Hi folks,

Welcome to the best place to be for Amazon Prime day deals. Though Prime Day doesn't officially start until midday on the 16th (of July), Amazon are still running great deals everyday so be sure to check out this thread to keep up to date.

Let us know what you're looking for and we will do our best to hunt down a great deal. As always, feel free to share any crackers you spot yourself, too!

You do need to be a Prime member to take part, but there is a 30 day free trial (sign up here) if you don’t fancy paying the full membership fee. Remember, if you don’t want to pay for Prime after the event, you can follow our handy guide on how to cancel - here.

To get things started, have a read of the Official Prime Day page - here.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

@ThisIsntMeHonestGuv oops - the Prime Day price for Seedlip is actually £18.49 Blush. Thanks for flagging!

MadisonAvenue · 17/07/2018 19:43

I got an Echo for £59.99. We have one which we love in the living room and I wanted one for the kitchen. It was delivered on time via Prime Now.

JayDot500 · 17/07/2018 20:39

35% off Trunkies.

Noooooooooo thanks! I'm good thanks.

Callico · 17/07/2018 21:19

If you have student prime you can also get £15 off a £60 too with code:STUDENT15. It’s a one time code to use on your own account.
And if the original price is £60 or more but has gone down to under £60 it’ll still work! I’ve bought the echo for £45. Smile

Another person that doesn't like this thread.

A lot of these are not deals and can be bought elsewhere cheaper.

Please do not create a thread which implies you are implies you are helping people when it is fact a marketing ploy.

NoMudNoLotus · 17/07/2018 23:33

What an utter piss take advertising on here 5p off a bottle of alcohol ... do you have any respect for Mumsnetters ??

Barbaro · 18/07/2018 06:41

Amazon are lying on this deal. Yesterday I was looking at Sims 4 games. The basic game for getting the CD sent to you was £24.99. The prime 'deal' for the code only so you get it instantly was £35.99. So if I wait a few days I could get it cheaper. How is that a deal?

areyouactuallykidding · 18/07/2018 12:54

I can’t believe people are still duped by these fake deals when people are clearly pointing out that they’re not real deals. Even the BBC did an article on how items are usually cheaper at other times of the year.

People do realise the ‘was’ and the ‘RRP’ price are pretty meaningless don’t they!

RainySeptember · 18/07/2018 13:06

Well I've been tracking the price of three items for the past 5-6 months. They've been sitting in my basket for ages, and dropped significantly yesterday so I bought them. They're cheaper than they've ever been, and cheaper than I can get them anywhere else. So, whilst you do always have to be savvy when buying online, or being influenced by so-called bargains, it is sometimes possible to do quite well.

sexnotgender · 18/07/2018 14:55

I’m happy with my headphones deal. Are all the deals great? No of course not but do your research and know what is and isn’t a good deal.

MaryShelley1818 · 18/07/2018 15:01

Yep...as others have said not duped here either!
The items I purchased have been in my Amazon list for a very long time, I’ve tracked the prices for ages and they’ve never been this cheap. It was stuff I was going to buy anyway.

RainySeptember · 18/07/2018 16:09

"What an utter piss take advertising on here 5p off a bottle of alcohol"

tbf they did apologise for the typo pretty much as soon as it was pointed out.

If you're sceptical I don't know why you'd open the thread tbh.

areyouactuallykidding · 18/07/2018 17:03

@rainyseptember because I thought it might be a genuine thread about good deals as opposed to an affiliate marketing push by Mumsnet to parrot what Amazon tell them to in order to make money!

RainySeptember · 18/07/2018 17:11

Well it's both surely.

OP now makes it clear regarding affiliate marketing.

I've bought one thing recommended on here, that was certainly a good deal.

Did you notice their apology about the 5p off thing, that they posted before you did?

I don't know, just seems like a lot of people pointing out that some things in their sale aren't great deals, like every sale everywhere really.

whatwoulddexterdo · 18/07/2018 19:13

It's clearly a joint marketing ploy with Amazon, clearly designed to dupe folks into thinking they are securing some really good secret bargains that no one else has access to.
Mumsnet have been strangely silent , despite the fact that several have raised an objection to it.
Mumsnet will you be posting a reminder to us good folks here to withdraw from prime before we are charged for it?????
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for sharing a bargain, there's loads of good sales on at the moment. I think what's irked me the most is that it's Amazon.
Oh and they don't need to do this to pay staff wages. I'm sure there other advertisements and collaborative partnerships such as Lidl paying this bill.

It's a shame , it's a really dumbing down. But it's just my honest opinion and as I stated earlier one of the reasons I don't use this site much now

icelollycraving · 18/07/2018 19:48

I got some great deals. For example an item for my cat, normally £32 ish, lowest I’ve seen it for is £25. It went down to £18, I then used my £10 promo so got it for £8.

Madforfootball · 18/07/2018 22:37

I've just checked my PD orders and one item is now 10% cheaper, so I've cancelled it. Everything else is more expensive, so I'm happy! (And the one I've cancelled was an impulse buy which I shouldn't have got anyway, so it serves me right!)

JustineMumsnet · 15/08/2018 12:07

Sorry for the delayed response to this thread - it's holiday time so a few balls dropped. We haven't got any special relationship with Amazon beyond a standard affiliate one (ie we get a teeny % of any purchase from a link on MN) that we have with lots of retailers and we didn't arrange anything special for Prime Day. It's clearly a day where lots of shopping is done (judging by the numbers) and we thought it would be helpful to highlight some best offers. Obviously it would also generate revenue for us too if MN users clicked on a lot of links and bought a lot of stuff. We tend to do this for Black Friday/ Cyber Monday too and generally it's been well received and many bargains have snapped up.

In general we try to make a buck via commercial activity that is at worst inoffensive and at best really useful for our users. Maybe Prime Day isn't as useful as we thought as perhaps the bargains aren't what they were - so that's interesting feedback - but our intention here was to kill two birds with one stone as it were. We actually made a total £567 in affiliate commission from the thread and Alice spent pretty much all day looking for bargains etc, so not really a great money-spinner all in all. Hope that clarifies a few things. Thanks as ever for the input.
