Hi, has anyone heard anything from the Latymer waiting list yet? Have they started contacting families? Any information welcomed 🙏

We were on the waiting list too, but we decided to accept the offer from Bute House since that was our first choice. After Latymer offered us a waiting list place and asked whether we were considering other schools, we told them we’d accepted Bute’s offer. So that’s one less family on the waiting list—hopefully you’ll get an offer. I’ve heard it’s a great school!

@Lewisbelly we are also starting 7+ prep for our son this year, and I'm actually worried about what resources to look at, as many parents say that starting early is key. A fellow parent recommended that we attend the 7+ webinar to get a better idea of what’s involved for 2026 prep.

I completely agree that starting early is necessary. The last three months were incredibly stressful for us because we realised our child wasn’t ready for the exams at all. We’d been quite relaxed and assumed most children were at a similar level to ours. Then our child didn’t pass the Westminster and City exams, and on another parent’s recommendation we started a Saturday course. That’s when we realised that most of the other children had been preparing for at least a year, and our child was quite far behind academically.
So we hired a tutor on top of the course for the last two months, and in the end we managed to get on the reserve list for Latymer and received an offer from Bute. But looking back, if we had done some regular preparation for a year, we could have avoided a lot of stress and a lot of tutoring costs. We have another child, and we’ve already started preparing for 7+.

Many thanks for the tips! We both work as well. Any tutor you could recommend, especially English? we live SW London

I also started with some resources to help my son we bought some school specific content, but first started working on his basics so we booked him some 7+ writing classes from Yellow Bird and PrepPlus.. Hoping to see progress later we work on his target prep for our first choice schools.. xx
