Mortgage co insistent that they have certain Hmrc info so on that. Likely to take a week though at least.
Building survey on ours tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!!!
Vendor texting today trying to find out when our mortgage valuation might happen.
Sigh!

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 22/07/2014 20:54

Fingers crossed Roger!

Alice, we went for a second viewing (vendor was nice enough to give us his number so we can phone/go round whenever we need a question answered, hoping that means he likes us enough to hold on for us)!

juneybean · 22/07/2014 20:59

I had a sofa delivered to mine Blush the vendors adore me for some reason so I can generally get access whenever I want but I haven't taken the piss apart from the aforementioned sofa

Alice we have had three viewings one after offer to measure up and our purchaser has been four times, twice since the offer was accepted.

Dr - that's tough! I don't think my nerves would stand that! All the best...

Lelivre · 22/07/2014 21:02

Doesn't the process take all the joy out of things? I was so excited when our offer was accepted, it's been living on a knife edge since with all the to-ing and fro-ing

Rogerthatmummy · 22/07/2014 21:30

I know lelivre! Such a roller coaster of emotions, last night I just felt like we should just make do here and not move although more because I am an idiot and seem to enjoy cutting my nose off to spite my face

If we come out the other side it'll be worth it Smile

CelticPromise · 22/07/2014 21:37

Thank you MrsF. DH has a quote from them in the region of £1500 Shock Lots of depressing info online about old underpinning causing grief for years and years to come.

Waiting for more quotes. DH is now having massive cold feet and considering pulling out. He thinks we will never be able to sell it. Aaaaargh.

AliceinSlumberland · 22/07/2014 21:55

Hmmmm ours is empty with viewings done by the EA Simon not sure how eager they'd be to let us go round again. I could still ask though I suppose.

The process definitely takes the excitement out of it - people keep asking me if I'm excited but I answer that I actually just feel stressed! Too worried it will all go wrong at any moment to be properly excited.

Thefishewife · 22/07/2014 22:10

Just had a angry call from mil hubby had not told her that the other house vendors pulled out and that he had not told her we had put in a offer on another house

She wanted me to email her a picture ASAP mil is not a easy person at the best of times she's at her seconed home abroad and not to happy about lawyers demanding ID off them

MissMysticFalls · 22/07/2014 22:31

alice we're overlapping (in rented flat at the moment) so we're not going for a second viewing but going to wait until the vendor has moved out. Think we might even camp over for a night before we move in just to see what the light is like in different rooms during the evening and day to figure out where things/people will go before the big move.

Only 10 days until we exchange and 26 days (apparently) until we complete...

1stMrsF · 23/07/2014 08:44

Another day! Another day of negotiating with unreasonable people! Let's go team, let's make some progress today!

Re: the process taking the shine off the whole thing I am determined today to think about how lovely it will be after the move. e.g. I went for a cycle ride last night and thought about how nice it will be going from the new house (village is flat-ish) rather than cycling up the big hill to our current house!

Good luck today.

dottyaboutstripes · 23/07/2014 09:17

We've decided to pull out. Looks like it would cost upwards of £50k plus massive disruption (we wouldn't be able to live there while the work was carried out)
So now we have a month to find a rental and move in - and dh is about to fly off to South America for a week. Relocating was never going to be a breeze though I suppose! Maybe we can buy a caravan and live in that Grin

dottyaboutstripes · 23/07/2014 09:18

MrsF - once we are there it will be the same for us .... Completely a change for the better so I'm focusing on that.
Hope someone at least makes progress/gets good news today!

juneybean · 23/07/2014 09:25

Ohh dotty :( so sorry!

I haven't heard anything about mine for a few days might chase solicitor today.

kungfooweetie · 23/07/2014 10:17

Which mortgage company did you go with, juneybean?

Our first house fell through- issues on the vendor's end - the second house gets surveyed this Friday with Halifax. Absolutely bricking it- our first mortgage was approved just before the system tightened up so we don't know if we'll get through this time. (2 self employed people, help to buy scheme, etc etc)

Lelivre · 23/07/2014 12:02

Dotty - so sorry how very disappointing and frustrating for you :(

We are signing all our papers tomorrow but still the last lot of searches is delayed. I think our purchasers may have had their going from her text so I may start letting myself get excited albeit panicked about getting packed with tiny kids around my feet and one not sleeping at the moment!

CelticPromise · 23/07/2014 12:40

How disappointing Dotty. I would say though I will never regret renting for this time after relocation. I know the area much better now and I think we've made better choices.

We have one insurance quote that is not quite as unreasonable and others coming back to us. Onwards and upwards!

juneybean · 23/07/2014 13:29

Im with halifax. Only Halifax would take me due to being partially self employed, my broker was trialling some scheme so she had my approval back in a week!

MissMysticFalls · 23/07/2014 13:33

Got a call from vendor's EA - apparently our solicitor is waiting for us to send them the signed papers (sent special delivery on Monday..) and to hear back on the local authority search. News to me! Called the solicitor 5 minutes later and they had found our papers. Amazing. Assuming the search comes back we're still on to exchange next week.

Gemma77 · 23/07/2014 14:02

Bit more progress this week (albeit slow). Our sellers sellers solicitors have confirmed that they have now received the contract from their sellers and have approved it. Now they have ordered searches (although why they couldn't order them four weeks ago I don't know!). Have also sent enquiries to their sellers.

Praying that these set of searches come back ok.... will be devastated if our chain breaks again Confused

Still pushing for completion date of 15/22 August. Our mortgage offer expires in Sunday 24th!!

DrFunkesFamilyBandSolution · 23/07/2014 14:19

Only Halifax would take us too (I'm a sahm, apparently dh doesn't earn enough alone)

Viewer this afternoon, and one this weekend.
Seller has been told of our situation & he's happy to wait, I may marry him (if he waits long enough)!

kungfooweetie · 23/07/2014 14:24

@juneybean Outstanding! Well played. I hope our mortgage advisor is on his game.

1stMrsF · 23/07/2014 16:40

We've exchanged! They caved in about the completion date Grin

dottyaboutstripes · 23/07/2014 17:06

Congrats MrsF! Of course they had to but why be arseholes about it? Grrr!
We've arranged to view the only 2 possible rental houses I can find online so I'm not looking forward to the 9 hour round trip but hopeful one will be ok in the short term. I do feel quite calm and relieved which says to me that house was never meant to be ours Wink

MissMysticFalls · 23/07/2014 17:06

Hooray! Well done 1stMrsF Wine (couldn't find a champagne emoticon).

We get the asbestos and woodworm test results back this week - hope it's all good.
