Primary School Offers - When did you get email?

Anyone out there anxiously awaiting primary school offers? I'm more excited than anxious to be fair, but impatiently looking forward to finding out where DS will be going from Sept.

If you have been through this previous years, when did you get the email with the offer? Is it worth staying up till midnight?!

Oh my god! It's not just me!!! 😆 I was just thinking of typing the exact same message!

I'm glad I'm not alone! My husband is looking at me like I'm crazy 😂I just want midnight to come now! I hate the waiting!

HaveADrinkOnMe · 15/04/2024 20:59

I'm still paranoid I didn't submit properly/ on time. I know I did, but paranoid I didn't.

We've applied for my DS to attend the catchment school where my DD already goes but I'm STILL a bit nervous and just tracked down our original email confirming our application. I'm taking my phone to bed tonight so I can check if I wake in the night!

ALunchbox · 15/04/2024 21:01

We didn't get an email till the following day. Turned out the information was accessible from the portal...

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that, now that must be really stressful, bless you. Is there a particular reason why your job would be compromised? Is it location / distance from school?

Yup. That and wrap around. Just the timings of it all.

Good luck pandemic mamas

Loving the "high volume of parents will be accessing the site" note at the bottom. All the nervous mums LOL - dads seem to be more chilled. DH is anyway, he doesn't get why I'm so antsy over this. I asked him if he wants to stay up till midnight with me and he was looking at me like I had two heads. So I told him I'll just wake him up when the site is updated and he told me not to dare 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

I've got a few friends in the same boat where it really should be a done deal but you just never know and they don't want to assume. I guess my biggest fear is that we aren't going to get any one of our 4 choices and they will send DS somewhere bloody miles away....although I did see that over 98% got one of their 4 choices last year so I really don't want to irrationally worry.

Ah thank you!! This is great to know, god I hope it’s not the same this year 😂 I’m planning on staying up until midnight and refreshing the online thingy like a mad woman 😂🥴

AhBiscuits · 15/04/2024 21:16

Ours arrived at 5 past midnight.
Bristol.

Sunshineclouds11 · 15/04/2024 21:17

@Doodledoo it's so nerve wrecking it really is.

I hope you get what you want. 🤞🏽

Thisismyusername3 · 15/04/2024 21:26

I am so nervous! I’ve changed my mind so much throughout the whole process so I don’t even know what I want anymore I just want to be told what one we have so I can plan for that

Hoplolly · 15/04/2024 21:27

MrsBroody · 15/04/2024 18:27

We’ve just got our offer in Solihull @ 17:54

Solihull are elite at this, always been the same.

Flubadubba · 15/04/2024 21:31

@HolyCannoliI panicked on closing day as I couldn't see my application. Emailed the council and they were lovely- reassured me it had gone through, and even included a screen shot...

Timeforsnacks · 15/04/2024 21:42

I just signed in and it looks like you can enable push notifications!

MrsBroody · 15/04/2024 21:42

For anyone wondering what the email might look like, here’s an edited version of the one I received from Solihull earlier today :)

Checking in! @abbs1 our preferred school had a silly number of siblings last year too - 19 out of a class of 30! Last year we would have been about the last house that would have got in on distance alone (we live about 300 metres away) but any other year we would have been fine. It’s quite nerve wracking!

Oh gosh! That's crazy. Both schools we want one were like 350 metres 2nd choice we're under 500metres but 2nd choice is a one form only. I need midnight to hurry up

abbs1 · 15/04/2024 22:03

HolyCannoli · 15/04/2024 19:55

I haven't checked this for any of our choices. Where did you get all the info from? I vaguely remember seeing anything for our catchment school, saying 90 out of 160 applicants got in but can't remember seeing sibling rates etc...

Our first choice is such a lovely little school but the only way we get in is if it's not oversubscribed. But both of our catchment schools (2nd & 3rd choice) get oversubscribed too so who knows how they sort it all out. Also, our 2nd choice is a CoE school which is a massively long shot as we have no connection to the church... agghhhh come on 😅

My son goes to a nursery attached to the school and the manager told me. They had 287 applications last year for 60 places and 37 siblings plus children of teachers. Going to the nursery doesn't give you any priority either.
Our second choice had 150 applications for 30 places. Our whole area is completely oversubscribed and another Primary school is desperately needed. So many kids didn't get into the schools they wanted last year so I'm very stressed.

1daughterand3sons · 15/04/2024 22:08

It's been a long time since I applied on for a primary school place I'm in London and it was around 5pm when I got the email.

With ds I already knew what school he was going to before national offer day has he was going to a special needs school.

Woahthehorsey · 15/04/2024 22:44

We just had to log on the portal. I did it the next day, but I wasn't particularly fussed about which of our choices they got in to.

Dyra · 15/04/2024 23:54

Hurry up midnight! 😬

AlltheFs · 16/04/2024 00:01

Woohoo! We got our 1st choice. Thank the absolute fuck for that.

ReginaPhalange12 · 16/04/2024 00:01

We didn't get first choice, I'm so disappointed

Flubadubba · 16/04/2024 00:04

Ours hasn't updated yet!

Hamsternautss · 16/04/2024 00:04

Cursing surrey school applications for making us wait till 5pm, ugh
