Prime Day deals megathread

Hi folks,

Welcome to the best place to be for Amazon Prime day deals. Though Prime Day doesn't officially start until midday on the 16th (of July), Amazon are still running great deals everyday so be sure to check out this thread to keep up to date.

Let us know what you're looking for and we will do our best to hunt down a great deal. As always, feel free to share any crackers you spot yourself, too!

You do need to be a Prime member to take part, but there is a 30 day free trial (sign up here) if you don’t fancy paying the full membership fee. Remember, if you don’t want to pay for Prime after the event, you can follow our handy guide on how to cancel - here.

To get things started, have a read of the Official Prime Day page - here.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

You can use CamelCamelCamel to check if the deals are ‘good’ or not. Most linked are good and cheap compared to usual.

@AliceDMumsnet of course you’re more than welcome to link to / copy my post - more people it helps the better!

There are i’m sure deals which may not be as good as they first seem but can assure we’ve been keeping an eye on a prep ‘bundle’ on various sites for a few months now and that’s by far the best deal we’ve seen! Everyone we know who are parents have been banging on about the amazon TT prep machine haha!

AliceDMumsnet · 16/07/2018 17:30

You can get your hands on the same snazzy headphones as @sexnotgender here (they charge while you run - we're amazed.)

And, for five hours only, you can snap up this knitted mermaid tail blanket for just £12.79.

Hi Alice, thank you for your reply. I can see what you mean now. Doh! Wink Grin I thought it was counting down in minutes. Blush
There isn't anything I'm looking for thank you. I have however brought lots of catfood. (I do own a cat. :p )

randomchap · 16/07/2018 18:08

Amazon have been known to put prices up before the sale, then reduce to below the increased price but higher than the original price. It is possible to find some deals but it's worth using a price tracker, like camelcamelcamel, to check the price history of an item.

Marmablade · 16/07/2018 18:15

If you want to check something is 'really' a deal on Amazon copy the URL and paste it into the search box of uk.camelcamelcamel.com/

It tells you the price history. Happy shopping!

FluttershysCutieMarkTheHerald · 16/07/2018 19:00

I just bought 2 echo dots each down to 29.99 but you also save 10 if you buy two. Usually they are 50 so TFTPOO.

talulahbelle · 16/07/2018 19:03

Use camel camel camel before you buy, some things aren’t actually that much cheaper today.

Butterfly1975 · 16/07/2018 19:18

Massively disappointed. Had joined Prime because of this event and had Amazon vouchers which I was hoping to use but there is literally nothing i want!

I'm actually quite confused because I had a look at Fat Face 30% off Prime deals but all the stuff was full price Hmm

The beauty deals e.g Nip and Fab products can all be bought cheaper in Superdrug.

I'm either unlucky with what I'm looking for or a lot of the supposed deals are just a big con.

whatwoulddexterdo · 16/07/2018 19:55

Sorry, but to clarify , I just think this is unsavory and not within the spirit of mumsnet, or how I'd like mumsnet to be. It's obvious there's some greasing of palms involved which doesn't sit well with me, particularly when one of the benefactors is Amazon. These deals are massively manipulated and I think it's completely wrong for mumsnet to be encouraging users to join Prime, let's face it both companies will be hoping we forget to cancel after our free trial.
I'm all up for a bargain and sharing my finds, but this is a huge marketing ploy and the bargains aren't always what they appear.

This is my opinion and I won't be participating. Just thought I'd explain my view further

SussexBonfireViking · 16/07/2018 20:05

i've just got 2 chromebooks for the dc
£99 each - they both needed one, (one replacement and one new) they're 170 normally so good deal for me

SubtitlesOn · 16/07/2018 20:07

I agree with you 100% @whatwoulddexterdo

Why has it not been made clear what advantage MN are getting in the title?

I got some vans for £13 👍 This included a £10 voucher I had already. So chuffed as they were £59 originally and had been eyeing them up for a while.

LEELULUMPKIN · 16/07/2018 21:52

Superga trainers I have been after £50.33 on Amazon. Just got them direct from Superga £30. 50% off

CakeNinja · 16/07/2018 21:57

Got an Echo Show at lunchtime. Went to a friends house last weekend and she had one that I thought would be perfect in my bedroom. It was £200 and I so nearly ordered one but remembered the Prime day so thought I’d wait and see if it went in the sale. Got it for half price, so £100. Very happy.

purplelila2 · 16/07/2018 22:13

My bargain finds are persil power caps non bio 114 for £12.94.

Finish powerball 90 for £8.99

And comfort 5L 166 washes for £5 odd quid.

WeightedCompanionCube · 17/07/2018 07:54

Only thing I've ever really found to be of use in these Prime day stuff is the Amazon stuff themselves where they do drop the price of things like Echos and Fires nicely. Rest of the stuff I'm always sceptical of.

usernotfound0000 · 17/07/2018 09:52

Bought a few things yesterday, checked through camelcamelcamel that they were actually a good deal. Managed to pick up a Ring Doorbell that we've been after for a while, definitely the cheapest price we've seen.

GloGirl · 17/07/2018 10:02

Any good toys on there I can use for the summer hols?

I bought Aqua Dragons yesterday for a tenner, thought we could get some mileage out of that!

Always check UK Camel Camel Camel as advised above before feeling pressured into a quick purchase.

breakfastmeansbreakfast · 17/07/2018 10:09

Gah mumsnet you make 100k just by working with lidl a year, plus loads of other similar deals. Why do tacky stuff like this?

AliceDMumsnet · 17/07/2018 10:28

Morning everyone - we’re going to keep hunting down good deals today!

Thanks for your feedback @Butterfly1975. It's true that we can’t guarantee that every single product that Amazon promotes has been at its 'pre-Prime Day price' for more than 30 days, but we only pull out offers that seem to us like genuinely good deals on products we know MNers rate. But for belt and braces, the price-check sites that @Marmablade and others have suggested are brilliant for checking the price history of any prospective purchases - CamelCamelCamel is one that I really like.

Unfortunately, the FatFace discount was a "lightning deal" and only available for a few hours.

icelollycraving · 17/07/2018 10:29

I assume they do stuff like this so we can use the site for free. The are a business.
Ok, I got a bargain yesterday and then got sent something about a promotion being applied to my account to use on pantry. I can’t work out what the bloody offer is!
