Just that really. Like an antenatal thread but for parents of children starting primary in Sept.

We have our taster afternoon in a couple of weeks - it all feels so alien. Haven't felt this out of it since I bought my 1st pack of nappies and got the giggles at the checkout!

Good luck tomorrow tulip

Is my DS's 4th birthday today

I can't beleive that his best friend who he is starting school with will be 5 in 6 wks

Ok have a confession on the labelling front

Got all ready ie with cotton, needle etc and poised to sew and could not be bothered

Sooo looking for fabric pen

Aranea · 31/08/2009 22:29

Oh PinkTulips. I'm sure they will both be fine... how long will each be there for? Good luck good luck good luck. Let us know how it all goes!

Aranea · 31/08/2009 22:30

lol simpson. I'm impressed you even got that far, tbh.

PinkTulips · 31/08/2009 22:53

ds1 til 12.15, dd from 9.20 til 2pm.

have entered a state of zen like calm now... and the morning should be chaotic enough that i don't have time to panic.

it's a bit of a mess though as technically ds1 should be there at 9ish but he wants me to stay for a few minutes so will have to drop him late after dd is sent in (parents are not encouraged to linger at the school )

and my car broke down today so will have to drive up to the playschool in dp's piece of junk with no power steering and broken doors and try and manovere it into a parking space amidst mpv's and suv's parked all over the road [sigh]

simpson... i admire you for that decision... i think i'd have been as well off fabric penning her uniform but seeing as i'd bought the pretty labels i had to sit there and waste hours of my life sewing the damn things in.

newspaperdelivery · 01/09/2009 08:22

Good luck Tulip! I guess you are in your first school run/school morning now. Wow!

Will catch up - been away for weekend. T minus 2 weeks for us.

StillNorks · 01/09/2009 08:40

Thinking of you pinktulip

teafortwo · 01/09/2009 09:13

Sending good vibes for Pinktulip! xxxx

I am just imagining her now swishing upto the school gates....

Wow wow wow!!!!

PinkTulips · 01/09/2009 09:53

oooo, that was hard

Both of them were happy enough though, i dropped ds1 first and he wasn't at all pushed when i left to drop dd and i think it did her good to show off her school uniform to the playschool teachers. She went in happily enough and picked a seat next to a boy she was great pals with in playschool and the teacher wasn't too put out by the giant list of concerns (she won't talk to you, she's wheat intolerant, she gets vicious nosebleeds, she needs prompting for the loo, etc) and all the smallies bar one were happy to be there so there wasn't much anguish (except from us parents having to be shooed out the door

my house is a tomb though, i kkeep flinching at the silence Am off for a walk with my friend now with ds2 to get some much needed fresh air and excercise, will let you know how pick up goes.

thanks for all the good luck messages, i can't believe after talking about it all summer we're finally sending our babies off!

teafortwo · 01/09/2009 10:34

Congratulations PT - overall fab fab stuff!!!!

I will pop back online tonight to find out how both their days went!

Acinonyx · 01/09/2009 11:19

Sounds good Tulips - dd gets nosebleeds too (makes note to pack plenty tissues and mention to teacher).

I also have a pile of pretty labels STILL not sewn in and she starts on Friday. Tonight is the night - it must be done!

PinkTulips · 01/09/2009 13:43

Collected ds1... apparently all he did all day was reading stories as when asked if he had fun with the other kids he shouted 'NO! didn't like to' He also did not: draw, play with sand, do play doh, play on the trikes, play with dolls, paint or talk to his teachers... he won't volunteer any information about what he did do though and i'm fairly confidant he wasn't left sitting in a corner with a book alone all day as dd has been in this playschool for 18 months so i know the teachers well enough to trut they'd have gotton him busy with somethng and they didn't say he's been funny... and one in paticular is a friend and would have mentioned if he's been odd.

He seems happy and said he had fun though

PinkTulips · 01/09/2009 14:28

dd is home... exhausted but happy. They did painting and playing with cars and start on books tomorrow. Apparently she played with 'Everyone!' and came out with her two pals from the senior infants group, her two best friends in playschool.

Have realised i've done something ridiculously stupid though... i bought about 10 of everything, except cardigans... i have one, which is filthy and is being frantically washed and dried for tomorrow

newspaperdelivery · 01/09/2009 16:06

Wow PT - well done. Felt quite emotional thinking of you after reading the 09:53 post
Our first baby flies the nest - and on the first thread. I like that.

I'm really glad they had good days. Are they exhausted? Maybe it takes a while to take effect.

God getting nervous now. We are grabbing cheap flights next weeka nd heading off for a week, to pass the time really and have a last family holiday as probably wont be able to afford the school holiday prices from now on! We'll get back a week on Sat and she will start on Tuesday. All you experienced mums of school age children will be able to advise me

Now really - we need a new thread!! Titles?? Any ideas??

bodenaddict · 01/09/2009 16:15
