good luck to everyone else, its an awful process to go through.

CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 09:38

Well done Eve. I'm not looking forward to unpacking either :)

Yay Eve Grin does it feel like yours yet?
Every house we've had it takes me a week before my head finally goes wow this is really ours - I'm probably weird though.
That still seems so far off for us though as we're still in paperwork hell.

CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 10:43

Just had a little chat with our removals company (who are very good!). They are all set to be here with us at 8.30 am on Thursday. Their cleaner comes in about an hour after that and cleans the skirting boards, bathrooms, kitchen (outside and inside cupboards) and then finally hoovers and steam cleans all the hard floors. Sounds a good deal for £120! The removals company have got a good measure of my buyer too! I also spoke with my solicitors to make sure all is ok. The monies are due in tomorrow in readiness for Thursday. We have until 2.00 pm to vacate the premises. I'm trying to do all my internet banking whilst I still have broadband. Last day at work tomorrow until 3rd June!

Time to clean the fridge and Doktor Power the oven - I may be some time Grin

How exciting Cuddy! Must remember to ask removals firm about a cleaner. The lady we bought our current place from left it really clean and lemony-fresh; I was so grateful and made a mental note to always do the same in future.

monkeytennismum · 21/05/2013 14:14

Although I understand you may not feel so inclined towards your buyer!

CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 14:37

I'm sure our buyer won't appreciate it but it feels like the right thing to do :)

Ooo fun Cuddy! I don't even want to contemplate that part of the preparations. I'm currently trying to run down our freezer contents and wondering why it's full of food we don't really like, why can't it be full of ice cream or pizza?
Got our draft contract documents for the sale of our house today but still waiting to hear on the new mortgage.... C'mon do they not know how nailbiting this stuff is!!!

wonkylegs · 21/05/2013 14:45

I've just been to collect more boxes from friends who are clearing out an old storage lot. Lots of sturdy bankers boxes for free! Thankfully they also had some A0 tubes & folders so I won't have to buy any to pack the contents of my plan chest. Grin
I'm sure we'll fill them in five minutes though - how did we get so much stuff!

ghosteditor · 21/05/2013 15:01

cuddy can I buy your house please? you sound nice Grin

MIL wouldn't hear of us leaving our own house in anything less than pristine condition. I know what she will be doing on moving day! Grin (when we left our rented flat, the assessor said it was left cleaner than when we moved in, and cleaner than anything he had ever seen. The landlords were so gutted they had to make up some imaginary missing items so they could keep part of the deposit they'd been expecting to keep)

It now seems the buyer is just checking the insurance issue but should be on for exchange on Friday. CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 15:25

Ghost, it'll be clean but I'm drawing the line at flowers and wine on this occasions! Wink

Fingers crossed for exchange on Friday hinky - what's the issue with the insurance?

OP posts:
hinkyhonk · 21/05/2013 15:30

Over cautious survey says we should notify our insurers re cracks. Structural engineer says report is bollocks unfounded. Buyer wants to make sure house is insurable. A load of panic over nothing from the buyer which is totally doing my head in!

CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 16:16

Ah what a pain hinky - hope it's sorted by Friday.

There's a reason I don't clean the fridge very often! It's like the bloody Krypton Factor getting the parts in and out Confused.

I seem to have hidden this thread somehow - help!

OP posts:
CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 17:05

Panic over! Too many fumes from bleach and oven cleaner I think! Shock

still settling, but am very happy with it, 1st time I've been in a new build and its very nice to have everything new.

Was recommended a carpenter he came yesterday , quoted last night , and starting today for build in wardrobes. Totally built to our spec and about £1k less than sharps (etc) equivalent. :-)

doglover · 21/05/2013 18:46

Good luck ladies. I'm envious - in a nice way - of the fact that you're nearly at the end of this horrendous period! Well done for surviving Smile

Eve · 21/05/2013 18:47

..does anyone have recommendations for somewhere to order and have printed change of address postcards?

Could do them myself but office and printer not unpacked yet.

CuddyMum · 21/05/2013 18:51

Would something like this be too small:-

How are things going Dog?

OP posts:
doglover · 21/05/2013 19:19

The valuation survey was done on our next property yesterday - estate agent said it was ok so should hear about that within a week or so. We've completed all the fixtures and fittings forms for our buyers and are waiting for them to arrange their survey - should be happening next week, hopefully. All in all, it's going ok but everything seems to take an inordinately long time!

hinkyhonk · 21/05/2013 19:28

Buyer coming round tonight to check out the all important cracks. Resisting the urge to rush down and fill them in....

FedupofTurkey · 21/05/2013 20:37

Cuddy - did you all agree a date verbally?
