Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:47

East midlands arrival scan, not depot... might get it on Thursday I think.

MonkeysPunk · 28/06/2011 22:51

Why did you sell your last bee Friggfrigg? Use code VDW6 for 10% off at mothercare until 31st July. Hope this helps.

FriggFRIGG · 28/06/2011 23:01

ooh,thanks for the codeSmile
umm,i sold it because i wanted a double....at the time,i knew i didnt really want it to go,but i wanted a double more IYSWIM.....its also a bit of a pain to turn the seat around and to adjust the harness when i was switching between kiddo's whilst out and about.
im considering getting one again because DD has rather suddenly become an awesome scooterer Grin and because of the scoot induced exercise, was incredibly well behaved, and is sleeping really well until 4.30AM .
so id rather like to get her scooting more often, that means using a single for DS,taking a sling, and switching them if/when DD gets tired/tantrums.
i prefer DS to be parent facing if i can and ATM im using the micralite, not the best for him as the recline isnt great,i mean i LOVE the micralite, but the bee, would be better for him really....

it would use up most/all of the £'s from the MB double sale though....

somebody tell me what to do...

Guildfordnanny · 28/06/2011 23:31

Isnt the Freerider about to have connectors for a Bugaboo? No need to switch the children around then ;) But I don't know when they arrive - probably not for a while... glad your DD likes Scooting...mine is too fast for me and fell off the other day when Daddy wasn't watching and has scraped all her arm :( Thank goodness for helmets because they have saved her face twice now.

ToysRLuv · 29/06/2011 01:15

Hi! Just a quickie to let you all know that I love my new (well, used) M&P Nuna! Just what I needed! DS loves it too, as it's low enough for him to climb in himself. Also, you can use the harness as a 3-point, as well as 5-point, one, which DS appreciates (being able to turn around in his seat a bit better and leaning forward to see things). The colours are not the prettiest (murky brown/grey and green), but I use a buggy liner anyway. Thanks Suzie and everyone else for the tips! I think I will settle now with my Vigour 3+ (for snow and such), Zapp (for plane travel) and Nuna, so will retire from this thread.. at least for a while.. Grin

Good luck everyone with finding your perfect pushchairs!

P.S. Am buying DS a doll's pushchair (I'm getting a vintage buggy, of course.. I'm kidding myself that he will look a smidgen cooler that way). He loves them, and snatches them off girls where ever we go. DH is not thrilled, but buggy addiction certainly seems genetic. Wink

suzie38 · 29/06/2011 05:51

Cool...Glad to hear you love the Nuna...Tis a fab little thing...My DD has 11 dolls pushchairs now!!!

suzie38 · 29/06/2011 05:54

Hi MP...Yes the Walnut coloring is part recycled fibres and bamboo and suppose to be the softest fabric...Bought mainly for my giraffe footmuff.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 07:35

Friggfrigg the bee+ didn't work well for us rearfacing after 2.5y old. His legs were dangling unsupported as no foot rest rear facing. If I extended the seat fully the harness was then too short over his winter coat. Also the weight being concentrated over the rear wheels meant not enough weight over front wheels, so. i got the wheels shimmying if I hurried a little. Are you sure you wouldn't have these issues too.
On the other hand the uppa baby Vista can rear face with foot rest and has huge basket. It will fold in one piece too although only with seat facing forward. It's not as small and light as the bee but might be good in the long run. The rumble seat comes out in the UK in Sept I think.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 07:44

I ordered my Vista from amazon.com as UK has supply issues atm. The Vista scored 85% I believe in the Which report. This has made it so popular our island has run out of them.
I ordered Monday and anticipate delivery tomorrow. It has cleared customs and left east midlands gb (airport) now. I don't yet know if customs have charged or not but amazon.com take the estimated amount as a deposit, and refund that later if you're not charged. Either way there's no surprise bill and it speeds up delivery a bit I think.

FriggFRIGG · 29/06/2011 08:42

ummm,i think you're probably right...im being woooed by an immaculate one on Ebay, and the sellers lovely and sent me LOTS of pictures!
but i did have all those problems last time,im just blocking them out really,i love that its so small and light! Why O WHY,does it have no FOOTREST????!!!!

Maybe i need the uppababy then,or the flyer....oh im getting confused Confused

FriggFRIGG · 29/06/2011 08:56

uppababy vista (possibly buy rumble seat at some point)
bugaboo bee
bugaboo bee+
bumblerideflyer
britax vigour 3

im after something, light, nippy, mainly for DS but DD will use sometimes too, folds small so i can hide it from DP

HELP!!!!!

Guildfordnanny · 29/06/2011 10:41

Oooh does the Uppababy Vista have a footrest. I was struggling to spot one! I thought it looked like the B-Dual with a leg rest but no footrest. It must be the head on angle of the photos I have seen.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 11:58

By Vista footrest, I Meant the leg/foot rest which is on the seat unit. The bee doesn't have that.
Friggfrigg the bumbleride flyer might be more your thing. I don't think the Vista is all that light at 24lbs with the seat unit on.
However the vista can have the rumbleseat, if that option would add more versatility.
The britax dual has many more seat configurations when the toddler seat is on. It costs less too.
Just checked the status of my Vista... can you believe its out for delivery today!
Ordered from the usa Monday 1pm! That is awesome!

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 12:03

Friggfrigg, I'm not convinced the bee is going to be practical for you.
If only you could get a shiny new silver cross wayfarer. Dd could stand on the footrest when tired.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 15:20

My Vista is here! First words about it are: mahoosive. Huge wheels. Basket is v practical. Seat is big. Bananas. (we bought the Maya colour... ). Ds seems a little afraid of it.

suzie38 · 29/06/2011 16:42

Yes it's big like the B Smart/B Dual...I was shocked by the B Smart but wasn't by the Vista as i was expecting big plus had seen one in a shop before i bought mine from Winstanleys...My Flyer has cleared customs but with charges...It's at the national hub now so guessing i'll have to pay and pick up on my way home from work on Tuesday...Though got a letter from Fedex today and no charges on that one...I had an almost brand new all black Wayfarer that i swapped for a cr*p Pop...Big big mistake.

Guildfordnanny · 29/06/2011 16:45

It looks a similar size to the B-Dual so it's interesting you mention that Suzie. Is the yellow bright? I have been looking at the 'Cole' colour and in real life photos it looks a gorgeous blue but in the official photos it looks very grey. Glad your Flyer is on the way Suzie. Shame about the charges though :(

suzie38 · 29/06/2011 16:56

I saw my first twin Mutsy today, in fact i saw the same one 3 times in total...Thought it was being used by a child who looked 4 and a toddler...Turns out there was a tiny baby in the back seat.

suzie38 · 29/06/2011 16:58

It is a shame about the charges but obviously aware i might get collared...I used to import scrapbooking materials from the US and only got charged twice but with a big buggy it's more lucrative...Hopefully the seller won't put the full value on the import notice...The Flyer seller put $180 instead of $360 so would have halved my bill if i had had to pay.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 17:03

First test drive completed. It can turn on a pin. Makes v light work of toddler. Lots of room in seat for him. It's so easy to recline. Foot rest has plenty of length for growing legs. Basket had loads of room for two school bags plus shopping.
I thought there was plenty enough suspension for my liking. Not super bouncy, but comfortable shock absorbing.
Wheels coped well on grass field. Very easy up and down kerbs. Well balanced and easy to push even with 3y old rear facing. Felt nice and light to push.
Love the hood. Especially the vented panel. Will be interested to see how that works in a downpour though, as the raincover zips in at the front. I think there's a potential for heavy rain to get under the flap on the hood. I have a storm cover that will fit already though.
I can see why the uppa baby Vista might be Americas top pram.
I like it better than the bugaboo cameleon I had. It's easier to recline the seat. It's way easier to fold. The basket is bigger.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 17:08

Also the gate opening bumper bar with zip on cover is great. It's very easy to get my son in or out.
I'm 5'7", and find the 2nd up handle height good for me. If you are under 5'5" you might find the handle tall.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 17:17

The yellow is a soft golden yellow. Strong but not super bright. Like a ripe banana skin! There is in the usa a Myles edition blue Vista. A touch more turquoise.
I wasn't sure about the Cole due to grey blue photos. However colour change packs will be available here soon, so don't stress too much about colour.
I got the graphite carbon grey (as opposed to light silver) chassis and seat frame on mine which I love.

MonkeysPunk · 29/06/2011 17:20

Don't think customs charged but not sure. Will have to see if amazon refund that or if ill have to enquire or what!

suzie38 · 29/06/2011 17:23

Yes i'm 5'2" and found the handle too high especially as i prefer my handles on the very low side ie 1 notch up on the Bee Plus...My DD unzipped the bumper bar!!!

FriggFRIGG · 29/06/2011 18:12

i had pretty much decided earlier on today, but since reading monkeys review its cemented!!

I want an uppa baby vista, with a rumble seat!!

im not sure why i didnt see it before, but its perfect for us.

on the p&t i found it annoying that i want sure where to put each child,if DD got out,it either meant i had to switch DS around so he was in the front,or put DD in the back seat (akward weight, she couldnt see,and NO basket room AT ALL!
on the Bdual,i found myself using the tpu seat for DS,but I used it parent facing always, even though i knewit was a total pain for DD as she couldnt see and his footrest was right near her forhead, i couldnt help wanting to see DS.

with both these options the 'second seat' is best used for a toddler who might want to get out and walk/scoot,bu tthe 'second' seat i salways too small for them to sit comfortably and/or see.

i always kick the back seat

in the 'full size' doubles annoy me as DD only uses the seat, say 50% of the time,so the rest of the time im pushing around a massive buggy for no reason.

soooo,then there is the vista,
the second seat is on the back, totally out of the way of my legs,so i would never kick it!i can have DS rear facing all the time without it affecting DD.
its compact enough that i wouldnt feel i was dragging around a double for no reason.
the 'second seat' i HUGE.

and other things i have forgotten because DS is throwing mashed potato at my head, but you get the idea! Grin
