Hello
I'm starting a new thread for those with children who are sitting for the 10+ Trinity and Whitgift exams this year.

Keen not be in this journey alone and hopefully share in the experience with others.

@Ksusha05 I have no experience of the schools you are talking about, but do have experience of school going co ed while my sons were there, and it was massively disruptive. We chose an all boys school because we wanted them to be in a place where it was O.K to be a boy and not be constantly told that girls were better at things, where boys were encouraged to do arts subjects that in co ed schools are seen more as girls subjects, and to play a lot of sport. Every parent I knew felt it would have been better if phased in rather than changing straight away, but I suppose that would have meant a lot of people deciding not to go.
Inevitably some houses closed, were renovated, and became girls houses. Both parents and boys felt that it would have been nice if school had felt that the boys deserved the renovations. Neither of my sons go back to reunions etc. because it's too strange that the house they were very much part of is now a girls house.
The other problem is the first tranche of girls are very likely to have been offered inducements to go, so very mediocre people end up with academic scholarships.
When we were choosing a school we looked at co ed, but wouldn't consider any where the girls had a better standard of accommodation than the boys. This ruled out most of them. Good luck!

Any reflections on how a very general chat during interview will be used to make offers in W?

Audley28 · 29/01/2025 11:32

@Parent2024 I guess parents that got offers in previous years are best positioned to answer. We have only done the interview. My opinion is that it is difficult to read into a very general chat during interview . If a kid got an interview, they are considering giving him an offer. They also want to get a feel if the parents will accept the offer. Each interviewer has a different style and different types of questions.
For some parents, it will be clearer if they have told them that their kid is going to get an academic scholarship. For the others, we can only go with our gut feel. It is difficult to read. Someone said 120 spots and they will over offer/put on waiting list. We just need to wait till the 14th of Feb… (Wish it was earlier!)

Oakmoke · 31/01/2025 15:29

Good luck all. Is it 14th Feb for both T and W?

Just one week to go! Good luck all

Audley28 · 12/02/2025 11:25

Two days to go for Whitgift! Good luck tomorrow for those that applied to Trinity too! I hope they send emails early in the morning rather than afternoon. Dulwich sends letters tomorrow and emails on Friday. 🙏

WPolo · 12/02/2025 13:51

Does anyone know, from previous years, what time Trinity and Whitgift send out offers. I can’t wait all day🫣
Good luck to all the boys

Last year it was just before lunch! Sometime between 12-1 I think!. Good luck everyone!

Not to elongate the anxiety, but was just checking the key dates on Trinity and it said "Offers posted on 13th february". Could it mean a more formal process of posting the letters today with emails arriving tomorrow perhaps?

Hi All…

I’ve been following this thread silently but I had to jump on and share in the pain of waiting for these offers!

It is consuming my whole being!!! Give me strength!

All the very best to all your boys. I hope you all get the outcomes you are waiting for 🙏🏾

That is what Dulwich is doing... Effectively you hear tomorrow when you get both the email and the letters. (I guess letter only if we get in) Only one day now! Hope all the kids here get their first choice!

Yes, they all deserve the best, whatever that may be. I hope they're all happy tomorrow.🙏

Ksusha05 · 13/02/2025 15:50

I've refreshed my inbox about 100 times today! I think the outcome will be in tomorrow rather than today...so a few more hours of waiting 🙏
