Hello
I'm starting a new thread for those with children who are sitting for the 10+ Trinity and Whitgift exams this year.

Keen not be in this journey alone and hopefully share in the experience with others.

Based on the process for a friend's child who was being considered for academic scholarship , I understood select kids would be called for a group activity session through which they observe the kids. Rest go through 121 interviews. Pls excuse me if I have mistaken, this is purely based on feedback from another parent who has been through the process couple years back

Yes. This is for 11+. We have been called for interview on Tuesday morning, and a chat with the headmaster.

Oh excellent, well done. That would imply that your DS is up for academic scholarship. We only received Trinity notice on Friday and an interview date will follow shortly.

Audley28 · 12/01/2025 17:30

Do we know what they usually ask in the interviews in Whitgift? It is only 15 mins for the boys. What do they ask the parents? Thanks!
PS: Not counting on any academic scholarship so have not heard. For people potentially eligibilible I am sure it is OK to ask Admissions how it works. Good luck!

Congratulations so most likely it is for academic scholarship, we also recieved the e mail on Friday saying DS cleared the first stage and information about the interview to be expected later.

WisedUpMumOfTwo · 12/01/2025 20:42

Congratulations to all who have cleared the 11+ tests and have been invited for interview. Good luck!!! Fingers crossed

Scholarships email out (for non academic fields). Not sure about how the academic one works. Also read somewhere here that W gives less sports scholarships than before but at higher fee discount. Any insight on how the interviews or how the scholarship days work appreciated! Good luck to everyone!

Is this for trinity?

Hellofresh22 · 13/01/2025 14:22

At interview they may ask an academic question. From my DS's experience, this question may be a few quick calculation/ maths question to check their ability. My son was asked some quick maths questions at his interview. The person interviewing him told us afterwards (at our interview) that his maths paper result wasn't as strong as his other results, so they were checking his ability. I have heard of another boy who was asked a question about a piece of writing - more than likely for the same reason.
At parent interview, it's really just a conversation about your DS, getting to know you, any questions you might have, why you chose the school etc..,

Audley28 · 13/01/2025 14:41

@Wisemum19 This is for Whitgift.
@Hellofresh22 Thank you. This is very useful!

@Audley28 Yes - this is for Whitgift!

Trinity sports scholarships assessment invitation is out

TinyPurpleDancer · 14/01/2025 17:11

Has anybody heard about drama scholarship invites from Trinity yet? All this waiting and anticipation is killing me and we’re not even at offer stage yet!

Audley28 · 14/01/2025 18:27

Sorry - we are not applying for any drama scholarship. Most schools we have applied to tell us either 14th of Feb or March. So a few weeks and it will be over (hopefully on the positive side!).

modernmum23 · 16/01/2025 22:29

i was wondering if anyone's DS has had their interview yet? i've heard that previous years they've given prospective parents the chance to speak to current whitgift parents, anyone had this opportunity this year?

From previous experience, on arrival you are usually taken for tea/coffee with other parents whilst your son is being interviewed. There are current parents there who will answer any questions you might have/share their experiences. We found it quite useful!

Hello - Hope everyone had a great weekend. Has anyone here done the interview? We have it at the end of the month. Do we think that it matters who’s interviewing the child (if they are in the executive leadership team) as mentioned somewhere above? I believe that the ones that are being interviewed for the academic scholarship were specifically informed. For the others, maybe they get an English teacher if the child was weaker in English and so on? There were three letters in the interview invite which show who is interviewing the child. Or maybe we should not read into it at all! Thank you and good luck everyone!

user2468love · 19/01/2025 22:50

Do you have SAB?

Audley28 · 19/01/2025 22:52

Yes, we do!

user2468love · 20/01/2025 03:35

I think that is just the name of the registrar. It's not an indication of the teachers that will be doing the interviews

Wisemum19 · 20/01/2025 13:40

Hi do they actually mention that the child is for academic scholarship?

modernmum23 · 20/01/2025 14:32

The 3 initials are indicative of who your interviewer will be. We didn't get SAB but the initials on our email aligned with the interviewer.

My friend had SFM in brackets and thinks it is Sami Michael interviewing her child. We are all unsure until we go there. We are not up for academic scholarship so do not know if people that were selected were specifically told before the interview or at the interview.
Has anyone had the interview already? Maybe someone that has already been will have more information.
Have a great week!
