Primary School Offers - When did you get email?

Anyone out there anxiously awaiting primary school offers? I'm more excited than anxious to be fair, but impatiently looking forward to finding out where DS will be going from Sept.

If you have been through this previous years, when did you get the email with the offer? Is it worth staying up till midnight?!

Anxiously waiting here! It seems to vary by area- I believe London may be 5pm?

Anyone know about W Sussex? They are pretty vague on their website!

HolyCannoli · 15/04/2024 17:29

When I googled it, I found older threads where users said they got the email after midnight and others said 9am in the morning. I definitely can't wait until 5pm 😂 I mean I will have to but I really don't want to.

We have waited 4 months since applying but these last few days are draaaaaging. We are in the Nottinghamshire area, first child so no experience whatsoever.

I got my email a few minutes after midnight last year.

ZipZapZoom · 15/04/2024 17:31

Anxious wait here too. I've also googled for an idea but it doesn't seem consistent even if people were posting from the same area.

Our portal hasn't changed since application so not sure what to expect.

TillyTrifle · 15/04/2024 17:32

Soon after midnight. I remember waking up in the night and looking at my phone and it was there.

Dustinsfrontteeth · 15/04/2024 17:34

We’re Nottinghamshire too. You don’t have to wait for the email, if you log in to the portal after midnight the info should be there.

sarahc336 · 15/04/2024 17:36

In Merseyside if you log on after mid night your offer is there before the email comes out

HolyCannoli · 15/04/2024 17:45

Oh that fills me with hope. I stay up pretty late most evenings so might try and stick it out till midnight. Might be totally unreasonable but I've got those little butterflies.

Do you guys have your heart set on your first choice or would you be happy with any of your other choices that you put down (if you out down multiples)? We are lucky in a sense that most of the nearby schools are quite good but our first choice feels even better to us. We are slightly out of catchment but because it's a small village Primary, it doesn't always get oversubscribed. Our catchment school on the other hand is massively oversubscribed so 🤷🏼‍♀️ Need to chill and stop overthinking 😅

Oh I didn't know that!!! Thank you ☺️ The same portal we used for the application I guess? Definitely doing a Netflix binge to pass the time tonight haha

@HolyCannoli I think I will be very upset of we don't get our first choice- it's our catchment school and a perfect fit for DD! It's also 200m away (in a straight line, longer to walk) and last year's furthest distance was over 1km (though 30/60 were siblings...)

None of the schools are bad where we live, but none felt as right for us.

Aww, I've got everything crossed you'll get your first choice 🤞🏻 How amazing that it's so close to you. Our catchment school is a 5-10 minute walk from us and it was incredibly tempting to put it as first choice down purely out of convenience but the one slightly out of catchment was just so much more appealing.

I'm trying to convince myself that all the schools we put down have good, strong pros, they are fairly local and overall good primaries...

@HolyCannoli yes, just log in to the portal you applied from. I’ve heard that the birth rate is slightly down for this cohort so you might be lucky out of catchment.

It's our catchment, so that should go for us!

It's so hard when you have agonised over it...

AprilHolli23 · 15/04/2024 18:17

I'm so glad I've found others in the same boat in Nottinghamshire!
I am in mansfield, we are in the catchment for two schools, both exactly half a mile from us and I'm really hoping my DD gets into our first choice.
I'm so apprehensive for tomorrow! I won't be able to stay up until midnight. And what makes it worse is we moved here at the end of December from Sutton, so I had to call up and change all of the details as it didn't work online! They said I'd get the email, Im guessing I won't see it online 😬. So nervous.

Icylemontea · 15/04/2024 18:23

does anyone have experience with Bromley Council? Do they update their portal at midnight? Just wondering if I should stay up tonight..

neverendingcold · 15/04/2024 18:26

If I don't get my first choice it's going to be a disaster and I'll likely have to quit my job

MrsBroody · 15/04/2024 18:27

We’ve just got our offer in Solihull @ 17:54

Flubadubba · 15/04/2024 18:28

@Icylemontea Bromley normally comes under London, where they are released at 5pm.

Oh wow that's impressive! I thought midnight was the earliest any of the portals updated!

Hope it was the offer you wanted.

SpicyMargaritaPlease · 15/04/2024 18:30

We got ours at around 2 mins past midnight last year. Hope you all get the schools you want!

Yes today. Email came through at 17:54. Completely caught me by surprise!!

Flubadubba · 15/04/2024 18:31

@MrsBroody wow! How did you fare?

mitogoshi · 15/04/2024 18:33

@HolyCannoli

I know you say you are on tender hooks but please remember that your child will do the best they can anywhere because you care as a parent, seriously, parental involvement is so important. Perhaps a little simplistic but seriously it will be fine! 🤞

Thank you. We got our second choice which is kinda what we expected. First choice only offer 30 places and is incredibly oversubscribed - either need to have a sibling or live within 0.3m (we are 0.4 so was always a borderline option!)

also little heads up I noticed Solihull published their ‘how places were offered’ document at 17:30ish today when I checked. It included the Sept 2024 intake so I could surmise from that we hadn’t been offered first choice. Might be worth checking if any of your LAs have done the same.

good luck everyone
