Hello
I'm starting a new thread for those with children who are sitting for the 10+ Trinity and Whitgift exams this year.

Keen not be in this journey alone and hopefully share in the experience with others.

DS has offered a scholarship at W and his friend has one from T, W is 5% higher.

We have the exact same dilemma - a nice choice to have I guess! Well done to you and your son

Congratulations! Do you know what choice to pick?

DS always has T as his no.1 and the only one. 😅

What sort of % is trinity academic scholarship?
And whitgift as a comparative?

A few mums mention % of scholarship in the link above. It's really depends on performance of each boys. What I know ranges from 5 - 20%.

does anyone remember the class sizes for Whitgift and DC?

OP posts:
Audley28 · 16/02/2025 07:40

Class sizes are at around 20 in both. I remember asking the registrars. Pls double check with DC as I asked a while back.
Someone mentioned something about offer days in other schools where you can visit and ask questions. Are there offer days at Whitgift and DC? We are going to Whitgift but may be worth going to the visits if they do them.
Thanks and have a great half term everyone!

We haven’t decided yet. To be honest we will leave our DS to go with what he prefers. T was always his number one choice, however the prestige of a scholarship is slightly swaying him… we have decider tours arranged for both and will make a final call after those visits.

Hi again! Did you ask for a decider tour? Not sure I saw the option in our email. If they are offering tours, we might use it to go as a family and bring my other son too to move him in the future. Same for DC. Did people get offered a Decider Tour?

Ksusha05 · 17/02/2025 13:46

We were told at W interview that they will do another tour if you ask for one so more on individualised ad hoc basis. T do them as more of an official arrangement.

Hi, yes, we emailed the admissions team and they came back almost my instantly with dates and times for us to select. If you do the same, I’m sure they will offer a decider tour too.

WisedUpMumOfTwo · 18/02/2025 10:39

Trinity have offered us a decider tour as my son has been offered academic sponsorship. They have a scholars taster session inviting kids n parents for activities/chat.

We haven't received a scholarship, but there is a tour for the boys who were offered places on the 26th of February is this different to that one

Wyml09 · 18/02/2025 16:17

Can I ask how anyone who has accepted either Trinity or Whitgift plans to use the school bus? Is this a popular means of transport for students or do majority take public transport? We have offers for both schools, no preference for either one so deciding what is the best commute for our son. We live in Bromley.

WisedUpMumOfTwo · 18/02/2025 18:24

Our invite is on 25th..half day event in the morning.

I have asked a few people re transport to W and it totally depends on location. The people we know in Clapham take the train and people we know in Dulwich take the bus. We have been looking at the bus routes in the school website and it covers a lot of areas.
The school might be able to advise what current families are doing.

In case people find this useful. I know these league tables should not be the most important but it has some interesting data

Hi all we went for the Trinity offer holders tour yesterday, really impressed with what the school is offering. Just wondering whether anyone else been there yesterday and felt the same. It sounded like the school is very supportive and offering overall well rounded curriculum as well as extra curricular activities

Audley28 · 27/02/2025 18:28

We did not apply. Others will be able to answer.
When it is all decided, maybe we can do a group for the W ones!

Both schools seem great. Our son was initally a lot more keen on W after the open day visit back in Autumn but having visited both schools a few more times after the exams and spoken to a couple of students, teachers and parents, he decided Trinity was after all his preferred choice. We also felt it was the right school for him. With Trinity we were initially concerned about the possibility of it becoming coed but on balance as it wouldn't impact his intake directly we actually think that it might have it's own benefits. With W with a new head coming in there was an element of uncertainty too. It was super close though as they are both fantastic schools. All the best deciding what is most suitable for your son.

HopefulDad19 · 28/02/2025 13:00

We have now completed the decider tour for both T and W, and as most have said in previous posts, both are fantastic schools. T does feel very warm and nurturing, however, our DS feels that W is a better match for him. We as parents agree with his decision. It’s been a long journey, but we’re thankful for the position that our DS is in. Looking forward to connecting with other parents who make W their destination of choice - I think the idea of setting up a WhatsApp group when the time is right, is a great one.

Audley28 · 28/02/2025 16:45

Congrats everyone on deciding! Just paid the deposit on W. All these schools are amazing so it will work for everyone. Have a great weekend!
