What percentage of your furniture is from IKEA?

it's an obscene amount of stuff in our house

But then I'm generally pleased with the value for money, whereas I just ordered a quite expensive (IMO, £350) coffee table from the Cotswold Company and was quite disappointed.

100%
oops.

Dragonbutter · 08/11/2008 22:06

my rug isn't but dont think that counts as furniture

Swedes · 08/11/2008 22:06

No Ikea furniture here. We do have 12 of their excellent plastic beakers though.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 22:06

I have one dresser, which is currently in bits in the cellar as we haven't the space for it. Nice quality, cheap on ebay but not as solid as some other stuff iyswim.

I'd have far more if we lived near a shop though

thumbwitch · 08/11/2008 22:07

0%!
Hurrah!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/11/2008 22:07

None.

Heated · 08/11/2008 22:07

We have some billy bookcases & some plastic spoons for the dcs.

Visited a CM yesterday and her house is a shrine to Ikea. Fortunately the food she serves isn't Ikea cafe - btw, what is that smell?

JackieNo · 08/11/2008 22:08

Um, some, but by no means all. Maybe 30%?

emkana · 08/11/2008 22:08

So if you don't do IKEA, where do you get your furniture from?

luckylady74 · 08/11/2008 22:09

3 sofas, 1 armchair, 1 double bed, 1 sofa bed, 1 cabinet, 1 wardrobe, 2 chests of drawers,2 cot beds and 1 child bed - OMG everything in the entire house except the dining table!

1 of my sofas looks a bit tired after 6 yrs, but I love the simple style and 'washability' of most things.

cheesesarnie · 08/11/2008 22:09

my computer desk thats it.i wish we had ikea near here

SparklyButNice · 08/11/2008 22:10

One chest of drawers
Two bedside tables
One VERY CHEAP side table (6 quid I think)

The rest of our house is a shrine to the horribly overpriced Crate and Barrel in the US

emkana · 08/11/2008 22:10

You can order Ikea online now

OP posts:
NorbertDentressangle · 08/11/2008 22:10

We only have:

wooden childs table and chairs
office chair
a couple of rugs

(plus the usual kitchen stuff/bits and bobs....you know what I mean...the impulse-buy stuff that adds an extra £30 to your visit)

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/11/2008 22:10

All guest bedroom furniture from lavenderblue, oak with a mahogany finish, and when we do our room bext year will get ours from their, other stuff are antique bits and pieces from parents, just kitted out dining room from ebay.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 22:11

actually nearly everything I have is from ebay

Big old school cupboards - ebay
sofas - ebay
bed - ebay

The boys' bunks were ours when we were little
and I do get a few things from the furniture recycling warehouse for us benefits lot round here

otherwise all ebay really. Which seems quite sad somehow.

misdee · 08/11/2008 22:11

Dragonbutter · 08/11/2008 22:11

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 08/11/2008 22:12

Oh and habitat

I go and buy whatever is on the 75% off pile every weekend! Some of it is hideous but some is great!

Obv not everything but bits and bobs

I also used to do boot fair and loads came from there.

PhantomOfTheChocolateCakeAvena · 08/11/2008 22:14

Billy bookcases (times 3), table, chairs, blankets, pictures, other bits and bobs. 15% ish.

You can only order certain things online for them to deliver here.

DoNotAsfinishedXmasshopping · 08/11/2008 22:14

High percentage of storage type furniture is from Ikea

3piece and beds are not
Kitchen is not ikea

Shitemum · 08/11/2008 22:16

Not very much and mostly small things as we are far from IKEA and have to bribe a friend to bring us things.

Except that yesterday, I can't believe we did this...Yesterday a friend drove me to Malaga, I live an hour and a half away by car, to the nearest IKEA and due to us starting out rather late and getting slightly lost it was 20 minutes to closing time when we got there!
I had to do a mad dash, grabbing and hurling things in the trolley, like someone who had won 4 minutes free shopping in a supermarket or something. Luckily I had done my homework and had a list.
The security guards were giving me the evil eye, I obviously looked deranged...

Obviously I am - 3 and a half hour round trip for 20 minutes shopping...
