Primary School Offers - When did you get email?

Anyone out there anxiously awaiting primary school offers? I'm more excited than anxious to be fair, but impatiently looking forward to finding out where DS will be going from Sept.

If you have been through this previous years, when did you get the email with the offer? Is it worth staying up till midnight?!

@HolyCannoli we did but I didn't get the same feeling in the others like I did with this one. I could see my DC thriving there. I guess we'll see what happens after 1st May, we may still get in as we're on the waitlist

We got our first choice! It's out of catchment & usually hugely oversubscribed so I can't believe it.

Yaaaay!!!! Congrats!! Same, ours is out of catchment too and a hit and miss with over subscription so I'm over the Moon! 🥹

We wouldn't have got in for the last 3 years so there must have been quite a lot of fewer applicants/siblings this year.

So glad for those who have already heard and got their first choice and commiserations to those who haven’t.

We have to wait for an email at some point today while other parents from our preschool have had their notification on the portal already - this is because we have got an agreement for compulsory school age start in reception for our twins so the online system wouldn’t accept their DoB (a known issue).

We are in the enviable position that, in our town and the surrounding villages, there are a total of 9/10 primary schools that we could apply to - obviously wouldn’t get into them all on distance but, apart from our first choice school, every single one was down on their entries for 2023 start and this year is a lower birth year. I so want the twins to go to the same school as all their preschool friends so got everything crossed for when the email eventually arrives 🤞🤞

Im gutted. We’ve been offered our third choice. It’s not a bad school but it’s 1.5 miles away. Our nearest school is oversubscribed but we literally live 300 metres/less than a 5 minute walk so I thought we’d be fine. 2nd school is faith so we knew low chance but again, we are 400 metres on that so again, we thought would be fine. It’s absolutely thrown our plans into chaos for next year re:travelling 😰

@VivaVivaa Oh no! Might be worth getting on to the council tomorrow to see what your chance might be like.

I still haven’t had an email but I have had the offer on the account. I’ve had an email tell tell me I’ve responded though 😂

Logged onto portal. Also notts. Offered first choice. Over the moon as I didn't think we would get it.

Thanks. I will do. I am absolutely shocked and can’t sleep. Our baby is going to a CM (who lives on our road) when I finish mat leave and the plan was for her to drop off/collect my eldest. There is no way she’ll pick up from a school over a mile away. My eldest is going to be gutted.

Ive not had email yet but offer is online for wirral. The website is so clunky & basic.

I cant see anywhere to accept the place though …. It just says if we have not heard from you by 30th April we automatically assume you accept the place.
Is this correct or am I missing something?
I thought you had to actively accept!

Hi thanks for your message. Yes I couldn’t get on the site from midnight was still trying around 12:30 and ended up falling asleep. Just woke and checked. We got offered first place which I’m really amazed with. But my page is the same no where to accept the offer just says the same as yours 30th April. I thought you had to accept too. Might have more information on email maybe when that comes through

I can see I've had the email, although the Devon portal doesn't seem to have updated as far as I can tell...

First preference! Not that realistically there was any chance of that not happening but still exiting to have it confirmed. It is very much not the closest school to us, it's actually like 7 miles away, but it'll work well for us.

My email came few days late

I ended up ringing the school and the receptionist couldn't tell me outright so we got around it in the end by her telling me that yes I could go ahead and the buy the uniform

@VivaVivaa you have my sympathy.

We got our 4th option. Not a bad school but miles away and no easy public transport.

Hmm just need to think. And maybe sleep!
