Thread II.......Oh dear

OP posts:
suzie38 · 24/06/2011 20:45

Plus the other seller who sold me the Indie said he could sell the extras but i just bought the raincover as it's an optional extra, but with the Flyer a raincover is included...Tracking seems to have stopped with the Indie but could be because it's with Parcelforce now rather than the US postal service.

MonkeysPunk · 24/06/2011 20:55

Amazon usa would sell me the seagrass flyer, but not the snack pack! I didn't actually order. Just went so far to see what would happen.

FriggFRIGG · 24/06/2011 21:02

i know,its annoying isnt it!!

MonkeysPunk · 24/06/2011 21:40

Hmmm, had a think. May save up to try an uppababy Vista, because it looks like it has a bigger basket and has larger wheels!

suzie38 · 24/06/2011 21:53

The Vista has a huge basket and big wheels but they're as hard as steel with no give in them at all.

FriggFRIGG · 24/06/2011 22:00

how's the fabric choice suzie?!Smile

aswellasyou · 24/06/2011 22:04

I'm loving this! suzie, why did you make me look through the whole eBay shop? I want it all!Grin

suzie38 · 24/06/2011 22:16

Frigg what fabric choice???

suzie38 · 24/06/2011 22:17

Lol...Yes i love looking as well but at least i can give double buggies a wide berth.

Guildfordnanny · 24/06/2011 22:35

I know...I was looking too at the doubles. I have just heard the Vista Rumble seat won't be here until September now :( But then again its nearly July. BTW there's something interesting on BB in the top LH corner. Very exciting! Meanwhile I am now hankering after a Donkey....even though it is madness! But I found out recently that if you kick a Donkey into two wheel mode, then it slides neatly FLAT into a gap for storage. That suddenly makes a Donkey a viable option as with the normal fold we didn't have anywhere large enough to store it! But then its madness paying so much for just a few months use....and hubby is also wise to the Donkey...so one couldn't just sneak into the house....

FriggFRIGG · 25/06/2011 08:51

SUZIE,i meant the colour chocie of the flyer,as you wanted ruby originaly!Smile
guild,thanks for thatWink Grin

ive also been hankering after a donkey too,but ive been putting myself off with the size of it,its the same width as the MBurban and that really clogged up our hallway!!!
the contours is working out well enough, and DD is getting a scooter and a balance bike for her 3rd birthday so i can see myself using a single more often, with a sling for back up!! so when she tantrums i can switch them around...still,i will def need a double sometimes,so i'll keep the contours for a while, then switch too a duet or +one, still undecided!! Grin

Guildfordnanny · 25/06/2011 08:55

I can't remember if I said but I took the contours out yesterday and it was fab! I need to read back and see if I talked about it - i'm not awake yet!

FriggFRIGG · 25/06/2011 08:59

nope,you didnt......Grin

suzie38 · 25/06/2011 09:08

I've bought the matching Seagrass bag off Amazon as i don't think they're made anymore as no mention on the Bumbleride site...Yes no go on the snack pack but i've contacted the sellers and the boss will get back to me on Monday though i may try Amazon for the footmuff in the mean time...Was going to use one i already have but would love a matching set Smile I can use the snack pack on my Indie but doesn't matter if it doesn't match as it wouldn't be my main buggy...The Indie is now in the hands of GB customs (yesterday am) so hopefully will arrive early next week.

For Frigg...It's definetely no Bee Plus but it's hardly going to be for the money...We ended up going to a school fair instead of the chip shop (classy i know [wunk]) It's easy to push one handed but was a bit tough over rough grass whereas i think the Bee would have been easier but it's not often i'd be pushing it that way...DD seemed happy sitting in it and the seat was spacious for her but she is tiny...Basket handled 19 books that i bought...I like the hood far better than my Bee Plus but i did discover the day it was collected the rods hadn't been connected properly so the Bee hood was far better once i'd sorted that out...Obviously with Bugaboos it's easy to customise which i'm not going to be able to do with the Flyer but i'm aware they're going to be selling seperate color sets later this year.

One good thing i like about the Flyer is the footrest that the Bee doesn't have...Because my DD was little pulling the seat out did work as a footrest this time last year but probably wouldn't now if i still had it...Also i do prefer the adjustable handle as it's so quick to rear face so i swapped a few times last night, just because i could!!! I rarely rearfaced the Bee because i know DD prefers to see the world and i needed to use the instructions to change the Bee seat around as i was aware if you did it wrong and forced it you could easily damage the seat unit...We've got a hospital appointment on Monday and it's around DD'd nap time so she will almost certainly fall asleep on the way back to the car park, as i'll park quite far away so it's free plus guarentee a space...Then i'll lay it back and flip the handle so i can see her plus protect her from the sun as it's suppose to be a hot and sunny day on Monday.

It's a far better buggy than the Graco Flip It as the seat on that appears to be uncomfortable, not that DD complained at all...Not folded the Flyer up yet but will compare it to the Graco once i do...I'm sure they're suppose to be around the same weight.

Plus the Flyer comes with a bumper bar which i love as i rarely strap DD in...I did buy a bumper bar for my Bee Plus...And you can have the snack pack of course but did read in a review it could be a tight fit to lift your child in and out of the seat but other people of course just loved it.

suzie38 · 25/06/2011 09:14

PS...Think if i could only keep one buggy it's got to be the Flyer now...Think it'll be great once we start using buses to get around...Once DD no longer naps or has a very short nap i'll feel the need to get out more (i enjoy her long afternoon nap in a cot too much to mess it around at the moment)...And petrol is so so expensive but a bus pass costs £400 for a year and have around 100 bus routes i could use it on which is fantasic...The Flyer has a very small footprint so won't take up too much room on a bus.

MonkeysPunk · 25/06/2011 21:30

Still loving our MB swift here. It's just so neat and practical for all occasions!

I'm still tempted to try the uppababy Vista though. Sort of hankering after the parent facing option and huge basket.
I'm wondering what its like going up and down kerbs, and if the seat is big enough for my three year old.
I hear the seat is larger in the latest 2011 models, but I'm also wondering who has them in stock in the uk. Pramworld aren't expecting deliveries of new stock until mid july or August.

MonkeysPunk · 25/06/2011 21:31

I may consider getting from amazon.com even!

FriggFRIGG · 25/06/2011 21:58

amazon is a bad bad place full of things that i can buy 'with just one click'
and ive been drinking...

[concerned for bank balance emoticon]

suzie38 · 25/06/2011 21:58

I think the only difference between the 2010 and 2011 models is that there's 2 extra colors...Seat is basically the same size as a Cameleon though it's a lot higher up.

Guildfordnanny · 25/06/2011 23:21

Ok, the Contours. Just 13cms longer than the City Select all at the back end but that gives you good basket access plus I actually walked upright fr a change instead of stooping over a handle. Fab to push - even one handed. I didn't have any issues and no arm ache on the cambered uphill pavement that we do unlike the City Select. I loved having baby facing me although DD desperately wanted to go near the handlebar so we tried facing but first of all she could easily have kicked him (we would have removed shoes) but there is a flexible gap at the bottom where the seats meet and it was very possible that she could have trapped the babys foot in the gap if either had moved enough. So I put them back to back. Baby was asleep in seconds - he rarely falls asleep in a pushchair - and it took a bit of tweaking the head hugger but he was then comfy and best of all he could be reclined to flat in this position (although I had to arrange the seats correctly at the start - you need to put the seat frame of one, then the seat frame of the other, then the hood of the first one and then the hood of the other to make sure you can open both hoods. Unlike the BJCS I had an idea of where DDs feet were because you can see the front wheel down the side. With the BJCS I never have a clue where her feet are. We struggled a bit in our very tight post office auditing system (it's a test I take doubles on to see if it handles it) but the Contours drove straight off the huge step without flinching. It was no problem to tip up a kerb either. I wasn't a fan of the non linked brake but I liked a lot of features eg basket and access to it, toddler handles, the wonderful parent console, easy recline seats, easy to push, head huggers etc. I didn't notice the give I talked about before when pushing. The Contours really was easy to push with two. Yes it felt long but 13cms isn't much really and for normal walking or supermarkets etc it's not really an issue. It coped well in the other narrow / tight shop we went in although I did catch a display! When you put the Contours next to the BJCS you can see the quality is not as good. But if you didn't see a BJCS side by side you would be more than happy! Its missing carrycots for a new baby. The seats are very buckety - my 11 month old looked a little uncomfy asleep in them (not enough for me to fuss though). If the fold was a little smaller I would probably sell my BJCS and keep the Contours - I may do that anyway - but will see how the Duet is now before deciding.....I think. In a lot of ways I prefer the Contours to the BJCS - it's certainly got better handling / push ability / visibility of the front. I loved having my baby reclined facing me. I did miss not being able to hear my toddler at the front - too far to be able to try to hear - but I see / talk non to to her for 12 hours a day so 30 mins of peace was nice ;) She didn't want to rear face. I loved being able to randomly throw shopping in the basket instead of doing a carrier bag jigsaw. All round the Contours is fantastic value for money but unless you use car seats, I wouldn't buy one for a newborn.

Guildfordnanny · 25/06/2011 23:23

BTW I have only just discovered today after playing with the Donkey colour generator thingy online, that you can't have a toddler and one car seat on at the same time!

FriggFRIGG · 25/06/2011 23:28

my thoughts exactly guild...i have more to ad,but not tonight,as im a leetle bit drunk and i dont want another wunkgateGrin

Guildfordnanny · 25/06/2011 23:54

Ooohhh I love your wunking....i probably have more to add but need to write everything up properly. But am toooooo tired tonight. I just think the Contours can easily rival the City Select if you don't have an under six month old.

MonkeysPunk · 26/06/2011 07:57

According to YouTube reviews of Vista, the seat back is taller and there is more headroom in the hood of 2011 models. Also hood flap is now fastened with magnets and there were quite a few other little things.
Mostly I was concerned to get one with thevlarger seat though.

MonkeysPunk · 26/06/2011 10:33

New Vista seat is 1.5 inches taller in the seat back. It now takes up to 50lbs. Wheels are no longer handmade and are said to give improved ride. Seat sits more upright than before, giving more room for rumbleseat if used.
