell it...Still think i'd best have a look at it first before shelling out £850.

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 17:47

Dd2 was diagnosed at 3 or 4. She also has. Low muscle tone. Dd3 not officially diagnosed but has all same markers. So does Ds....
Both my sisters and 3 of the 4 granparents have it too I think. Not officially though. There's a points system as to the degree you have it.

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 17:54

if i really had to get rid of one, i think i would have to keep the .............. really hard because they are both good just in different ways, the ultralight as it is more like a single, however if you don't mind tandems then the ergo is great really big shopping basket and you can leave the back seat semi up for laods of shopping and child can still stand on the back. i have the older ultralight with only 2 reclines [hardly any recline at all] but the new one has 3 reclines but i can not but wonder that it would stop the child in the back from sitting down when the front seat was reclined, the ergo has a larger space between the back of the front seat and the back seat which is more of a shaped seat rather than a bench which is why it is longer, i am not used to pushing a long pushchair anymore, but am sure i will get used to it again over the summer holidays. i do not have the seat cushion on the front seat, when i asked joovy for a shipping price the man could not find my postcode on his system said it did not exist, i must live on the moon, at the moment i have a seat liner onit which does the job, but will try again if i start using it alot. i will measure the hood height but i think the ergo will be higher, but both have really good head room,

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 17:56

Thanks Pramsgalore...even though you didn't answer the question Wink!! I need to look up and read more about the Ergo (for about the fourth time)...I really like the look of it....

FriggFRIGG · 20/07/2011 17:59

Yes me and my Dsis have it 'offically' but my dad,one of my other sisters, and two sets of GP's quite obviously had it,my second Dsis's son,is just going through the diagnosis now,but he's 11yrs old now,and in Australia,so i was unsure about when to take DD to the DR as i wasnt diagnosed until my late teens,i wasnt sure if theyd look at me like i was crazy if i took DD,but i wanted it recognised before school as i had such a hard time with PE,and just walking to and from classes(i was always late as a result of it)
sorry totally and utterly rambling now. Grin

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 18:05

sorry i like them both, the plastic handles on the ergo and the foam covered on the ultralight, make no difference, the ergo looks better, you see i have both and don't want to give up either as they are both goodjust in different ways, but remember, the ergo is longer and is heavier but would be more suited for days out and shopping, the ultralight is bog standard nothing special but does the job.

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 18:07

i also would not take the ergo on public transport but i would the ultralight, loving the vista with the piggyback board i could jump on it going along the sea front :o

aswellasyou · 20/07/2011 18:12

The Ergo is nice looking.
Frigg/Monkeys is Marfans a type of hypermobility? My Mum has some clients with it-she says it's a really horrible syndrome.Sad I hope your families don't have it quite that badly. Assuming of course that Marfans is in the same family and I haven't just made it up!Hmm

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 18:24

Thanks Prams. Much appreciated. I need to have another look especially as OH was up for getting one.

FriggFRIGG · 20/07/2011 18:56

yes it is,sadly my 10yr old niece has marfans,it was only diagnosed two months ago,and they said she will be blind by the end of this year, she also has heart problems and some learning difficulty's which mean it's all very hard for her to process and she doesnt quite understand what is going to happen Sad

i think myself very lucky that i only have hypermoblity syndrome,it comes with some weird extras, but nothing life threatening for me.

FriggFRIGG · 20/07/2011 18:57

what does your mum do aswellas?

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 19:05

hood height on the ergo is - front - 72cm seat to hood, but the sun visor pops out so is lower but not in the way of head. Back - 67cm again taken from seat upto hood. Hood slopes down towards the handlebar hence ds could not see my face, not much of a slope though, can unzip out a section for when they stand up and this hangs down, could be pinned up though.
ultralight - front seat to hood is 64cm, again there is a sun visor that pops out but is alot smaller [well is on my older one its a huge fleece one on the ergo]
back - 63cm

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 19:32

Thank you. A fleece hood sounds nice! It sounds like the Ergo would last longer? Decisions decisions! I will have a look later!

Is someone starting a new thread? I hope someone has as good a title ready as this one?? :o

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 19:35

its only the pop out visor thats fleece the rest is a type of canvas,

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 21:31

Arrghhh I have just spent ages reading about the Ergo before dismissing it. So I moved onto the Superlite but I am just not convinced. The safe option would be to order one from Mothercare and return it if I don't like it....I am worried about the supposedly small basket on the Superlite but don't know if I want the length and weight of the Ergo....plus I have to find the seat covers from somewhere. My iPad won't let me see the full comparison table so I will have to wait until later to see the bottom part.

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 21:53

I have never heard of marfans. The ped who diagnosed her spent ages listening to her heart though. I mean like a full five mins... which is forever just quietly listening... I had no idea why he was doing that as i had her referred due to intoeing gait, and constantly falling over... like every five paces! She was always twisting her ankles and sometimes would fall over after standing still when setting off to move again.
Dd 3 has much firmer ankle tendons, but her knees extend too far back, as do her elbows and fingers. She doesn't fall so often, but gets really tired from walking. The ped said those with joint hypermobility work 3 x harder to walk. So to remember if they walked one mile, it actually felt like 3. Too bad they actually walk 2 miles a day which feels like 6 to them then!
Ds constantly falls over, and tires quickly from walking too.
No wonder i am a buggy addict!
Children who are over tired are v hard work indeed. Esp when they have tired siblings feeling the same to be horrid irritable with!

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 22:01

guildfordnanny I think the superlite is the one to get. If you bought from amazon.com you can get the graco tandem generic fit raincover off eBay. Think seller is "undercover pvc" for about a tenner or less I think.
You would get a good return when you sold it on eBay I'm sure.
I think the basket is ok.
To get the ergo with lovely big basket you will have to get used to some heavy steering I think. The superlite sounds easier to manouvers and to get in car boot. Its just not so pretty.

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 22:12

Thanks Monkey. There are plenty pf tandem raincovers kicking around here but the proper one looks lovely and clear and a nice shape! Thanks for the advice...the question is do I go for it...or will I never get my +one???

pramsgalore4 · 20/07/2011 22:21

the new one has a larger basket with side pockets and yes if the seat is fully reclined the child can only stand joovy.com/pages/pd_cabooseultralight.php

Guildfordnanny · 20/07/2011 22:22

Next question...what pushchair do I take to a muddy park for carnival this weekend??

MonkeysPunk · 20/07/2011 22:23

Oooh, look up: J.L. childress side sling stroller net, black on amazon.com ! Sorry can't link as using my mobile atm.
I wonder if you can get these in the UK?
