We hired a tutor because we weren’t very familiar with the exam system and we’re both working. Our younger child will be taking the 7+ this September as well, and we’ve already started preparations with the tutor. However, if you and your husband have the time, you can certainly support your child yourselves as well. What’s most important is that the child works independently. I have a sister whose son refuses to do any extra work whenever she tries to help him.

Many thanks for the tips! We both work as well. Any tutor you could recommend, especially English? we live SW London

waiting lists should start moving imminently…. Our school has asked parents to formally update them as to where each family stands with any offers - hopefully a strong nudge to all…

@keepgoingboy , Our DS is also waitlisted in KCJS. We were also surprised to see that he did not get through second round of SPJS. Fingers crossed that KCJS waitlist moves by end of January.

Any idea if Kings started calling people from the waiting list? Probably not before tomorrow..

havent heard about others

based on our school and cohort of friends, I think WUS will be surprised how many boys that also had SPPS offers will decline WUS.

I think King’s waiting list should come through for most... I really would be surprised if King’s is not THE best london school overall within 5 years (we declined with v heavy heart due to logistics of other children)

good luck to all!

Yes Kings posted on their insta page today they have 61 Oxbridge offers this year, highest ever and first offer from MIT in 2 decades.

Wow! Incredible.

Will likely be even stronger results once fully coed post 2027…

Westminster had 72 Sixth Formers who actually took up Oxbridge places in 2025 and there's nothing to suggest that their Oxbridge offers have declined this year either. Not sure where this anti-Westminster / WUS agenda is coming from.

deanstreet · 30/01/2026 14:42

Manchester Institute of Technology is so lovely

llany · 30/01/2026 17:47

We know a few who declined WUS for St Paul's offers instead. Such a personal choice. Kings waitlist definitely has moved.

ColdCoffeeAgain · 30/01/2026 20:54

I know a few families who chose WUS instead of SPJS. This was largely a personal choice, depending on factors such as location, co-ed preference, and so on. I also heard that a couple of boys received offers from SPJS off the waitlist.

fourthtimenow · 31/01/2026 07:02

We’ve accepted SPJ but didn’t receive offers from WUS or King’s, and we know many other boys in the same position. According to our head, the coed schools will become more and more popular with higher entry bars. We are so thrilled with the outcome as we love the green space. We’re comfortable with a single-sex environment, with the option of moving to a co-ed setting at sixth form if that suits him better later on. He isn’t the most effortlessly and squarely academic child in his class and tends to do better in a more balanced environment, so in our view this is actually a better outcome for him. They’re all excellent schools, and all our boys did really well!

ababyhamster · 31/01/2026 08:11

Anyone have any idea of how much the waitlist at Latymer moves (if at all)?

Bluemoon003 · 31/01/2026 17:29

We’re on the reserve list for Latymer too 😩. Praying for some movement soon

SWLondonMum00 · 02/02/2026 11:21

Coming back to this thread after a while... my son had been waitlisted for both KCJS and SPPS. Our first preference was always King's (logistics are much easier) and we received the offer last week - so were over the moon to accept it! A very nerve wracking last 2 months but glad that it's finally over and he'll be joining quite a few of his friends who will also be going to King's.

Does anyone know when the new Junior School campus is supposed to be ready? There was a display of the plans and some details about the ongoing consultation but no confirmed dates of when they plan to start moving students from the current Rushmere building to the new campus.

Alaina11 · 02/02/2026 12:00

@Lewisbelly we are also starting 7+ prep for our son this year, and I'm actually worried about what resources to look at, as many parents say that starting early is key. A fellow parent recommended that we attend the 7+ webinar to get a better idea of what’s involved for 2026 prep.

If I recall correctly, it is three years down the line when junior school will be fully co-ed.

llany · 02/02/2026 16:37

We were told by the Kings registrar that for this 7+ cohort they will only go co ed at age 16. So no change for them.

SWLondonMum00 · 03/02/2026 08:09

I didn’t mean when the school goes co-ed, it was to understand when they plan to move to the new dedicated junior school site. They acquired the former premises of Ursuline Prep and had plans to redevelop into a dedicated junior campus.

Bluemoon003 · 05/02/2026 14:00

Hi, has anyone heard anything from the Latymer waiting list yet? Have they started contacting families? Any information welcomed 🙏
