Mainly wall... there is a defined slope there

lightlypoached · 28/08/2019 06:42

@Noroof this may be a bit late but you can paint a piece of spare plasterboard or card and hold up against the wall in different places , rather than the wall. Saves a lot of buggering about.

Agree with colours though. It always comes out darker IRL.

I'm contemplating doing a very dark grey wall and part of ceiling (we have a s facing room with white kitchen. Not sure I'm brave enough!

Noroof · 28/08/2019 07:32

Yesterday after trying testers I bought 5l of pebble shore. It had a definite blue grey tone on the tester but when I slapped it on a wall I got mud grey. 24quid down the drain

soakedat3 · 28/08/2019 08:46

I would try everything above the top of velux as ceiling. We have a bit like that in hall.

That's a shame about pebble shore @noroof. I'm sticking with white for a bit. Can't face any more decisions!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 28/08/2019 09:04

@Noroof I tried loads of big pieces of painted paper before settling on Nutmeg White.
We got Mr WheresDoes study done in it while we were away and it's really purple.
We're not changing it but my plans to do whole house in it are now scrapped.
Ditto Natural Calico which is also Mud when on the wall.
Strange as Natural Calico and Pebble Shore are often suggested as light neutrals.

Another one for slopes being walls, Wheredoes, I had an attic bedroom for years and always decorated it like that. Though the all one colour solution is a good one if it works for the colour you want!

That's very annoying, Noroof, the colour makes such a difference to the feel of the room. Good luck being brave, Soaked - that sounds great!

avocuddl · 28/08/2019 09:51

Yep I'd vote for above veluxes being the ceiling.

Shame about the pebble shore noroof 😔 I've just realised my loft room is white and it looks okay so I think I'm going to stick with white for now!

PazRaz10 · 28/08/2019 10:59

I would count all the 'W's and C's and walls in that pic!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 28/08/2019 11:24

My friend painted her entire house in Pebble Shore and it's not remotely mudlike (I went on rightmove to check old photos of it). It's definitely grey but lovely and light.
Maybe paints are like diets - they only work for other people!

I've gone with this idea
..timeless at the window and treating slopes as walls

Note that's not the actual colour

Isittheend · 28/08/2019 13:55

@Noroof, I worried about your colour choice for a moment then! Grin

soakedat3 · 28/08/2019 14:20

@Noroof that looks like a good plan. :) Nothing looks strange and it's nice and even. Also, really lovely light in that room!

avocuddl · 28/08/2019 15:28

How long have you waited for the plaster to dry? I'm just reading online to wait 2 weeks 😱

soakedat3 · 28/08/2019 16:44

I was told 3 days.

avocuddl · 28/08/2019 17:14

Oh phew!

Oooh! Lovely @MyNameIsJane! I really like your tall shelf unit. It's all looking so clean and tidy!

Is your FF a Haier?

chopc · 28/08/2019 23:09

@MyNameIsJane could I look inside your white corner cupboard please? I am having a similar one but haven't decided the inside storage yet

MyNameIsJane · 29/08/2019 05:17

@soakedat3 - yes it’s the mammoth Haier Fridge-freezer.

The shelf wasn’t supposed to be there. We were supposed to be putting in a false cupboard but I saw this in IKEA and I thought it fitted perfectly. My Brother-in-Law made it merge on with the corner unit and I’m so pleased.

@chopc I will get a photo for you. It’s not sorted yet and I haven’t decanted into my many Home Bargain containers yet. 🤓 Watch this space...

MyNameIsJane · 29/08/2019 07:01

I feel exposed! Grin Larder innards.

avocuddl · 29/08/2019 08:42

It looks fantastic Jane!! I'm so jealous of the corner larder! This was my dream but just wasn't meant to be 💔

soakedat3 · 29/08/2019 09:15

That is good larder porn Jane! It goes really well in that corner. It will look so FAB with all your containers.

We have a Haier FF too but the "slimline" one as no room. I am quite impressed with the no frost freezer drawers and how much room it has.

@avocuddl - what did you decide in the end for your kitchen? I can't remember. :(

Noroof · 29/08/2019 12:43

Ooh I'm very jealous of that. We don't actually have a corner space in the kitchen due to doors and windows but I would have loved one of them.
